One of the most thoughtful, resourceful well designed mechanisms in the log splitting pursuits. Bravo!!!
***** Thank you! I'm very impressed with this product as well.
Good video; concise, informative and no waffle. Good product which has given me some ideas. I'm a leg amputee so being able to stand and cut is what I really need.
Thanks, I highly recommend this with an added locking pin, that I installed myself.
Thanks for the video!
Remember, slow and steady wins the race. BE CAREFUL! Rushing for a video isn’t worth getting hurt. Best of luck.
Thanks, good advice! I also made a a follow up video where I put a locking pin in the Wood Dock, for safety.
Thanks for the great review. Were it me, I believe I would drill and pin the rascal so it didn’t swing. As you said, “you can’t be too careful”, and the hairs on the back of my neck shot up when you started chasing that swinging log. But a terrific idea overall.
Yes, great idea. I made a follow up video a year after this video where I did the exact thing you mentioned. Now I always lock it in place. The Wood Dock is holding up well after all these years. I just need to spray paint it for cosmetic purposes.
Pretty ingenious. I have a hitch on the front of my small tractor that would make an easy mount in the woods where I cut. But, truth be told, I rarely cut 8" or smaller logs on the ground. When I take down a dead oak for firewood, I typically process the small branches while they are still connected to the trunk. Then process the 16"-36" pieces on the ground. I guess I process differently than most folks.
Great concept and execution to fill a need. I will be buying one as soon as a I get a house with a woodburner. . .
I like this idea. I'm always towing a trailer when I go out after firewood though, and don't want to have to disconnect it from the vehicle. I reckon I'll be able to come up with an easy way to mount this log holder on either the side or the arse end of the trailer. Or I could use a stump - I've just thought of a much easier way to mount the holder in the top of a stump without the need for that additional bracket. Thanks for the clip.
You're welcome. I've seen this mounted to a trailer. It looks like it works well for that.
3:02 It’s a Reindeer!
3:59 It’s a Snake!
4:44 It’s a Zebra!
5:17 It’s a Dolphin!
This is the first log holder that I'd buy (I've already got the Logrite cant hook). I like the design, but would spend ten minutes to drill holes to pin it in one of three positions. Price is reasonable. To his credit, Mark used full safety gear and had a sharp saw. If it were 16" wide (same depth), it would be perfect for sawmill slabs, too!
Thanks, glad you like it! I actually made a follow-up video where I drilled 2 holes and put a locking pin in it, which is a safe improvement to this design. This holds the logs in very well and saves the chain from ever hitting the ground when cutting up limbs.
Hello. Splendid idea. And good dimension. Regards Tuomo Finland.
Hei, thanks for stopping by and glad you liked the video.
Exactly what I was searching for, thanks
That's cool! I have some follow-up video on this too.
Best thing I’ve ever seen but I can’t seem to find it in Canada
Can you order it from Baileys or Home Depot? I recall them being made in Michigan, not too far from the Canadian border.
I agree with others. WHY let it swing at all? IF there is a justification for that, have a locking pin.
I don't see a reason for it to swing at all.
It swings so that you can move away from the pile that accumlates. You dont have to stop and move load that pile. You swing away from the pile.
Good job sir. Certainly would be a great tool to help cutting trees
Thank you! I made a locking pin for it after posting this video. It makes it much safer to use.
That's a cool tool! The only thing I would change would be to use, probably a hitch pin, at the end of the range of the tool, which would lock it into place (by drilling a hole at the end of each range, for the hitch pin). I would not want to keep walking the tool to the end of its range (from a distraction point of view). This would still allow me to select the most advantageous angle, once in the field. The stump scenario accomplishes this by locking it into place. Great video! Great idea!!
Our first design, as you can see in the video above, had three "locked" position for the Wood Dock. However, to save on some fabrication cost, we removed that and found if the log cutter is always cutting down on the log, the log should stay in place. Excellent Video Mark !
Many thanks!
Works Great. Need a Pick-A-Roon To pick up those pieces after they are cut !
I always have that tool with me, or else some timber tongs.
