“Every day I’m shufflin” - Jokić 2021 MVP
OMG I am dying! Someone should do a video montage of Joker's Sombor Shuffles with this song in the background!
If dat happens d ratings of nba wil go down haha
Jokic didn't say that! LMFAO did.
I be Sombor Shufflin~
Ha Ha, that's hilarious!
i love how he just casually takes a dribble and then shoots over his defender like he's practicing
Same, if you compare his highlights to Capazzo's they're like practice vs game 7 finals intensity material :D
He practices it. Great players make tough shots because they indeed practices it
Yup, practice every single day, many many shots
@@VArsovski10 hahaha, love capazzo
@M J little hop skip flip lmao
The first thing i noticed about this guy was he doesnt jump at all and i thought that was bad. But with his offensive arsenal he basically can afford not jumping.. while staying injury free, its genius.
Plus his hands are the best in the league and his 4 inch jump grounds him way before the defence ,making him great at second chance points . The same with Kanter ,who is best at it.
@@wilee.coyote1841 The hands (i'd say arms) are insane for a big man.
@@wilee.coyote1841 The amount of deflections and forced errors due to his hands interfering with those driving or shooting is crazy
and not jumping in a jumpshot(oh wait what?) make his pump fakes more confusing...
i think
He is a professional hitman, he ain't a circus employee.
"Sombor Shuffle" - definitely remembering that!
You live up to your name if you didn't already know whats it's called lol
This shot is a lot more complicated than it lookes. The footwork etc.

YES JOKER!!
Jokic's shot is unstoppable. That is so tuff to guard. The angle he puts the ball is so nicely placed people cannot get a hand on it. That is why he is the MVP this szn.
He’s amazing
Kareem could guard Jokic
@@kevin5233 exactly. Only all time great players can slow him down
@@eloyzamora4461 Facts, there are only 2 or 3 guys in NBA rn that could potentially clamp Jokic, but even that is stretch.
@@kevin5233 i think gobert has blocked a jokic hookshot once? i don't know who can even defend him effectively in the paint, maybe embiid?
Wait. Is this another ESPN special report about Joker in one month? This can't be really happening.
Ikr! It's like they finally threw in the towel.
Not only that but a really good one. It's still going to shock a lot of people when he gets the MVP because the Nuggets don't get any coverage on national TV and Jokic doesn't look like an NBA superstar...
@@urivan9613 Larry Bird says hi.
White media wants him as MVP
@@0401412740 you have to go way back 2007 for the last white complexion player in German Dirk Nowitzki to win the mvp you fool. Jokic will win mvp because of his impact and his immense talent. Same way all black mvp's won theirs you racist casual.
crazy he is shooting better then dirk in dirks mvp season. while being the hub of passing and having less then 1/2 time on the ball then any other major distributor.
It's truly unique. Cause he leads the league in touches but is nowhere near the top in time of possession. Which means he's getting the ball frequently and giving it up pretty quickly and it makes their whole offense flow.
@@itsxtray That’s insane
Tighter D was aloud then. Not a massive difference but noticable.
Jokic's PER, WS/48, BPM & OBPM stats this season each rank within top 10 in NBA history!
And he made more field goals this season (732) than any other player. While shooting 56%.
Mans is caring the nuggets with his two pudgy hands

Anyone that enjoys Basketball Enjoys this mans game. He is like the big man version of Ginobli. He is brining something so different yet effective and its great for the game, makes everyone better
He's nothing like ginobli. The inventor of the flop ain't nothing like him. He's honestly more like Tim duncan. Mister fundamentals.
He plays like bird
@@halwa9528 He plays like Bird post injuries yeah. People compare Doncic to Bird only because he's White, only Jokic has the high percentage shooting and efficiency. Pre injuries though Bird was far better than Jokic since he had speed and hops then.
@@slickboxingidentityveritas1932 Bird was not a center right? They are different beasts.
@@vvkth2500 Based on rebounds and blocks Jokic isn't a center either. He's a taller Small Forward, he facilitates and scores. LeBron is basically a point guard too like Magic. Where they put them doesn't matter, we know what role they're playing.
Looks weird but this dude probably has the most effective midrange game in the league currently alongside Kevin Durant
He’s shooting like 3rd best from midrange but he may be the best based on how many of his shots are contested. If he only took open mid ranges I bet he could easily make 70%. He shoots something like 56% in general I think
He developed it while dealing with a foot injury
Yeah, and cp3, once cp3 takes a midrange shot just know it's going in
Durant looks weird too
Pretty sure at one point kyrie and jokic were the two most efficient scorers from the midrange this year, maybe it changed

