- Minimally edited, head mounted GoPro footage from the Commemorative Air Force's Boeing B-29 Superfortress "FiFi" on landing runway 36L at Airventure 2024 in Oshkosh, WI on the Sunday evening before the show started.
Raw footage is the best, no music no gabbing.
No doubt about it.
Abso-dang-lutely.
The open view from that cockpit is beyond cool!
I got a VIP tour of Boeing's Renton plant for my 8th birthday. At the plant, there was a B-29 fuselage sitting outside one of the buildings, and I got to sit in the pilot's seat. The view was like... you feel like God. And that plane sure did deliver the wrath of God. Such a beautiful, beautiful airplane, conceived and built for such a terrible purpose. Life involves suffering.
aka the greenhouse.
That is something that you don't see everyday. Thanks for the video. 😁
"if it's big enough for a B-52, it's big enough for us, right?" HAHAHAHA...yes I suppose there is no arguing with that logic. Cool video and approach!
Calm down Chewy! What do you mean you're working on it!?!? We need hyperdrive now!
The cockpit must have been an influence to that film!
@@22pcirish the gunner stations too
I absolutely loved seeing this beauty at Oshkosh this year.
Much love - from a Wisconsinite.
My dad was a crew member on the B-29 Georgia Peach, 58th Bomb Wing, 468th Bomb Group, 793rd Bomb Squadron. Flew the first B-29 combat missions to Japan from their base in Chengdu China.
Salutes!
Thanks to your dad for his military service.
B-29 BABY!! What an feather-bed landing!
Great footage, thanks! Got to tour FiFi back in 1983 with my dad when I was a kid; have some great pics... so glad to see her still flying and going strong!
B-29 is a beautiful piece of history! Keep the ol'bird in the air! 🤩
Right on the center line baby!
I have gotten a ride on FIFI in Prescott Arizona some years back. It was an amazing!!
Memory of a lifetime !!
Thanks "Fifi"... that was a smooth ride!!!
Awesome perspective, thanks for sharing
saw FIFI 32-33 yrs ago in Gainesville FL. have a picture of my 2 yr old son looking down at me on the ground from the nose bubble. Great plane great video
Wow. What a view. Thank you. Perfect landing!!
I'm always amazed at how much they have to move the yoke around to get the aircraft to do something. It reminds me of my 62 Ford Galaxie.
Really really cool FiFi. My favorite vid from Oshkosh 2024 no doubt. Great camera work. Stunning approach. Very well done gents. 🙏🏼
I always think about those pilots who used to fly on these things without gps or modern instruments and plus, taking fire from fighters
They had navigation back then. It wasn't GPS but it worked
And the ages of the men flying then. Very impressive.
Its wonderful to see these amazing planes still going, my favourite is the Mosquito, but great to see others, thank you.
Thank you from a CAF member in Amsterdam.
I’ve had the opportunity to ride on Doc. The ride was impressively smooth. Especially considering the fact that these planes are 80 years old. The only time it jerked around was during taxying, which is to be expected since they use the brakes to turn.
What a view!
Neat! Thanks for keeping the memory alive!
My father was an B-29 aircraft commander in Saipan during WWII. 25 years old and I think he weighed 140 pounds. These are amazing to see
Always love it when FiFi visits Drake Field here in Northwest Arkansas! The C-47 “That's All, Brother” was here over the weekend and left this morning. So glad these aircraft are loved and protected. One of these days I hope to be able to afford a ride when she’s in town.❤
I have some videos like this on my channel from flying That's All Brother as well!
Ditto.
Good grief what a landing. Just amazing.
Beautiful machine, so honored to be flying on it.
What a smooth landing. Right on the numbers. That's a big bird with a lot of sail in the air. He makes it look so easy.
Lol my brain is battling with the vintage era of this aircraft and the modern Garmin GPS unit - awesome!
I love the sound of those engines. It's like a gentle roar.
Oh how I would love a trip in one.
wow what a cool looking cockpit thanks for the video
That was one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a while! I caught your approach and landing to IAG Niagara Falls a few years ago (where I think you had to replace a pot on one engine) and it’s really cool to see it from your perspective! 😎😎
My dad was a mechanic in the Air Force in the early 50's. He used to describe working on those radial engines. I would love to have one of those engines in the back yard to fire up!
Outstanding landing!
OUTSTANDING!! Thank you for posting.
Just a comment, and not to be rude, but if that bombardier/bomb aimer was to put down those damn cameras and witness history happening, he would be properly blessed with a gift most of us only dream about. A clip-on frame mount and a full battery will capture everything you guys want to share with loved ones later. Just turn it on 10 minutes out. For that matter- I'm certain MANY people would volunteer to set up 4 simple cameras at various angles that you ALL could then download and share with family and friends. We appreciate the efforts for quick phone sent pictures, but damn guys- ENJOY THAT PRECIOUS MOMENT to yourselves!!! That feeling.. the smells... the sounds... the emotion... only your human mind can capture this, don't let it slip away. The simple effort of placing 4, inexpensive cameras, to then provide the lucky flight crew proper memories... those guys who put in all that time and effort on that 'bird deserve it. Don't dilute the landing atmosphere by worrying about pictures for family and friends.
