  • #TheNeurosurgeons are taking you through a journey to the kitchen of one of the biggest hospital in the UK, Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow. A lot happens in the hospital, not just treatment and surgery, catering is one of the biggest tasks to manage.

Food was always good when I was a patient last year. Especially the soup & the apple crumbles!

I’m glad to hear Carol. That isn’t the usual reputation of hospital food!

Food was absolutely lovely when I came in for my ICP Bolt 😀 would you both be interested in covering what the ins and outs are of Chiari Malformation brain decompression surgery? I’m on the waiting list to have surgery with Mr Taylor at the QEH

Sorry, this is in no way a personal attack, but the food was terrible the last three times I have been in hospital. The vegetables are boiled to death and 8 out of 10 days I was given watery overboiled diced carrots no matter what I ordered. On the ninth there was a miniscule piece of broccoli boiled until it was grey. The combinations are weird too. Macaroni cheese and mash and boiled carrots?? Fresh fruit and salads are unheard of. I eat absolutely anything but the food at QEUH is a step too far. Perhaps it caters to the famously bad Glasgow diet but definitely not for me. Shame because the care was otherwise exemplary.

We are very sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy the food at QEUH. As you understand we don’t have direct involvement in the catering side. Patients feedback is always useful to help improve the service at all levels, thanks for taking time to write your review.
