      Fighter pilot? The pictures of her in the back seat of an F-16 is her getting an "orientation ride." Her name tag doesn't have her name - it says "Miss Colorado." She got a pilot training slot on graduation from the Academy, but went to Harvard instead.

      @@unknownrider3071 she is on training to be a fighter pilot duh shes a airforce officer from the academy who is chosen by the academy to be train to be a pilot . If you were chosen by the airforce to be a pilot you have to be trained first thats what they do. They go to flight school as a LT in the military. Btw she also have her private pilot license. You seriously have no clue how hard to bechosen to getsend tothe airforce academy and to be chosen to be a pilot is even harder.

      @@nj190 No you're wrong. She does have a pilot slot, but first she has to pass, and then if she does pass, they get assigned based on needs. So she could be flying literally anything. from her Wikipedia entry .. Marsh attended Southside High School, and graduated in 2019. As a child and teenager, she participated in space camps and flying lessons, receiving her pilot license at age 16. This led her to enroll in the United States Air Force Academy in El Paso County, Colorado, graduating with a degree in astrophysics in 2023. Upon her graduation, Marsh became a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force. Marsh later enrolled in the Harvard Kennedy School to pursue a Master of Public Policy. It’s dumb to do otherwise. She has even gone to Pilot training if she decide on the 8-10 extra commitment. It might not be smart for her to do so.
      Pilot training in the past has a way of eating you up and spitting you out. 40 percent washout rate when I went through. I assumed it would be rough, it was, and I ended up DG. But then again it’s difficult nowadays to wash out a quota baby.

    • @dakaodo
      @dakaodo Před 5 měsíci

      @jeaniekim9951 In my own experiences working with others, I've found that people who have 1) worked in very difficult fields to achieve success AND 2) did so with a commitment/upbringing in lifelong learning and/or service (as she mentions in her interview) are more likely to be accepting of others, to understand and accept their own or others' limits, and ultimately to be humble or at least realistic. A balanced exposure to both failures AND successes in the face of challenges scaled to a person's abilities helps give them perspective in the course of building greater abilities and skills. Recognizing but not settling for limits, if you will.
      Madison Marsh's educational, professional, and personal challenges definitely tick the boxes for all the above.
      I'd argue that people like Sam Bankman-Fried, Martin Shkreli, and Elizabeth Holmes OTOH were fed an imbalanced diet of successes without sufficient exposure to failures, leading them to take ever greater risks until they hit a risk they did not survive career-wise. Also, lack of focus on and incentive for valuing and helping others, but that one's obvious.

      @@tonyvelasquez6776 “she will definitely be flying something military unless she chooses not to”. Most fail out against their will. And she’s probably not a great pilot as I stated so. No she won’t be “definitely” flying something. In fact she almost definitely won’t fly anything in the military.

    This is so great seeing a graduate of the US Air Force Academy and active duty USAF pilot crowned as Miss America 2nd Lt. Madison Marsh!!! Awesome job!!! I attended US Military Academy at West Point for 2 years and was a 3rd generation West Pointer. My father graduated from West Point class of 1951 and his father, my grand father graduated from West Point in 1923 and retired as a 3 star general. My father passed away of lung cancer a few years ago and was buried at the West Point cemetery near my grand father and his wife. I take my hat off to 2nd Lt. Marsh for a job well done!!!

      My father was a fighter pilot and test pilot in the Air Force before he was medically grounded because he was diagnosed with MS. My grand father was a pilot in the Army Air Corps and was the 2nd US pilot to fly the jet air plane, 1st US military pilot, while it was top secret during world war II. Both my father and my grand father were members of a very elite club, the caterpillar club. In order to get into the caterpillar club a military pilot has to bail out of a US military aircraft the has a malfunction and parachute down to earth safely and be able to tell their story! I'm sure that 2nd Lt. Marsh understands what that means. 😀😀😀

    While she had certain special dispositions from the US Air Force to participate in the Beauty Pageants and the Miss America Competition, the next year she will be assigned to "special duty" to be Miss America and be a very positive spokesperson for the Air Force. At the same time I believe that the Air Force will keep her flying enough to keep her flight skills current.
    When I was in the US Navy in the late 1970's there was an very good athlete who started out with special dispositions to compete and was told he would be assigned to "special duty" if they qualified for the national team and the next Olympics. He left the ship shortly after as he was assigned a land assignment to be able to compete (hard to train and compete if your ship is deployed). I don't know if he qualified for the national team or not.