He may not be athletic, but he has finesse and power. And a big brain.
Misconception! He is 7 foot, 290 pounds, yet the way he maintains his body in control, the way he moves his feet, the way he spins off of defenders, the way he finishes his plays with the softest of touches, the way he continuously makes very difficult shots & layups are all a testament to his athleticism.
He regularly outplays & outmaneuvers the biggest & best centers & PF's in the league, including Adebayo, Nurkic, KAT, Davis, Durant, Drummond, Antetokounmpo & Embiid!
You may be swayed to believe that "athletic" means "well defined muscles", but this is merely a colloquialism at best. Athletic is an attribute describing a person's capabilities.
@@tropickman why are you trying to sound smart by telling me my use to of the word “athletic” was wrong? In comparison to other nba athletes he’s not athletic which is a very common term used to compare people in sports. His game revolves around footwork, positioning and slower power moves, those skills generally aren’t referred to as “athletic”. Like yeah he’s an athlete and is by definition athletic, but in comparison to his peers he is a non-athletic athlete.
If by athletic you mean big jumper.
Then I agree.
But playing the second most minutes in the NBA I would consider athletic.
@@atorrrand that’s exactly what I mean. He has terrible vertical and speed, but he doesn’t need it with his skill set and IQ
He has such a soft touch... He's not athletic but he's just a very gifted basketball player.
His game is so unorthodox, but it works. Unorthodox is great! People have never seen something like this guy and have no idea how to guard him at all. Keep doing you Jokic.
It's a paradox; an orthodox christian with an onorthodox playing style :)
The closest comparison is Bird, but he's an even better creator from all over the floor. Crazy

Dirks fade is based on the left foot while he shot with his right hand.
Jokic's Sombor Shuffle is a jump on the right foot while shooting with the right hand.

I watched that game. Draymond was all over him and he still made those shots.
Draymond has an excuse for being shorter, but Jokic makes them regularly even against giants like Gobert.
Pause!!!
Jokic gunna be MVP every year cause he never gets hurt. His style is practically injury proof.
He is pulling a Tim Duncan. Healthy with the fundamentals.

All net every time ,that ball doesn’t even hit the rim. This man is truly something else.
Coming back to this now that Jokic is in the NBA Finals 👑
That's such a tough shot and he makes it look so easy
By far the MVP this season "on & off" the court! A player who cares about his team without the bling-bling superstar me, myself and I attitude! HE said" I didn't join the NBA to win the MVP title. I joined it to win games and titles!!! Larry Birds legacy!!!
what I love about it is that its like a step back but minimizing the time. Because if you do the normal step back, that left leg goes back and plants it first, then you jump. With the sombor shuffle, you dont have to plant the left leg at all so that saves time thereby despite how slow looking his shot, defenders cannot react to it asap because he is already in the air instead of spending a split second to plant the left leg.
Ask me which will be my favorite player after lebron retired, and none of them are born here in the US🙌🏽🙌🏽soo the league is CHANGING FAST. Luka, giannis and the joker are KILLING IT🙌🏽🙌🏽
Dude Sombor-shuffled his way to a championship. God I love Jokic.

