I found your channel and I love the transparent and expert way in which you make comparisons... And the truth is, thanks to the experts' comments, imachinig may tend to generate great expectations, but with what I see in your video, camworks has nothing to envy of soldcam and it seems that it is a very powerful and very flexible environment and that is what need. It integrates much better into Solidworks than solidcam. thankssssssssssssssssssssssss
Power of SolidCAM is not only iMachining, but also the flexibilty to optimize the postprocessor for any machine. 2,5D is strong especially when you have multiple part setups (Transformation of UCS). This demo part can be machined in 2 minutes by Pocket recognition, or Pocket with variable depth. Also copying operations, just use Ctrl key and drag an excisting operation to the geometry to be machined. The demo given here is how you did it 10 years ago... First iMachining attempts were poor, but after optimizing some parameters, it's really amazing for toollife and is a reliable milling process.
Power of solidCAM lies in imachining. I honestly think without it it is simply not a competitive product. They also know that and that is why almost all roughing is centered around imachining. For instance, the part you machined would be roughed in about 5 clicks ( imachining 3D), with target model intact (safe machining). Hard to beat that. Then you just apply finish pases for imortant features but for other features you can just copy again same operation to take off those last few 0,1milimeters.
With camworks 2019, you can do a 3D volumill cycle which is awesome. I like imachining but I have had better results with volumill, particularly with tool life. Imachining is extremely fast though, not sure if anything beats it.
