It is through Doom that I discovered you, your vids, your streams, and I'm proud to call myself one of those regulars (albeit more often than not of the lurky kind). Yours was my first community in both the boomshoot and streaming landscapes to call home. It is not overstating when I say it is due to you that I am here now, with communities of my own, with Reload, streaming myself, all that stuff. And for that I am thankful. To you. And to Doom.

I am a father myself, so balancing family time, work, music/band, Doom modding and life is a hectic challenge on the daily.

I feel sorry for you grandpa, mine got dementia just after christmass '19, and in early 2020 he passed of pneumonia, i was just a kid in highschool back then, and the hole he left was such deep, only doom and his old tools helped me fight it. Find your peace in this world m8 and it'll be allright. Mods will wait for you, but your kife is important too.

I cannot overstress how much I appreciate content like this. This kind of emotional honesty is something we can all do with more of in our lives, and it's good to remember that we're all human, we're all fragile, and we all need to treat each other (and ourselves) with care when we can while we can!
Sorry for your loss. With three deaths this January (a relative, my adopted grandfather, and someone whose work I idolized), general stress because of work, and the second kid's coming in a few days, I am feeling overwhelmed and need to "reconfigure" my life a bit. Do take a rest if you need it, it's better than burning out. I doubt any one of us will abandon the channel if it slows a bit down.
Hey bud, been following you for years and I am a big fan of your content. I really feel for you, with your grandads condition and passing, as we are dealing with my fathers dementia. The word 'rough' does not even come near to describing what it is like, a whole world of confusion, heartbreak and uncertainty are just a few though. I shall be subscribing to your other channel after writing this, and look forward to new content when you are able to post. It's a shame my work schedule nowadays usually prohibits me from joining the livestreams but I've always enjoyed watching your Doom-related (and sometimes non-Doom as well) shenenigens live on stream. Hell, according to the Twitch sub I've been doing this for almost 6 years by now. Six whole years of watching some random British madlad play the most weird, funny and amusing Doom mods. That and getting myself hooked on a couple of them as well in the process.
I'm always eager to see you playing Doom. Though sometimes I wished you clearly explained the difference between Doom Wads, Doom Mods, Vanilla TCs and TTCs for newcomers. But! You're a legend for getting me in there in the first place! So, thank you very much!

My father died at the end of November so I empathize with what you've been going through. All the paperwork and associated stresses didn't give me a drinking problem, but I could see one coming. So now I'm thrown myself into my Warhammer pile of shame and that's working out well.

I discovered a ton of great Doom stuff through your channel. Ashes, Abysm, Godless Night, Doom Infinite... though sadly also Hideous Destructor. So yeah, Mod Madness has been a great experience for me, and I hope you'll keep it going.
I still remember the first video of yours I saw was the mod madness of Doom 4 Doom, and I remember enjoying it, but not enough to subscribe. It wasn't until I later got recommended your Guncaster v3 mod madness, which not only made me fall in love with that mod, but your channel. I've been aware of a few Doom mods for a time, but so many more great gems opened up as I went through your playlists. I also later really liked watching your streams, usually as VODs sadly as until now, my PC was quite shit and couldn't handle a stream for long. It's been a journey going through the good and the bad, and also just seeing you grow as a person through those VODs.
If its not obvious enough, I'm quite happy with who you've become and hope nothing but the best for you and your family. I'm eager to watch where this channel goes, and what new Doom mods (or even mods in general) come out that make appearances on it.

I also just want to thank you for the many, many hours of enjoyment you've given me. I certainly haven't tried every mod you've featured, but I've found _dozens_ that have delighted me - and even the ones that didn't catch my fancy, your discussion of them was still interesting and often quite relaxing. Heretical DooM and Guncaster are go-to favorites I discovered from you, SkullDash is a delight, the Golden Souls series is an amazing work of creativity and sadism... and spirits help me, I actually even quite enjoyed ProDoomer and only found it thanks to you (never beat it, but still enjoyed what I played). Oh yes, and Lithium as well - that mixes surprisingly well with a number of map packs.
Thank you again for the many hours of enjoyment your videos and recommendations have given me, and my best to you and yours. Here's to much more happy DooMing!
In my 33 years alive, I only started getting heavily into pc gaming in my mid 20's. I've always known DOOM, Heretic, HeXen, Duke 3D, BLOOD, etc., but I've only JUST started getting into modding these games. As of this very moment, I am using GZDOOM and modding the hell out of DOOM and DOOM II. I have 30 years of catching up to do with mods, and I just discovered your channel today. What better way to celebrate the 30th anniversary of one of the cornerstones of gaming than to find out you have a library of mod reviews that I get to discover for the very first time.