That swinging side to side looks dangerous. If it was stationary it's be better
I agree. Check out this modification I made to it in this follow up video... czcams.com/video/76y8kg1X8mY/video.html
This...it's good, but needs a method for locking to a fixed angle. They need a version 2.0!
Shawn I agree too
Merci, pour cette très bonne vidéo très explicite.
Ce système est très ingénieux.
Dommage que les automobiles 4x4 soit hors de prix en France😉 je le fixerai quand même sur ma Ford Focus.
Good vidéo.
Nice product keeps the chain out of the dirt. Don't use your bumper as a shelf. that way if you forget your item it will be on the ground where you left it, not on the road!
One problem that I noticed is that it moves around on the hitch. That would drive me nuts. Good idea though. That's a small prob that can be adusted. Great product.
I didn't like the movement either. I made another video where I drilled a hole through the Wood Dock and the mount and put a tractor pin in there. It locked it in place and made it much safer.
so if you didn't like the movement, why would you give it 5 stars? seems like an dishonest review of the product. I was nervous watching you struggle to keep it in place while cutting. I would have called that one out.
Спасибо за идею. Обязательно такое себе сделаю
I like the Pipe in the ground idea. Can you stop it from rotating. I Like this.
I drilled a hole through the Wood Dock and the pipe so I can put a locking pin in it. I always have it locked now when using it.
Works great. I don't know why you would want it to swivel though...
Maybe if you were cutting a pile of limbs, it would allow you to move as you go, so you're not tripping on the ones already cut. I drilled a hole to lock it in place. No swiveling for me.
side to side sway is an accident waiting to happen. My log splitter is mounted on my track machine and i use the splitter to hold a log or even logs . I like the log holder your using but it should not swing in my opinion.
I agree. I made a follow-up video after this one showing how I drilled a hole and installed a locking pin. That's how I use it now.
I love to buy every tool to help me with my land and many many trees. But in this case, all of my smaller diameter logs 4" to 8" can be easily handled by my Log Ox. I am looking for something to handle the moving around and processing of the big logs since I am a one man show. Thanks for the video
You're welcome. I'd suggest checking out the Logrite website and looking at their arches.
Looks like a good tool with the addition of a locking pin to stop the swing but I don’t like the idea of having to pick up logs off the ground to place them in the tool, awfully hard on the back.
I always use the locking pin that I installed myself. If you pick up one end of the log and put it in the wood dock, you can go over to the other end and lift it up to lock it in place. That way you're not lifting the entire log at once and saving your back. Some people think this is a gimmick, but I'm here to say that it works awesome and saves your chain from hitting the dirt.
Mark,
Muito bom o video e o produto,naturalmente.Bem engenhoso,planejado e executado.
But,Mark,lembre-se sempre, muitas pessoas não falam ingles e assistem ao vídeo e as imagens falam por si só, sem precisar falar tanto.
Muito sucesso
Best regards
Jack
Thank you for the comment!
what is it he or she is saying
I have never used one but theory of operation dictates that the swing is desirable. Operator can swing away from poor terrain and swing away from the pile that built up and keep cutting.
I would opt for a taller stance , perhaps a verticle slider pinable stand pipe of adjustable ehhh two feet?
I agree with that. I ended up drilling a hold in it and now use a removable pin to keep it stationary. It works awesome!

I made one out of wood for my tail gate
I put a block of wood 6x6 left side of tail gate.
I then laid a massive slab of wood on the so i had inclined plane. This created a tail gate wide open > that was 6 inches down to zero.
I then ran a heavy cargo strap ratchet strap around the entire wood structure and tailgate left to right.
I would "slide my logs into that and the " open wedge" would hold the log solid
I was going to make one, but decided to buy this instead. I'm glad I did, it's built like a tank.
I thought about a design like yours. I was going to get a piece of expanded wire mesh, like on my trailer ramp to help hold it in place.
Could do with these being available in the UK
I'm not sure how far outside the US Home Depot sells a product like this
that is ingenious
I used this in a video I just uploaded this week. I'm always amazed how well it works.
I could definitely use one of these... is it available in Canada 🇨🇦?...
