- Wera, a German tool company, makes a variety of hand tools. I'd thought I'd start my relationship with Wera Tools It's a socket/bit set with sockets and wonderful ratchet.

Pozidrive is the most common screw head in Germany. It is now slowly replaced by Torx. Most of the wood screws are PZ-2. I have never seen a Robertson head.
not really ... simply look SPAX, how many are PZ & how many Torx; PZ seems common is mostly thanks to Ikea 😅. However most European MCB are PZ2, whether ABB or Schneider And you are right, Robertson does not exist in Europe but Wera has many ; Bosch make funny P2R2 bits for north Am market
@@williamboss746 flat head < phillips < pozi/umbraco < torx
@@williamboss746 Yeah, unfortunately ABB/Schneider/Anything else electrical in industrial is either PZ or flathead. Puke :(
@@qtprot German brand Wera has PZ/S, PZ&slot 2 in 1 & in VDE spec 1000VAC
Robertson heads are mostly seen in Canada, as they were designed by a Canadian.
Wera has actually moved their production to the Czech Republic in 1995 when they built their own factory there. The headquarters are still right around the corner from me in Wuppertal, Germany tho.
Oh, and the Böker Plus line of knives is actually also made outside of Germany. They still make a fair amount of knives here in Solingen, but have also built a big line of imported knives, as German labor costs are just too prohibiting for many customers, often me including.
@11:11 I *LOVE* the Rapidaptors. A friend of mine recommended them to me. He said "Life's too short to constantly have to reach down and grab the bit from the screw" LOL. Also, you can operate it one handed. It clicks open, but stays open so you can put in a new bit. Very easy to do one handed. So when you're up on a ladder, and you have to change bits, it's quite useful. It's the small things in hand tools that put a smile on my face. Finally, I have the same kit and the low profile ratchet comes in so handy when working with tracksaws. When you adjust the saw to a track, it's hard to get a screwdriver to work. But the Wera ratchet from the kit works perfectly. I constantly reach for it now.
A huge amount of Wera and Festool is made in the Czech Republic. I have many products from both and cannot fault the quality. Great observation.
I've had a similar Wera bit set - just the bits and an extension - for about a decade. Likely longer. None of the bits are stripped and it's my go-to for this kind of thing. Yes, it is very handy having the Pozi bits. Assembled a Craftsman shop chair; couldn't believe that it needed a Pozi. I have other bit sets, too, like most folks: Milwaukee, DW, Makita, Bosch, Astro. I prefer the Wera. I also have two of the ratcheting drivers - the long and the shorter one like yours - and three of their bit handles in various sizes. Screwdrivers, too. Their diamond tips can often grip a stripped fastener. Great stuff.
I’ve had this kit for a couple years and it goes with me on every motorcycle trip I take. My trips range from 3 days to 10 days and we are often way back in the mountains, so having quality tools is essential. I’ve never had a problem with this kit
Wera makes my favorite stuff. I like their innovation
Wera are by far the best tools I’ve ever owned. I have some of the “Joker” wrenches now, as well as the ratcheting screwdriver handle with the rapid bit tech. I also recently ponied up for one of the high end bit sets and man, I had striped three previous bits, then switched to the Wera. The Wera bits made short work of it. I have a feeling I’ll be passing those wrenches down to my son one day, Maybe even the bits!
I could have sworn I thanked you for the shout out certainly appreciated the kind words!!
I'll be giving you another shout out just as soon as my Snap On pocket pry bars arrive. But I cannot find that triple joint needle nose plier anywhere, and snap on corporate is not sell ing them online yet. Want to sell yours?
@@lastbesttool I will see if I can get you a pair I'm not letting mine go they are so awesome!!
Fords fender liners are held in with 5.5mm bolts 🤷🏻♂️
All m3 bolts use the 5.5mm nuts
Your Look Skrewdriver seams to be a Wera as well!
I was going to say that too...
Me too
I always like your style and vernacular, thank you for your wisdom and time.
1:38 the hand engraved number is an inventory number, in the eastern bloc and still today its fairly common for companies to register expensive stuff like measuring equipment in an inventory log, to keep track of what they have and don't have
Nice watch.