As someone who lost his father two years ago, on the first weeks of December, I can absolutely relate to your overall feeling towards Christmas. It'll never be the same to me.
On a more wholesome note, though, I'm in the obligation to address, as a forged Doom fan, how much I owe you to your own channel on my personal journey to rediscover all the magic and wonder this 30-years-old title (wow, time surely flies, doesn't it?) had to offer. I was stuck in the Brutal Doom tunnel for some years, but an accidental finding of your Aliens: Colonial Marines mod while I looked for some walkthroughs leaded me to your channel. And the rest, as many might say, is history. I might've dropped no comments or made my presence ever so prevalent over these years, but I tend to lean into the more passive kind of CZcams consumer side. I've watched and re-watched your Doom mod reviews over and over again, and yet I still manage to find something new, or to rekindle my passion for playing awesome Doom mods every now and then, thanks to the insane amount of quality and dedication put on your channel content.
Regardless of what the future might hold for you, or for any of us for that matter, you have the most sincere thanks from one regular Spanish nerd who adores videogames just a little too much.

Man, just wanna say I've been a HUGE fan of yours for awhile now. I actually found doom modding through your channel back when I was way younger, around 2015, so doom mods and your channel were both a huge part of my childhood. (Childhood? Early teens?) Because of this channel, I grew up playing doom mods, and I'm still a huge fan to this day. So thanks for that, and I'm genuinely pumped to see where your channel goes from here!

I’ve played doom since about 98-99 (when we got our first home computer) but I never really got into modding it always looked fun and I’d sometimes mess around a tiny bit but get bored when a mod doesn’t work or something. However, in a combo of Doom (2016)/eternal and making slightly more time and less money for new games. Your channel has become one of my favorite late to watching because I a pursue the mod sites all day and never find a good one. But you videos show some amazing stuff that’s out there that I have to play.
I do really enjoy all your content though I don’t always have time for the livestreams.
But please in some form continue mod madness. In bulk episodes or single small to big ones doesn’t matter to me. It’s the highlight when I see a new IcarusLives mod madness video pop up on my feed.
I know how hard having a close family member with dementia is. My mother is currently living with it. It’s rough, emotional, raw and heavy. I’m sorry for you loss.

While Doom 2016 was my first introduction to the series, your mod showcases is what further led me to seek out the classics. Ik I’ve gotten myself banned from your discord server over getting angry over some mouth breather, I’m at fault for it. There’s no hard feelings about it. I hope life goes well for you for the years to come by, and that you’ll still be sticking around the community as well to stream and play contemporary stuff that gets released year by year.

Second off, I have been an on and off viewer since 2018 and I thank you for the endless entertainment and work you have given me throughout these, well… interesting years. I am so sorry for your loss, but I applaud your being a dad and wish you and yours the absolute best. I’m disappointed I never interacted past watching, I would’ve loved to be one of the names you see to make you smile, but hopefully this message makes up for it. I have to say, I missed this one when it came out, but you are the reason I got back into doom, and learned how to set up mods. I had been watching for a while, I think reelism was the first one, but Brutal Doom the starter pack, was what got me to start playing mods again, years and years ago. I have spent hundreds of happy hours, after work, or coming home from a night out, listening to podcasts and conquering a new mod suggested by Mr. Icarus. Your Vids on Skulldash and Elementalism are two of my favourites, and both are my favourite mods. All the mods you talk about, from My House to Ghouls Forest 3 and Total Chaos, or Winters Fury, acts like a store window for all the possibilities of doom mods. You have done a fantastic job with this channel, and I am always exicted to see a new upload. Even as I'm writing this, I'm thinking of all the quailty content you've put out over the years, from the warm and pleasant joy of Russain Overkill, to the meta-horror of Lilith, to the frankly herculean effort and accoplishment of playing through so much of Pro Doomer. I will still go back and watch your videos as a comfort sometimes, like watching a favourite tv show, but the memory of my own journey through the mod you introduced me to like adventures of square, mingled with your fabulous narration, is a lovley experience.
I hope you keep doing this as long as you want, Mr Mod Madness. And thank you for all the videos you've already made!