Excuse my rambling... THANK YOU for sharing and THANK YOU for all the hours spent saving/prepping this jewel to share with us. God Bless.

im fascinated that your perception while they were grabbing personal clips couldn’t possibly be to the level you mentioned…. im certain they all regularly experience all of the above and were stoked to fly into oshkosh. just my two cents.
Just makes me grin from ear to ear!
Extremely cool! Thank you for making & posting.
Awesome video, smooth landing!😉 It is intresting how good view from the cockpit. Good old bird...😊
Thank you for posting this. It's something I will never get to experience in real life.👍👍
That is so awesome! Thanks so much for sharing this.
That is so cool!! 😂 Like being in a time machine, literally.
The time of Boeings best work.Seen FiFi at a show in the late 80s near my house,I have 110 camera photos to prove it..lol
Got to go inside years ago at Westfield Barnes and it was a fantastic experience! Hope y'all keep her flying for many years to come!
Great seeing this airplane @OSH! Thanks for sharing this video!
This might be the coolest thing I've seen this year.
Fantastic! Thanks for sharing! Lovely landing BTW. ;)
This perspective is perfect 😎
Would be. ice to see it also from outside. Love these old planes
How freaking cool is that!!! What a view. Even some updated avionics. Really cool. Thanks
Cool! Just got to take a tour of her a couple days ago in Lincoln, Nebraska
Look like "The Millenium Falcon" in Star Wars. Wonderful, thanks for the video. ✌
Fantastic! Thank you !
Excellent landing..
Great video
Very, very cool. I've loved the B-29 since I was a wee lad. Super cool.
Awesome! Thank you!
man its cool to go from the kid waving at the guy flying the B-29 to the guy flying the B-29 waving back at the kid. -Gabe
@TennesseeArborist absolutely. Just being on the other side of the rope is a dream come true. Funnily enough, after this flight I had a friend's 6 year old son help me ride brakes and wave at the crowd as we were towed into position on the show ramp
That was very very VERY cool. All of the thoughts that seeing something like that evokes. ALL THAT HAS COME BEFORE US..! What an amazing chunk of machinery....
Took a look around this plane at an airshow around 1990. It was very very old back then. It still looks to be in great shape.
That's a Lifetime Experience right there!!❤
You guys flew right over me when you landed in Columbia Missouri, beautiful airplane.
Awesome POV. The control inputs seem to be massive
A beautiful Machine!
Quite the handful. What a Machine.👍
beautiful landing captain...
Fantastic landing!
What a view from the cockpit.....
Very cool! Had a chance to get on a B17 once, the B29 looks awesome. Nice video!
3:10 - Train! Cool too to see this amazing plane landing with a view from the cockpit!
What a lot of modern instruments!
TALK ABOUT Pilot's POV !!!!!! How fortunate those are who get to fly her. Great video....no yapping or stupid music.
Loved it!
A surprising amount of aileron required there on final. 90 degrees at times. Makes me wonder if yoke rotates much more. Anyway, thank you very much for sharing. Incredible view.
Thats real flying, poor guy up the front looked scared on final. It also looked like he had a vintage GoPro2, not sure how his video will turn out he looked a tad shakey there
Was giving me Millennium Falcon vibes.
Very cool, thanks.
Well heck, I had no idea that I knew a genuine CZcams Influencer! Great video! (I subscribed and rang the bell, etc. etc.)
Thank you so much.
What a view.
What a lot of photographers!
right there with you, guys...be well, all
Looks like the Millennium Falcon cockpit lol
B29 Superfortress, right up there with the Connie and the F35 B.
That was crisp 😎 awesome view!
I flew on Fifi as part of a media day event before the weekend air show in our city. It was a fabulous once-in-a-lifetime ride, but the grim reality was B-29 bombers - and in other WWII bombers/fighters - tens of thousands of airmen died in battle! *The Eighth Air Force suffered more than 47,000 casualties in World War II, including over 26,000 deaths, which is more than half of the U.S. Army Air Force's total.*
I saw ya at Camarillo air show looking good fly safe cheers !
Fantastic :)
Nice! Thanks for sharing
Awesome video. Watch those views SOAR
Fifi is a national treasure
Nice landing Curt.
It is said, mes amis, that sometime after the first B-29 aeroplatform did a low level recon-mission o'er Tokyo, the Empress Nagako (the wife of Emperor Hirohito), wrote in a letter:
“Every day from morning to night, B-29's fly freely over the palace making an enormous noise. As I sit at my desk writing and look up at the sky, countless numbers are passing over. Unfortunately... the B-29 is a splendid plane.”
Good video….I flew in the “Berlin Express” the B25….with little more coordination, I could have possibly done a double turn and rode the B-25 and B29….maybe next year!
This was totally rad....
The B stands for "Butter"! 🏆
Какой же он здоровый! В первые кадры мне показалось, что я смотрю Звездные Войны из кабины тысячелетнего сокола, и недоумевал, где Хан Соло и Чуи 😂
I been watching 12 O'clock Hi on CZcams awesome crazy time. Men with big one.. Respect everyone of them~~ thx guys..
Thanks Curt for the upload. And pilot's point of view! (Almost) as good as a true Rube-Goldberg flying contraption. A Bell 47...or any helicopter.
Cool aircraft.
