I got into the Vita very late in 2020 when the prices really started to spike. For a long time this was kind of a holy grail game for me. I was finally able to get it at price I was comfortable paying and have been really enjoying it. It does have a bit more lulls than I would like, especially in the beginning but in the latter half of the game the story really picks up. I put it down for a bit after Super Mario Wonder came out but I'm gonna pick it back up and hopefully finish it before the end of the year. Great review!
This was my first "Tales of" game, and while it was enjoyable on the long run, I found the combat quite clunky, as the story and characters seemed silly. After some 50+ hours, I can say it's a must play for Vita owners, but there are still many other rpgs around.
The past that bugged me most about the lack of an English dub is that they changed the names of several major characters, including the protagonist, in the localization but didn't even have the original Japanese voice actors redub all of the "Shingu"s to "Kor."
6:40 Tales of Destiny the first Tales of game to get localized didn't have a dub and Radiant Mythology didn't bring back all the original English voice actors for most of the characters
Game is better than zesteria tales of hearts r decent game. People got to understand its a vita game . And for what it was it definitely was good. 30 hours is long for a psp vita title shiid alot of the new rpgs today barley give you 20 hours of decent content
I think tales of innocence is better. There’s a great fan translation on lifebottle. The story is kinda bad, but I actually like the characters and combat in that game much more.
Disagree I buy tales for the storyline. Are the stories as good as they once were hell nah. But also the battle system has been iffy with arise having the best evolution of the tales battle system.
@@gaming_with_chuck2299 so you would say The Tales games tell their stories well? arise has a good battle system or just the best in recent times? what you you say about the most common criticisms of having spongy enemies and becoming repetitive?
@goncaloferreira6429 good question , I would answer saying this about the spongy characters. Is that's what tales is known for similar to dragon quest with the slimes or their animation. Now I will agree arise combat was excellent storyline actually wasn't bad . Look at the last few tales games it was better than zesteria. They are getting better at the enemy designs but I will agree with you somethings we're repetitive. I would say arise lacked open world exploration which sucked
@@gaming_with_chuck2299 would you mind teling me your age? i am 38. we seem to see things very diferently but i guess it is a good thing for the continuation of Tales that even the games i dislike find an audiance.

I love these "retro" throw back reviews. Thank you!

This game was one of the reasons I bought my Vita.

With a story like this and fans that buy the games only for the combat the series will never reach its full potential.