I first got to know about D00M from the "Fight like Hell" 2016 ad and even tho I had no clue of what it was I still got a copy and loved the game. I later came to know that my dad used to play the original in his office at work and curious I began to look up gameplays, secrets, unused content and even got to finally play it. I had an amazing time but I knew that wasn't it as I had seen gameplay videos of "Doom mod madness" (which teached me what mod means lol). I was amazed back then in 2013 when I subscribed and am still moved by what you do even if I don't get as much time to watch your work as before. I am aware that the community of classic Doom games is alive and well, but I have never ever seen someone showcasing those same mods in the same way that you do and I will forever be grateful of your care for the channel even with all the rest you got around you. I really wish you continue to strive, stuff gets better and you take care of yourself. Thank you in the first place for making these and sorry for the very long comment. Stay safe :]
Personally I'd be more than happy with the idea that your future videos would cover multiple mods in one go, as a vanilla-compatible enjoyer I watch your vids mainly as a celebration of all the weird and wonderful things the Doom community has been working on rather than for an in-depth review of a specific mod, and I think covering several mods per video would be a great way to do that
Ive been watching you since 2016 (although quietly) I get happy everytime you upload and i quite love your music, especially Dont Look Back and From The Ashes. I remember finding your video on D4D almost 8 years ago now. back then I remember going on a binge through all of your DMM's that were released up to then. Its kinda hard to believe that I found you in middle school and have been watching you regularly into college now, but here we are.
I'm extremely grateful for your channel exposing me to the modding scene of the original doom wads. as Im sure you understand there's so many quality mods for those games that I think a lot of boomer shooter enthusiasts would enjoy, but are otherwise going under the radar of so many people. so in that regard, Im thankful for your channel exposing me to these mods, otherwise Im genuinely not sure if i'd have picked up doom 1 and 2 in the first place.
and lastly I can sympathize with the passing of your father. my grandpa passed a few years ago, and my grandma has been suffering from dementia, its not easy seeing either of them go like that. I can understand how tough it is to deal with it, and I can only imagine having to balance a family on top of that as well.
so, yeah, thank you for doing this as long as you have.

Hey Icarus I've watched you for a few years and got to say I've absolutely loved all your content I usually watch your nuts videos about once every couple weeks. I discovered your videos when my dad was first diagnosed with COPD and I was looking for a calm but positive voice to fall asleep too while falling asleep after working nightshift all the way until he passed last year. I stayed because it was always positive no matter what you were reviewing and I love that thank you so much for being one of my favorite CZcamsrs and don't burn yourself out thank you so much.
Watching all these videos, taking notes, pulling up Google and searching for that One Special DOOM MOD... (Gotta Play It!!!)... You have become a part of the Family. I love your content and I believe I never missed a single video (although I skip live streams by any content creator, they are not my cup of tea and I have no time for lengthy unscripted videos), but I think taking care of your family and your mental health should be a priority. I found out about Doom mods through your channel years ago. Even though I've only dabbled with a few, I still watch almost every review video you do. I also frequented Rock World about 25 years ago so I might have met you, but I'll never find out. Keep it up.
Your channel has helped brighten my days up from my early high school days when I discovered you, to my current 22 closing in on 23 year old self. Thank you for showing me the creativity the doom community and many other game devs have to offer, and making me look forward to each video. you're the one who introduced me, who was an eleven year old at the time (2018), to DOOM, through Doom Mod Madness. i am absolutely and utterly grateful to have bared witness to the birth and review of insane mods like russian overkill, trailblazer, Project Brutalit, to the horrendously perverted H-Doom. not to mention all the maps and iWADs that went from NUTS to MyHouse.wad. YOU sir: got me to sink over a four year period of playtime on DOOM, and like i said before: thank you.
Man, I found your channel years ago, and you've improved a lot during that time. If I was gonna leave, I would have already. Take all the time you need to refocus yourself. I spend too much time on livestreams already, so unfortunately I'm going to have to keep skipping those, but I'll be here for regular uploads, and I might check out the second channel.

Take your time and try to not feel pressured to make or do things: livestreams, videos or otherwise; I think I can speak on behalf of most reasonable people on that. I personally have been under a metric shite load of stress, problems and the like over the last few years, so if you need a moment or more, please take it. Your physical and psychological health are far, far more important.
Also that round-up idea isn’t bad. If it helps you any, or just something you want to try out, I’d say go for it. As you have always said, you don’t know until you’ve tried.

Perhaps a good way to reduce the load and streamline would be to release 3 thematically-related mods in 1, maybe as way of comparison or maybe just that they fit together, that'd certainly make worth-while watches, and I've seen a few of your more recent videos do similar just without the thematic ties. Whatever direction you take, it's always great to see the material you put out into the world!
The sheer amount of things done with DOOM - the DOOM games, the mods, the games made on the engine, everything - is absolutely staggering, and only growing.
And that includes your career, which I'm also quite thankful for! It's always a joy seeing your stuff, your reviews of mods and things DOOM and BOOM in general.
