    I'd wait at least 4 weeks to wet sand the Crystalac. I waited 2 weeks and was struggling to dry sand, so I switched to wet sanding. The finish softened and I quickly sanded through. I ended up having to sand all the finish off and redo.

      I’ve had no problems after two weeks. Of course I’m at 5,600 feet with 9% humidity and a temperature that hit 101 degrees today.

    What is your opinion on leveling frets with simulated string tension (sligthly induced up-bow by turning the truss rod couterclockwise)? Some people do it on old guitars during fresh new fretwork, but I've never seen anyone doing it on a new guitar. Thank you for your content, I view you as the biggest guitar building authority on CZcams:)

      I have no opinion because I don't work on old guitars.

    How dare you do that! Just apply that comment to wherever it applies in the video. 😉
    Thanks for the video. Informative as always.

    Ok the fretbroad we radius it why can’t we radius the frets as well

      The fret wire is radiused. They match the fretboard radius when pressed in.

    Hey Chris, as always a very informational video. I was wondering if you sprayed let’s say a 2k clear coat on a maple fretboard, how would you go about sanding it up to a gloss? Would you carefully tape off only the fret and level and polish the fretboard? Or is there more to it?

      @HighlineGuitars  Před měsícem +2

      I do all of that before installing the frets.

      @@HighlineGuitarsgotcha. I’ve been wondering how fender does it since they spray over the frets and I haven’t found much info

      @@jacobhanan2050 after they spray the fretboard (including the frets), they mask off the fretboard and do all of the fret leveling, crowning and polishing which removes the clear coat from the frets. Then they remove the mask and level the clear coat finish with different size sanding blocks. Next they buff both the fretboard and the frets at the same time. Finally, they clean the dirty buffing residue off the fretboard with naphtha.

      @@HighlineGuitarsthanks for the insight! I’ve been curious for a while about how it was done
