      So far so good. Have several move videos not a rake to put in a road ditch but does such a beautiful job on fields I’ll keep an old junk rake around to tear up in bad situations

    I use the New Holland 230 twin basket. It’s very similar to this rake. I use it for heavy grass hay and it cleans the ground like a champ.

    I bought one of these 3 years ago and have love how it rakes. However I have had nothing but trouble with operation issues. The hitch assembly fell apart in the field and ripped the wire harness apart. Fixed that. Had to go back for warrantee work on extend slide and they finally got that fixed and now something is wrong with the solenoid hydraulic valve assembly on the rake. The electrical schematic is hard to follow and the colors of the wires are fading so what they call orange is now yellow and also stripes on wires have disappeared so have to trace with continuity tester. After the warranty ran out, our dealer can't seem to find time to help trouble shoot my issue. When it works, it is great, but I sure got a lemon.

    Have you ever stalled the baskets on the Twinstar rake? Kinda curious how much driving force the baskets have compared to Vermeer.

    • @tedkahler9738
      @tedkahler9738  Před 2 lety

      I have not been able to stall the baskets even in this very heavy Cain 4.5-5 ton per acre. Running 8 plus’s mph

    amazing rake, need one to, can you rake high speed with it about 12 m/h

  • @nschelling6420

    Good video! What Vermeer rake are you comparing this to? How fast can you travel and still do a decent job of raking? I’ve been looking at these kind of halfheartedly wondering if they could rake cornstalks instead of the Rowse WR20 that I use now. I run up to 10mph and I wonder how the TwinStar would take that. My brother has a Vermeer R2300 so I kinda know what the powered bar rakes will do. I would want something that can rake a full 30’ hence my interest in the 30’ TwinStar.

      I have used a h&s high capacity rake as well as a vemeere r23A I was raking stuff as fast as i wanted to go.... not sure if we hit ten mph but pry could have i know 9 was ran alot

      i always thought my next rake would be a rotary 20 foot model to make 20 or 40 foot windrows, how does this price compare to a rotary?

    Just out of curiosity could you slide one basket farther out and bring the other on it the same amount to offset the tractor so you could have straddled one of your windows instead of driving on both of them? I know in your situation it really didn't matter, I just hate driving on my windrows so was just curious.

    • @tedkahler9738
      @tedkahler9738  Před 2 lety

      You know you probably could…… think the best thing would be drive down the bigger gap grab and rake the ones that would be further apart back together but then there would be single windrows on each end of field.