Every time he shoots it,looks like it’s going in
Facts
Because it is.
no it looks just opposite...Joker's law says more awkward it looks its more likely its going in
What you describe here is the literal definition of a "pure shooter". Not saying I agree that this guy is or isn't one. Just pointing out that your description is the exact definition of a pure shooter.
Draymond imitating the shot at 4:57 is priceless lol :D
That’s the biggest heartbreaker for an opposing team
yes, Jokic is answer to question of what's most demoralising for defence (guys who are hard to guard because they feast on poor defence and exploit any errors you make vs guys who just go and make tough shots despite your best efforts and perfectly executed defensive schemes)
Talk about his defence which is always underplayed. His deflections, steals and forced errors need talking about
This right here is why someday Jokic will be remembered as on of the GOATS up there with MJ, Kobe, Lebron and Shaq

Thanks ESPN. He is starting to get accolades that he deserves.
the arch on his shot is amazing.
Yeah, like howitzer.
I notice how the floor is so spread out and slow the game is for him, Now That's Box Office 💯
Jokic reminds me of players like Dirk, Tim, Kobe, and Jordan, in that he has a move that's so predictable, yet unstoppable.
@ESPN It was about time. Nice job analysing and presenting. Congrats.
Dad wanted a Center, Mom wanted a Playmaker and he was born
What amazes me is how easy the game looks for him knowing full well how hard it really is. I can say with full certainty he is the best nuggets player ever. And he is only 26!
YESSIR some love for Jokic❤❤

I still can't believe what a golden Nugget we found at the end of a 2nd round. He is so good and so much fun to watch and root for. Let's go Nuggets!
One of the few guys in the league you just can't hate no matter which team you support. Pure elite basketball player 💕
The best part for me is that in a lot of those situations the defence is rather playing very well. He is simply too tall to block the shot. I guess a lot of those defenders feel frustrated, as they did almost everything, and he still made a basket. It IS a killer move!
dude played all 72 games, big props
So effortless, the league has never seen a passing big man like this, he deserves an MVP
He will be the first center to join the 50/40/90 club, and to lead the league in assists
The balance needed to pull this off is insane, he may not be athletic in the jumping and running categories but his body balance is wild
Thats the MVP right there 💯
He combines hardens step back with dirks footwork unreal!!!!
This guy is re-imagining basketball. Such a unique player and humble guy. Congrats on the MVP!!!! Nuggets Nation

Greetings from Sombor
Great video, very informative and detailed breakdown! I got tired of announcers calling it Dirk shot, or awkward looking fadeaway. He's an MVP, he's an All-Star, and one of the top 10 players in the NBA (maybe even top 5 currently), it's time for NBA reporters and fans to learn what Sombor shuffle is.
Bruh they only called it a “Dirk looking shot” and “An awkward looking shot” before because it doesn’t have a name yet. What are you suppose to call it before then? Just plain old “Jumper”?

The real basketball fans love jokic and his game
Lol, all it took was for Jokic to be the obvious mvp for espn to finally start talking about him.
No it took him actually winning MVP (votes are already in it just not announced yet)
The "awkwardness" in Jokic's signature move is that he jumps off the right leg and shoots with his right hand. A typical one-legged fadeaway is executed with the shooting arm being opposite the jumping leg, which is more stable for shot release.
The high dribble into the shoulder turn is perfect. The footwork begins this beauty move, but the upper body transfer of power is just as remarkable.

sombor shuffle is strange to me cause the natural instinct for a right handed shooter is to lift the right knee when performing a one legged shot. the bottom half and the top half of the joker seem to have two independent brains and coordination processes
You mean his trying to unlock the other 50% of his brain 🤯
perhaps that's why he can evade so easily.
it prolly is a weird shot to defend, hence why it's harder to block
idk i don't have much basketball knowledge so that's my guess

Jokic and Embiid are just a joy to watch. They are some of the most versatile big men the league has seen. Hope to see them at the top of their game for a long time
It's honestly a really hard shot to pull off. Much more natural to shoot of your opposite foot to the hand you shoot with. Hence why everyone else's are generally a leap of their left foot and shoot with right. Really amazing to see his accuracy shooting like this!