The only place I've seen them for purchase is BaileysOnline. If you find an answer, please reply back. Thanks
I see in you other video that you drilled and pinned the mounting shaft. don't know why its not drilled from factory in the First place I would find it annoying and unsafe having to use my leg to keep the log from moving
+1995dresser I think they made it swivel so it could be mounted on a landscape trailer and the log could be place from the ground and swung inside the trailer to be cut. I own a trailer, but wouldn't use if for that. Locking it in place was the best thing I done.
Looks good but I want to split logs for turning. Doesn't look like it would accomodate this.
It's really meant for cutting limbs into firewood with a chainsaw.
i think the problem is you have to load a new log every time, bend down pick up shove in to many moves, this will fuck you back, the best is a rack, load 50 or more and slice all in 1 move, turn of the chainsaw and load again ,50 x 4 equals 200,in 1 move,Logic.
Still have to bend over to fill your rack. Think about it. Here's the thing this guy has big box stores selling it, so he is doing something right.
I believe it's made in Michigan. The only place I've seen it listed is on Baileys website.
When do you start cutting logs and not kindling?
Haha, I think this holds up to 8" limbs. I have something cool that will be out later this week for the bigger stuff. Stay tuned.
It doesn't seem like that swinging around is safe.
I agree. I installed a locking pin and haven't taken it out yet.
I agree!
Good video. where do you obtain one?
Try Baileys... www.baileysonline.com/shop.aspx/Search?keywords=wood+dock
Nicely object there..by swing right or left it move too risky.. Should make two orbit top and bottom.. Only three holes to put in pin ..therefore one right.left. Middle..as where you are help stay one places at time.. I'll be happy share with you as friend
+Harold Williams I decided to modify the Wood Dock, so it would stay stationary. Here's a link to the video I made. I think it's a necessary improvement... czcams.com/video/76y8kg1X8mY/video.html
That's one thing I was going to say I don't like about it. It ways like that's an accident waiting to happen should be able to lock it and then move it each time the logs pile up
I put a locking pin on this in another video. The logs itself are held in secure with that great design of the Wood Dock.
I didn't like the fact that it swung to the side when you were trying to cut off the small nub on the bottom....it should be more stable
kunjidee For the most part, I'm applying downward pressure with the saw, so the side to side swing is a minor issue. Some people may like the flexibility, so they don't have to keep picking up the logs or worry about tripping on them as they're cutting the 2nd & 3rd log in a row. On the other hand, it would be nice to drill a hole through the pipe, so I can put a hitch pin in there to have the option to keep it stationary. I think I'll make a follow-up video and show the results. Thanks for commenting.
I wouldn't waste my time or energy on that thing.
It really does a great job on the 4"-8" wide pieces. Anything smaller is a little wobbly. I also added a locking pin after making this video, which the company should've done from the start.
I could have used it I hadtoday for all the trees I did today. I figure my time , had i had this device would have been cut in half
why didn't you use your timber tongs to move the logs? ;-)
Otherwise good video!
Humm, not sure why. I normally use them all the time.
There are a few factors in building a table saw. One place I found that succeeds in merging these is the Wilfs wood blueprint (check it out on google) definately the most useful resource i've seen. Check out the unbelievable info .
Why doesn't it stay in position when cutting?...that swaying can be an unexpected danger waiting to emerge.. No Bueno in my book.
I thought the same thing. I ended up drilling a hole in it to lock it down. Now it works awesome.
Under cutting a light log with no top clamp is lethal and as others mention the "swinging around" and you position to cope with it is highly dangerous. Seems to me to be not much more than a toy for little logs.
I added a locking pin to it and it very happy with the results. Otherwise, it makes me nervous.
Where do you get this?
Either BaileysOnline or Home Depot. I think Home Depot recently started selling them and I have a link to it there... homedepot.sjv.io/jWm1Zv
I'm going to add that link to my video now as well. Thanks for asking. I think I'll make an update video on this Wood Dock. It's a great firewood cutting accessory, especially after putting a locking pin in it so it doesn't swivel. I made a video about that too.