I’ve needed a 5.5 on chevy blower motors and resistors! I’ve heard about wera and it’s definitely interesting. Considering getting some myself
I have the 3/8 ratchet and sockets from Wera. Really nice! Hard to build a set though.
The Whole Czech Republic just went "Uuuuuuuu...."
Nice tool set and nice watch.
I’m a tool guy and a watch guy!
Where tools rival snap-on. They have a screwdriver with the bits hidden inside the handle. The shaft is fully hidden within the handle for stubby use but can be extended the length of the handle as a regular screwdriver. Also the entire shift can be removed for use as a bit holder in a drill or impact tool or as a longer extension for that tool set you were demonstrating. Look up their JOKER combination wrenches.
Have the same- a must have😂
You had me worried for a moment, thought you was going to say Made in China. Will get one ordered up soon. Nice review.
that´s life, you never kno when you are going to need a neck knife....now this is an interesting review ;)
Pozidriv is the most common drive type seen in carpentry and construction in the UK, though Phillips tends to predominate on machinery. And I've never seen a Robertson screw in my life, though I have plenty of bits for them in various sets!
I’ve only seen a Robertson screw once in ten years and it happened to be on a very important job. Not one person on site had a Robertson driver, I’ve learnt my lesson and bought every size Robertson driver yet haven’t seen one since lmao.
@@i_know_youre_right_but I still haven't seen a Robertson screw, and my Robertson bits continue to gather dust! Evidently they are very common in Canada, where they were invented, and I believe they are found in marine applications on boats etc, but for the kind of stuff I work on, I'm more likely to need a five-sided security Torx bit or a tri-wing or some such exotic driver than a Robertson.
Suggest you add the 1/4" to 4mm bit driver for the larger handle, really makes using 4mm bits easier to use
You should try the wera kraftform 27 ra. Its got both the pop out bits and the ratcheting.
Nice watch! 👍
You can see by looking at the shape of the red screwdriver that it comes from WERA, too, probably from the 80/90ies
Anyone know why my case is different? It doesn’t have that spring loaded button to release the bits
Pozis used to be used on British and French cars (now almost all Torx) but all builders use Pozi in the UK.
Qual o modelo dessa caixa de ferramentas da Snap on? Você já fez um review dela?
I’m looking forward to seeing more with this driver. Especially want to see it compared to the SnapOn versions. Do the short bits lock in place as well?
Euro bits fit Euro bitholder perfectly, including 25 ㎜ short type
Those are closer to jewelry than tools but they are beautiful.
I get Wera tools, I think they’re good, but I mostly never personally like most of the stuff I have used from them. However, that little bit ratchet is a true gem. I’ve had it for 7-8 years and it has held up to a lot of abuse. I keep it in my “go” box. It’s always with me and it has saved me a lot of headaches. That “rapidaptor” is probably the best locking bit holder on the market (with the obvious caveat of it’s bulkiness). My mother has the pop-out bit storage model you mentioned. When all is said and done, it’s way too complicated and the extendable/removable bit holder results in too much wobble imho. The goods: screwdrivers, bits, bit organization, hex and torx keys. The meh: the ratchet and socket range. AVOID: their stupid wrenches.
Thanks for the insights. And the advice on their wrenches. I am curious about them but the small jaw range has kept me away. I like my Knipex Plier Wrenches with their huge range.
I’ve never experienced wobble with my bit holder and the extension comes out probably a dozen times a day to be put in my impact driver. But I try to not abuse my tools, not saying she does could be an older model or I just got lucky and have tighter specs
@@lastbesttool you should try their 6002, it is not fully standard DIN3113 on open end & DIN3124 on box end; but it fit your hands, simply good. You can buy one 10mm from both Wera & Gedore 7 series (which is standard DIN), and try to loose & tight your battery terminal.
Their stupid wrenches??? I also love the Knipex plier wrench, also own top- notch wrenches from brands like Gedore etc., but the Wera Jokers are a class of their own. They hold the nuts.
@@muxmurki1497 Yeah, the Wera wrenches are quite polarizing. I don’t like them. But if others (like yourself) like them….well…awesome. 😄
Where do you get that bit extension for 1/4 in socket?
