    Waveform 12 is fire just made the switch from studio one the workflow is simple esp. if your familiar with Ableton and Cubase it seems to have a ill bit of both incorporated

    +1 for the possibility of alternative skins, I dont mind the track view so much, but I personally think the Mixer design is not the best it could be.

    I don't know if you still have not found a solution but I would recommend keeping your track routings stereo and use the waveform mono plugin that the daw provides. You can then change it into mono and stereo back and forth whenever you like. It's a little cumbersome to get the plugin for every track from the plugin menu but beats going into settings.
    Also, you can probably quick select the plugin somehow.
    I just hope they would put a mono/stereo button on every track. That would save time and the amount of clicks.
    It's one of the best daws I've ever used in every way but I do have a couple of pet peeves with it but you can live with them.
    The recording may be done in a way that you arm track 1 and then you route audio output from track 1 to track 2.
    Now they are routed parralel and the signal is visible in both tracks and can be heard doubled.
    Now you should be able to arm both tracks and record both of them. Hope this helps.

      Thanks for the comment. I should mention that selecting the same physical input to multiple tracks is possible in the Pro version. This is one of the free version limitations.

    Adjusting the font and color scheme will go a long way in making Waveform look slick. Doesn't look as smooth as Studio One, for example, but certainly pleasing to the eye.
    I use Waveform alongside Reason (talking about outdated UI😉).....and waveform more than meets my needs). The pro version is now on offer for €79 euros.....bargain!!

    I like WF DAW however I'm having issues with my midi at times just won't cone through regardless of settings. Then once I'm half way through producing I can get my midi to come off a track so like I want to build a new track everytime I press keys on my midi it will keep playing from a previous track and again no matter my settings etc.

    How to mark an end of a song? I want the playhead to stop at the end and I don't know how to do it in Waveform 12,5 (pro)! This is annoyance for me... The multiple track recording using one source option is available in pro version (in free edition this feature is hidden). And I prefer light color theme, It looks somewhat like Ableton Live... :)

    • @RecordingStudio9

      That’s something I would be annoyed too. It’s the same with many DAWs. I know you can set a stop marker in Studio One and the play head will stop at any point.

  • @fightinggamesforever3364

    Sounds pretty petty tbh. How often are you reconfiguring your matrix? I mean if you are talking about once or twice an hour, just suck it up, it's a free DAW.

    • @RecordingStudio9
      @RecordingStudio9  Před rokem +3

      Thanks. I own the Pro as well. When you have clients and in a recording session, it’s very annoying. You obviously don’t have clients you work with. Every project is different and with no I/O matrix saved, it’s lot of time wasted each time you open a project.
      I owed and used Tracktion since version 3. If I didn’t like using it, I would not have spent money upgrading each version. It’s about improving a product via feedback.
      Thank again for watching.

    Hmm... yeah, I can see how this would be SUPER annoying -Luckily I don't need to mess around with my inputs, but... Have you figured out a workaround yet? Waveform is just sooo streamlined, though. I learned it in about 2 hours, whereas with Reaper, I've been messing around with it for a year now and can't even do basic functions... Waveform is INCREDIBLY easy -Easiest of all the daws I've tried by a MILE -Studio One, Cakewalk, Reaper, Ardour, Audacity, maybe a few others... Can you move the menu bar (stop, play, fast forward, rewind) to the top of waveform or is it always stuck on the bottom? - I haven't been able to find a way to move that thing around, yet... Also -haven't found a way to switch the polarity of tracks, yet! Reaper just has a little switch on each channel, which is nice -That's the only good thing about reaper... Haha! Cheerio!

      i own waveform since version 9 and it has some nice features about it, but i hardly ever use it, because i constantly run into stability issues. either it is crashing or doesn’t load my plugins or does some other funny things. that was on win, mac and linux! so in the end i always used reaper, if i wanted to get something done seriously.

    • @boobo3763
      @boobo3763 Před rokem

      @@stephenbreitling2327 Right! I use Reaper for serious tracking and mixing -But, I have had ZERO issues with waveform stability-wise, and I would MUCH rather edit and comp in Waveform -I could never get the editing aspect of Reaper! Also, I've had problems with the metronome feature in Reaper lining up with click tracks that I bring in from other DAWS -No such problems in Waveform. I admire anybody who can use Reaper as their standalone DAW!! Too complicated for me, by and large! One BIG drawback, and the main reason I don't use Waveform for mixing (other than the bridge in Reaper, which lets me use 32 bit plugins, which I LOVE...) is that the undo-redo function does not apply to volume, panning or plugin parameters!! Makes waveform almost USELESS for me for mixing... SO silly!! I'd like to start using Soundbridge more, but there aren't very many good tutorials on it and it's quite tricky to use! Quite odd, imo.

    Waveform does not make the cut as a professional DAW yet. Working with multi instruments vst's is almost impossible and the custumer service is practically non existent! Good for beginners, a PIA for professional use.

    • @RecordingStudio9
      @RecordingStudio9  Před měsícem

      It’s a personal choice to suit your workflow and needs. There is no such thing as Professional DAW. It’s all about the end result. It’s as professional as your experience 😉

      @@RecordingStudio9 Then, Waveform does not meet the workflow standards of the most experience producers working professionally in music. ( And yes, no matter how you word it, like with everything there are categories also in DAW's: for beginners, intermediate and professional users)

    Wow, these are the most minuscule grievances I've ever seen, you need to lighten up. Swapping input tracks takes about 3 microseconds, I can't believe you're swapping instruments around on your mixer so much this has become a life problem for you. With twin recording - just copy the recorded track once it's recorded. Exactly the same result with less DSP strain on your system. Pretty easy stuff, really.

    • @RecordingStudio9
      @RecordingStudio9  Před rokem +1

      Thanks for your comment.
      You obviously never worked with paying clients where every minute counts. Each client brings their own instruments and it can change all the time.
      I owned and learned how to use Tracktion from version T3 and currently own Waveform 12 Pro, but as just another DAW for a few workflow reasons I mentioned in this video. So, I'm not complaining, but demonstrating some of its workflow annoyances.
      BTW, the input selection issue does not exist in the PRO version.
