    I am going to assume that a lack of a way to fasten it down is a safety feature. If you get a bad catch the lathe will move rather than everything coming at you, or at least some of the force will go the other direction! I think I could have made a one direction joke there! That had to come from the backwoods of China using flatheads still, must not have got the memo!

      Two things.... I later found there are threaded holes for securing through a table. The flatheads! LOL the thing comes with allen wrenches, but there are no allen screws!

    Mine has M12 threaded holes on the bottom to lock it on the table. are you sure there is nothing underneath?

      I did find the mounting threads. But its dead now. Check out project 40

    I was told you could not really turn soft woods

      You can.... but it's not ideal. Specifically pine from Home Depot, Lowes or wherever will be super wet. If you can find an old pine 4x4x? and its dry, you can turn it. I think you can turn balsa wood if you really tried. LOL Hardwoods are best. Although I would argue super hardwoods are more difficult to turn.
