    I spoke to the chap in B&Q and he said don’t buy base C, buy base A. It’s the same stuff but you get more of it in base A. In base C, they have to leave more room in the can for colours that use more pigment, so there’s less base in the can.

      @@OasisAcrylics Hi there, it's true that you get more in a tin of Base A but it's not the same product as Base C. The B&Q assistant who was trying to convince me to take Base A opened tins of both to show me - Base A is used to make their palest colours so it already has some white pigment in it which will obviously affect any colours you mix with it. Base C is almost clear when dry so all the colour comes from your acrylic paint. There's a reason why everyone else uses Base C!

    Thanks for this but I wanted let others know my experience today: I tried to get some of the base C in Valspar Wood & Metal, but they wouldn't sell it with our adding colour - against some sort of trading standards! Anyway I managed to get around it by asking them to just add two drops of white that they would normally put in a tester pot and then not stir/shack it. I'm hoping it has sunk to the bottom and wont affect it's use for this technique. When I eventually have time to paint!

      Same here. I had quite the discussion with a very helpful member of B&Q staff who showed me that their Valspar is graded a b c and only means the quantity of paint each tin holds before they mix colour in. All were white already. They looked at me like I was mad when I asked for it untinted. No such thing they said.😔

    Hi. Thanks for making this for us the in UK, the whole mixing of paints has been baffling me 😄😄. In the video you don't mention what sort of quantity of the home base emulsion you used when you mixed in the gac800? Also, how do you finish them off? Do you resin or varnish them and what about the undersides if you were using them for coasters? Thanks very much

    • @OasisAcrylics
      @OasisAcrylics  Před 4 lety +3

      Hi Elle, I didn't weigh the paint but it was roughly half a pint of emulsion and to that I added 4oz of GAC 800 and then the water. You don't have to be exact with the emulsion as long as your consistency is right so that the colours can sit on top of it without sinking through it you should be fine 💕

      No not white. I get it from b&q, if you go to the desk where they mix the paints to your colour choice and ask for valspar wood & metal base c, they will ask what colour you want, just tell them you don't want it tinted with anything and that it's for an art project they're fine about it x

      Hi sorry didn't read the whole message, the pillow paint is just normal wall and ceiling paint brilliant white, though you can use any colour. The colours go on top of the emulsion which are mixed with the untinted valspar and mod podge. Then the cell activator which is Amsterdam titanium white and Australian floetrol goes on top of the colours, hope that helpsx

    Dulux white emulsion as a pillow (i also tested other paints)
    Gloss wood stain + gloss modpodge according to your ratio +paint
    And cell activator I tested with paint and just water, and I tried with paint + floetrol + water.
