As a programmer, I like that he's basically a 100% "open source" musician. Whatever he accomplishes, he tries to explain how he got there to the tiniest detail, because the journey is just as fascinating as the result. To the point where he'll make multi-hour streams of him producing music. Whatever he "discovers", he wants everyone else to be able to do it too.
As a fellow programmer, this description was perfect for my brain, and now I will be looking for his livestreams :)

@@l3gendbaap963 Well he's been influenced and inspired by greats that can do what he does, but in their own way. Not saying what you said isn't a factor. But I think it's less that he's sure nobody can recreate his style (because he even does community musician challenges, which is interesting), but more that he does so much that he likes to share; music is his life's passion, and a passion mastered in the soul like this is always begging to be shared !
That the number one thing I love about him
To see 2 musical legends chill on the couch and get all giggly by what a kid is doing is so unreal hahaha. But then to see Jacob be cool with it all, not let it get to his head and just keep doing whatever feels right... this guy is on a mission to enlighten us musically
Yes, Jacob is on a mission and he is a gift to humanity. He is smashing people right in their soul and you don't see him coming and boom! You are in love and so alive you realize you had forgoten what it meant to really exist and to Be. Forever grateful to JC.

So happy to find such a well made documentary about Jacob Collier, and hear from him, his family and his friends. Suzie Collier is an amazing person, and a wonderful mother, who recognized her child's talent and nurtured it without imposing on it. Her light shines brightly in her son. Suggesting to Quincy Jones that they just be friends before entering into a professional relationship showed a striking awareness of his own inexperience, without feeling inadequate or daunted. It's like he is the sorcerer to his own apprentice. He knows where he wants to go, and what to do to get there. For a kid who has been told he is a genius by so many people of renown, it's amazing that he's so grounded and unaffected. He has heard a whole new world of music, and he wants his audience to come with him, and hear it for themselves. There is a purity and innocence to him, that I hope will endure fame, for it can be a terrible contaminant. He embodies a spirit of generosity and delight, and he must always keep that room where he goes to nourish and refresh himself.

I feel similar in that regard, @isaaccardin2523. In fact, the first time I saw him in a similar production, I fell apart understanding that this is what I lacked and have been missing forever. True, authentic heart nourishment as a gift handed down and imbued.
What I really love about Jacob Collier is his innocence. I hope he always protects his innocence.
1:06:06 I love how you can tell that this is Jacob's first version of "WELLLL". considering this was made a year ago, and that Well was released relatively recently, it goes to show how much he cares about his work. Jacob is my biggest inspiration in music and will most likely always be.

Thanks so much for this documentary. I am a 71 year old music lover , and do not know the basics of music and the notes. This documentary made me cry and deeply moved. We are all very fortunate to be living to hear musical geniuses like Jacob Collier. Every country in various continents have musical geniuses and we are blessed to hear and enjoy their creations. I just now realised that jacob was mixing his first album called "in my room" in the studio of hans zimmer, "zimmer" as a german word meaning "room".
Jacob is a once in a century phenomenon. I had the pleasure to see him live and was just blown away!
His show was the purest expression of music i’ve ever experienced. I’d guess half the audience was musicians. And the way he brings the audience into the music is extraordinary. It’s beautiful.
Same, I saw him in Bristol and it was like nothing I've ever heard. He is a generational talent for sure.
i cannot believe i had never heard of this guy until today, but that's what happens when you don't have cable or listen to radio i suppose. hours later i can't stop watching interviews by him. he's already given me the breakthrough i had been missing in music theory for my own music...ty
A musician touched by the hands of the creator of the Universe. The UK has some incredible, unique talent at the moment. With Jacob and Ren for a start it puts the UK among the global musical leaders. You know how incredible his mother is when Jacob wants her playing with him on the film score and the proms. I know enormous success brings equally enormous wealth but i hope its a long time before he stops climbing through the back window of the family home in London!

I saw Jacob live last night for the first time. I'm still trying to process what I experienced. If you havent already been to a Jacob Collier show, just do it. His talent is almost supernatural. He really is without peer in music. In 35 years of watching live music of all kinds, I haven't seen anyone even come close to what he treated us to last night. I've heard quite a few people mention Mozart, Bach and Beethoven in respect of Jacob's talent. I'm quite sure each one of them would have stood in awe and applauded his unique abilities.

@@JohnnyF71 I said at the time that I wasn't even convinced he's human!! 🤣🤣 I felt like I was in the presence of a being of higher consciousness. Even the fact that he took the time to thank, so authentically, his entire crew. I've never seen any other artist do that in the way he did. We were lucky enough to be right at the front too so I had eye contact a few times and felt like I was looking into the eyes of a very special being! ❤️ Until you've experienced it you can't quite explain it can you? That was definitely my first of many though! 😍
I feel people will be able to go and visit this house and Jacobs room for centuries after they are gone. Like the La Sagrada Familia.
He is brilliant, amazing singer and instrumentalist, incredible ear and intuition, modest and just so into it all. Very glad to have seen and heard this!

Never heard of Jacob before - just stumbled on this video out of nowhere, and wow, I could not stop watching! Awesome!
The combined genes of several generations all ended up in Jacob, and the result is simply amazing. His sense of wonder and musical adventure is joyous.

Since those days of the first viral arrangements he made long time ago, I remember being in music school and showing his videos to everyone. The general reaction was "it's a little bit too much for me", or "that can't be real" but since that first moment I knew people had that exact same reaction in history when geniuses like Mozart or Bach were contemporary. I was filled with joy and expectation knowing him was just 18 yo or so, and what kind of masterpieces were upcoming from his creative mind. Sure enough he hasn't let down and I am certain about his songs and arrangements being studied and analyzed in music schools around the world for the next generations of trained musicians.
It never ceases to amaze me how incredible Jacob and his music is

I am blown away by Jacob and his talents. Here I am struggling to accomplish one simple task, lol, and Jacob has mastered so many instruments and styles with such ease and fluidity. He is a true inspiration for me. I am a fan of his for life and can't wait to see what he does next. I haven't even started recording yet. I am still in the learning phase and have a long way to go.

What an amazing video, what a wonderful soul! Jacob Collier, creativity to the Nth degree! And, I'd never heard of him until CZcams recommended this video today. I'll watch a few minutes of it and see, I thought. No, I couldn't tear myself away. Now I can buy all his albums and immerse myself in this musical universe! Everyone, some say, lives in their own cultural bubble. That may be true, but I feel like mine just exploded! Thank you Jacob for being you, and thanks to everyone involved in creating this documentary.
