  • If you've been working in Unreal Engine 5, and have any Nanite Meshes that you want to have Translucency on, but so far have had no luck, then look no further. In this quick tutorial, I go over over why you're Glass Materials have not been working on Nanite Meshes, and what you can do about it.

I would suggest changing the name of the video since it doesn't actually show how to use a glass material on Nanite. This actually isn't a solution for Nanite meshes. I mean no offense, since there is nothing wrong with the video in itself. Clear and points to proper sources. However, with that title, I feel a bit cheated after watching it. Just something to take into consideration.

TLDR: Disable Nanite from any mesh that has a glass material (slot).
Dude, you wasted a few minutes of my life telling to just disable Nanite.

The solution is to disable nanite on meshes to use translucent on nanite mesh ? That stupid x).

If you've disabled Nanite, then you are not using a translucent material on a Nanite mesh.

Was this supposed to have audio? Or actually do anything. seems like you just disabled nanite on the mesh.

Wow, this video is 4 weeks old and no one ever told me it didn’t have audio. Wtf, wow, yes this was definitely supposed to have audio.
I was talking the entire time but to summarize, the current version of Nanite capabilities does not extend to Translucent Materials. So I showed the documentation showing that, and basically said that if you want your glass showing probably, you have to disable nanite.
So if you have a car model, you can either disable nanite entirely, or separate the windows from the car (so that they’re 2 different models) and then import them into Ue5 and combine them (this way the windows won’t have nanite, but everything else will). Cannot believe I’m just now hearing about this, thanks for your comment

UE5.1 supports nanite in glass, so this tutorial isn’t even necessary unless you’re using ue5.0

he wasted 10 minutes of my time showing me how nanite meshes can automaticly turn to regular meshes when they have transparent materials .