You don't cut much firewood do you
czcams.com/video/76y8kg1X8mY/video.html
interested. but where can a canadian buy it. and who makes it???
I wouldn’t want it to swivel, the log can move around while cutting, pretty dangerous
I drilled a hold and put a locking pin in mine. I never use it as a swivel anymore.
Would have made more sence if it didn't pivot
I agree. I later made a video where I put a locking pin in it. It works much better now.
ever used a cant hook with a lift adapter ...... weighs ten pounds , never have to lift any heavy logs and poke em in a hole ,,,,lol,,,,, sometimes modern technology is way over rated .... cant hooks with lift adapters have been around for a few hundred years , and are still the choice for small firewood processing .... they dont make you hurt yourself like this thing would if you try to put something in there that is either too heavy for you to lift , or too big for the device
czcams.com/video/a6rdVV04tb0/video.html
Yes, I own a Logrite Peavey with lift adapter. I posted one of my first ever videos about it. It does an amazing job on bigger stuff. The Wood Dock works well with the smaller branches.
what a goofy dude. LOL
Check out our instructional video here: The Wood Dock
whats with all the videos of people cutting kindling. I don't start my saw up if a log isn't 8 inches in diameter. I'm lifting wood one time....to throw on truck.
I suppose those with small wood stoves need kindling to pack it for a long burning fire.
Can't agree because limb wood is more dense than the larger sections on a tree, has more heat energy for equivalent volume compared to larger diameter sections, and then there's the time savings of NOT having to split them after the cut, so it's deceptively efficient since it's one cut and into the fire stove! I've heard that anything around 3" and above is worth your time. And above a certain width, it is less efficient because it's harder to cut, handle the rounds and harder to split large diameter. I'd say the best diameter overall is around 14-18". That said, I process it all just for the sense of completion, cleanup and not wasting God's trees!
THATS LOW
👏👏👍👌🇳🇴😷
😀👊🍻
That left to right movement is no good. And to be honest you are going to get a cut leg if you keep starting your chainsaw like that.
I installed a locking pin, to keep it from swiveling. I always use it. My chainsaw has a compression release button, for easy starting. I appreciate the advice for staying safe.
Seems like too much added time & work to cut firewood. Why not just cut & throw into truck bed?
Круть///
wow what a waste of money guess that guy is on bigb bucks for selling that crap to the public be all day filling the back of the truck with that
Denis M let me guess you have a flowbee too, babs2408 is right this is a piece of junk and a waste of money. besides the fact that its a waste of time, money and effort, one simple rule when looking at gear for working in the woods is never buy anything from someone wearing a Columbia shirt, cause you cannot trust someone more interested in looking good then getting the job done safely and smarter. Chasing a log with a running chainsaw is stupid.
Denis M I agree with this product being overkill. In fact, I plan on doing a 1 year follow-up video showing how well I like it. It is simply amazing!Even though there may be an issue with a Columbia shirt from Gantzz431, I would like to point out the positives, such as the fact that I'm wearing Labonville Kevlar Chaps (which are top of the line), operating a professional series Husqvarna chainsaw, and wearing hearing/eye/head/hand protection.
gimmicks are sold every day and seems there are buyers that will buy anything, why re-invent the wheel, for cutting limbs like that they been making from scrap wood a thing called a buck horse, were you pile al the limbs or saw mill slabs in a pile on the home made buck horse and cut though many peace's at once,, but no, people have to run out and buy a $200 item and have to bend over to make one cut at a time, I burn them kind of brush pipes, I am a welder by trade and custom MFG ALL KINDS OF THINGS AND THIS IS SURE NOT ONE I WOULD CONCIDER OFFERING, COME ON PEOPLE YOU NEED TO THINK,,,
I just checked Baileys Online and they still sell these. I appreciate your comment. I'm going to make a buck horse video. I have many oak limbs to cut.
9:50 of you blathering about how to use a simple device that could have been done in 1:15 seconds. You're a waste of time. As others have said, this is a dangerous design.
I discovered from TONY’S COOL TOOLS channel the company has gone out of business. 🥲 Tim in northern TN
Thanks for letting us know. I just checked Baileys online and it's not longer available there either.
