Isn't it fascinating all the character comedians that sprang from the late 70's and 80's? Cheech & Chong, Robin Williams, Elvira, Bobcat, Pee Wee, Rodney Dangerfield. Some were full on characters created for the stage and others had characters evolve from their routines. Remarkable. I feel Bobcat's routines from the 80's would get him in hot water today not for its content but how it was delivered.
I remember a pool party at Joey Heathertons when the Doctor passed out and Diane Cannon called animal control, and the Doctor woke up while the guy was trying to put a muzzle on him. The doctor bit the guy and he shot him with a tranquilizer dart. The doctor fell in the pool but luckily Johnny weismuller jumped in and saved him.
This is some very funny, funny stuff. But built into the brilliance is its own doom--it is a refined, select audience that has the same unique set of interests.
This is the greatest thing in the universe and hardly anyone is watching it.