I have a few of vintage craftsman sockets in 5.5. I wish someone could give me some history on that.
So wera vs snap on vs facom… which one is better ?
On second thought, I think that’s a Deep Sea… Considerably more interesting than a Submariner.
Yes, a DSSD
What is the name of snap on mini ratchet with hole for finger on the end ?
Have you tried the new Icon ratcheting bit set yet? Which would you pick between the Icon and the Wera?
Being new to E-Bikes would Wera's 1/4" Bicycle Set Torque 1, 16 Pieces be a good choice in your view?
This one? czcams.com/video/IxmOq0hGgFs/video.html
@4:45 Doc, your old 'Look' pozi is in fact a Wera - I'm surprised the penny hasn't dropped, just compare that handle profile to your other Wera screwdrivers, I've a set in black.
My 816ra is very wobbly in the shaft. Anyone else have this issue?
Any update on the bit kit?
You know that the red screwdriver you have there is also Wera. Older model that was rebranded.
The Czechs make, and have made for a long time, high quality small arms
Yup. CZ makes good stuff. My tastes in the auto world lean more Austrian, with America for wheels. Japan for the larger bore long barrels, and England for smoothbores.
Are the bits Impact rated
just found this video. the plastic on the wera boxes just slides off. it is also made for the part of the world where you do not carry a knife everywhere
I see some interest in 5.5 bolt head. Well, bit heads have 6 sides, are too small for nr.6 socket and don't fit in nr.5 socket, so I gues 5.5 socket is more like a second bit holder.
It's amaying for me that in America they don't une pozidrive that much, it's much better than philips in any aspect and invented by american company. Here in Europe we use it often, actually philips is used mostly in black drywall screws.
For your info Czech have long tradition of high quality metal industry and machining, between two world wars Skoda cars were among the best on world also Skoda produced heavy artillery guns and during Nazi occupation Germans didnt touch the fabrics and continue to supply armament to them
Nice watch also what kind is it ?
Thanks !
DSSD
Nearly every wood screw is pz1,2 or 3 in the uk
The red Posidrive screwdriver looks like an unbranded WERA product?
That's true, it has the same shape as the kraftform handles 🤔
@@mrwendell4564 Check out autobahndan you would be surprised by the amount of different companies that have Wera make their screwdrivers for them and use that same shape but will have little different features. That is a OLD school Wera screwdriver.
@@Toyotas_n__Tools that's a nice vintage piece, then. 👍 I like it
I have a tough time thinking tools I bought new are now vintage. But it's not for me to decide.
You've been using Wera for years. That Look PZ screwdriver is by Wera.
Don't buy any pop out holder, same applies to bits inside handle. For Ratchet screwdriver, actually you should compare with Gedore 2675 SilentGear, unfortunately it is not available in US Amazon. All Wera bit adaptor whether for manual or impact driver, the bit holder part is too thick, you can not even deal with Ikea 😅. Thus if you like Wera exchangeable handle, go for Wera 810 or 812, same shape, only difference is the bit holder method, mechanical or magnetic. Also Wera 400 T handle & Stubby handle are good to have in case you need work inside confined space like inside drawer.
Looks like it is on US Amazon now. Why do you like the Gedore? I usually see MegaPro and Wera recommended for ratchet drivers.
@@andrewhua4972 Gedore is totally silent! No „ga-la-ga-la“ sound. In Eu, around €15… just test, you won’t be bankruptcy 😀
👍👍👍👍👍❤❤❤❤❤
Wera has wicked Robertson and beater flat blades. I beat the crap out of mine, never buy another one
Why do all US &A reviews have to have knife’s or guns as part of review
Good question. But not all of them. Just many.
Felo в руке лучше сидит, чем Wera. Сам опробовал, есть и то и другое.
Snap on more like snap off because I’ve broken more snap on tools than any other brand plus they are over priced
So did WERA copy that LOOK handle?
Believe you mee that 90% people in Check Republic liwe better than 90% of people if SAD .
Czech republic is Soviet Union? LOL
Americans and geography. xDDD
their slogan - "Be a tool rebel!" is fucking cringeworthy. That would've appealed to me when I was 12, now I'd be embarrassed by it.
