  • After two screenings in October 2019, and having uploaded it on filmfreeway, I decide to share this short film here which I made in 2015 about my mental health diagnosis: bipolar affective disorder. I hope this might help in a time of COVID-19 uncertainty. As a Time to Change champion, I have come to the decision it is best to talk about such experiences, to explain, share and hopefully people will understand or identify to a degree. I can say I have been stable for a while but it is a life long condition. Watch it, share it if you like. It is okay to not be okay, and pain is relative. A helpful reminder for me has been to stay balanced and own up to it, because it certainly does not own me.
The short film is an anecdotal reconstruction of the episodes which led to my personal diagnosis of bipolar affective disorder. Through the juxtaposition of depression and hyper-activity/mania, the audience is kept engaged. The use of the metaphors and masks of the fox allows the audience to identify with the character as this mental health account is personal yet the diagnoses of depression and/or bipolar are common and wide spread.
Any questions, let me know in the comments, and look after these beautiful brains of yours!
