I share the amazing true story of St. Patrick every year to my kids. It still brings me to tears and the message is truly unforgettable.
Suggestion: If your going to leave the window seat.. you should paint it white so it doesn’t look.. unfinished. You could attach some kind of decorative molding across the edge and some antique legs. I wish I lived closer, I would gladly help you sew some new cushions. Love the recipes. The kids thinking the fish was chicken is awesome😆
The new furniture layout in the living room looks great, much more open and spacious. My mother used to make me shamrock shaped sandwiches from cookie cutters for my school lunch around St Patrick's Day. I can see you doing that, too. ☘💚😉
I love decorating for St.Patrick's Day. One fun activity I did with my Elementary school students in the library: I would print out different leprechauns and I would hide them around the library. This worked for the younger kids.
I would then give each student a gold candy coin. For older students I made the hunt with riddles they had to figure out to find the correct picture I had taped around the room. Ex. This is the plant believed to bring good luck- 4 leaf 🍀 I numbered the pictures and they had to fill out the form with the riddle and number on picture. My students looked forward to this activity every year!

The living room is gorgeous and timeless. My first house was a 1928 bungalow, I loved staying true to that era and decorating to enhance the classic, historic feel. Topiaries make everything better!

Lauren I love the living room. It’s so open but still cozy. Your St Patrick’s decorations are adorable. I decorate for every occasion. I started doing this when my kids were small. Now they have kids of their own. My grandkid’s are 16 and 17 and they look forward to seeing my decorations. If I’m a little late with my monthly decorations they ask me why I haven’t switched. My mom is in a nursing home and I change her decorations every month so she doesn’t tire of looking at things. She looks forward to the change each.month. Your a such a good mother and I love how you are always doing things for them. Have a wonderful week and will be waiting for your next video.

Like the living room. More restful. As a kindergarten teacher and now a grandmother of 11 I sneak in green food coloring in bottom of clear pitcher. Standing back I have the kids say Abra Cadabra as I pour in white milk and it magically turns green
I think your livingroom looks so much better without so many chairs. I love that tablescape! I used to decorate for St Pat's when my kids and grandkids were little, but now I just decorate for spring in general, with touches for Valentines and Easter.

I think a good chunky cable knit throw pillow looks good with St Pat’s decor. Reminds me of Ireland and Irish wool and Celtic knots. I never would have thought of cabbage as St Pat’s decor, but it totally makes sense! And the leprechaun traps are adorable!

LIVING ROOM furniture is perfect - removing a couple chairs has enlarged the space (calming) and given more purpose to “just family” (or something like that - hard to describe). LOVE the green touches everywhere and leprechaun theme!! Dining table is TOO FUN , definitely sets the mood to find the pot o’ gold at the end of the rainbow! Thanks for your hard, dedicated work to make this happen seasonally - you’re truly the GOLDEN girl!!
I personally love it when you keep the smaller holidays simple, and let the rich style/ detailed decor of your home speak for itself. Just opens up the space more!

My children always built Leprechaun traps the night before. The next morning they awoke to find mischief had occurred all over the house, and the gold bait had been taken, bur no leprechauns were ever caught. Big black pots of gold wrapped candies always went to school with the kids to share with their classrooms. (I had teacher permission ahead of time). The scrapbook albums are full of great photos. The kids are all grown and gone now, and I miss this fun!
I don't usually do much for valentine's or St. Pat's but this year I've done NOTHING! I just wasn't feeling it and with all the toddler toys I constantly feel like there's so much anyway. I'm trying to get motivated for Easter because I do love it and ushering in Spring vibes. Plus my littles are suddenly really into it. But the Fall-Halloween-Thanksgiving-Christmas rush took it all out of me!

My Son in Law is from Dublin, Ireland. He has been in America for 18 years, since he married our daughter. I have done the brisket. But they love about 3 kinds of potatoes at a meal . I didn't know what else to make to go with it. So I just cooked carrots. I really didn't get into decorating much. They have brought back some things for me for our Christmas tree. I love your table scape! ☘️ I’ve never been one to decorate much for St Patrick’s Day but you really have made me wonder why! What you put together was both cut and fun but still elegant. That’s what I like.
When I was in 4th grade my teacher had the class design and build leprechaun traps. When we got to school all the traps had been set off and little gold coins were in the traps. It was so fun and magical. That was 22 years ago and I still very fondly remember that and plan on having my kids make leprechaun traps.

I love your home ANY way that YOU decide to decorate it! This is YOUR home and you've said time and time again, that you need the extra seating in your living room. Y'all don't sit on the bench, much, for many reasons, one being that you feel as if you are living in a fish bowl and your family lacks privacy from the street, another is that you and your husband use the extra chairs for playing dominoes, etc. Regardless, you do not owe anyone an explanation - this is YOUR home and your family LIVES in it. Don't apologize and don't change it because there are so many rude, tactless people who tell you they don't like it, "it's too cluttered", etc.
They either need to click off and go view someone else's cookie cutter channel or sit back and enjoy the content. I believe that many of them just come to leave passive aggressive comments anyway, and you don't need that. You are too sweet, smart, and beautiful - they are clearly jealous and want to throw that little doubt in there to niggle at you and any self-confidence you may possess.
Please don't change to suit strangers. Always remember your "why" - your beautiful gifts from God, your precious children, your loving husband - your family. Do they love the HOME you and your husband provide for them? Do they enjoy the decor, wonderful meals, and family time that you strive to give them? What you and they feel is most important. Doing it for you and your family is all that matters. You are just generous enough to share and inspire the rest of us.
Again, please don't change - don't become a carbon copy - you are special, truly. May God continue to bless you and your family and give you peace when you doubt.

You are amazing. Here’s why. 1. You literally would give Irish people a run for their money with these amazing decorations. Trust me I would know, 100% Irish through and through. 2. You make things very simple and easy to bring together. Everything is affordable and super simple, but collectively are amazing. 3. You are authentic AF.. I see them marks on your lush cream couch, and you didn’t try and edit that shit out, love this. This is normal behaviour. Your house is lived in and that shits totally normal. Not all channels like hours do are just so down to earth. Love your ideas. I’m gonna try and make a start with my collection. To be sure, to be sure.

Yes, I would use potatoes as well because of the Irish influences. I actually have potatoes as candles made of wax so that’s even easier. They were from Illuminations back in the dayyyyy...I loved that store.

I really like how the living room is set up. I like it with the chairs blocking the dining room and I like it open too. I think I like it open more. And with the couch there you can see the fireplace really well and the tv without too much turning as well. The previous owners of our house had the kitchen/nook and the living room separated with a large antique side table which looked really nice but we opened it up so it flowed and it felt so much bigger. I love that the mossy table runner is back, it's so cute and I love the new blanket with the clovers on them.
