    Great episode! I had always wondered how some of the 1:43’s would stack up against some of the bigger cars and you were great in answering that question for me! I think I may get a few of these buggers and have a little competition race amongst them!

    I don't understand your question "are they worth". I see them as another way to use your cars. I have a lot of SCX 1:32 track and at least as much Carrera 1:43 track as well as a decent amount of SCX 1:43 track (wish there was an adapter track to combine them). I've tried running the 1:32 on the Carrera 1:43 and they don't move at all so I'm guessing the power is lacking for the larger scale. As to the cars you tested I was really surprised at how well the Artin car performed. They sure don't look like they'd perform as well as the better looking/better detailed Carrera.

    Hello Slotcarguy,
    I just like saying that , lol.
    So how is the Artin car setup? Is it running with a faster motor?
    And is that time a 1/32 scale killer?
    Best Regards ,
    Jack

    • @Roland_Rohrle
      @Roland_Rohrle Před 2 lety +1

      G’day Jack,
      Artin 1/43 slot cars run a Mabuchi type 6 volt motor designed to run on sets supplying 5-7.5 volts. I suspect the Slot Car Guy is running 12-14 volts. So yes, it’ll be fast, but it may not last as the Artin motors don’t have carbon brushes, just a very thin copper beryllium brush finger that may burn out at higher volts/ current. Artin 1/43 slot cars also generally run 10/27 gearing which is quite tall compared to Carrera’s (from memory) much shorter 8/34 gearing. This gives the Carrera GO cars the torque they require on short tracks to be able to quickly accelerate and complete the loops featured in most of their sets at the price of sacrificing top speed on a longer track. Carrera GO cars are also designed to run at 14.8 volts 0.3 amps per lane.
      I hope this helps.

    Apparently, Carrera made (or makes?) 143 digital cars which will run on 132/124 track. Have you ever seen or run any of these cars? I found precisely *one* on USA Amazon, and it was cheap, iirc, $35. I was thinking of getting it just for the novelty.

    How many practice laps before this was was shown I know the F1 cars I bought don't stay on the track on the corners.The 1/43 scale magnets wouldn't allow the F1s to work on my Carrera track so I took the magnets out and then they did race but soon as it came to the corners they kept sliding out of the slot ? if that is what the guides sit in, my choice is 1/32 much easier to handle without the magnets, the grandson & granddaughter loves it when the slot cars do the drift on the corners.

      Try sanding the tyres with some sand paper, easiest way is to place the car on the track and hold some sand paper under the rears and slowly move the car from side to side keeping it level if possible.
      The car going in the wrong direction maybe wired wrong? You could re solder the wires in opposite position
