Really interesting seeing differences in gear philosophy! I’m an ultralight hiker who just happens to love your videos. My usual 4 day hiking bag weighs in at maybe 15 pounds with water and food. Couldn’t imagine 30 let alone 90, you’re an animal!! Love the content.

I like it man! No messing around when it comes to go time, last thing u want is to be missing or needing something when u are in the elk woods!
Extra socks are a must. On my first deployment, my family asked in a letter “want us to send you a package with candy and food” said “no, send a box of brown or black boot socks” haha. Everyone, including myself, was extremely happy to get socks.

2 stupid/moot points/questions(?)
1- what altitude are you at? I was thinking "don't eat that sandwich! The bag is puffy!" Which is usually an indication of food born ailments. Then I realized "he's probably at altitude, which would explain the blown up bag
2- they make these fliss holder sticks. They're "y" shaped and you just wrap a short piece of floss around a couple pegs on the sticks. Awesome floss saver, plastic saver, space-in-your-bag saver
Elevation was between 6-7,000 ft -Dan

Normally a couple pair, but we were in an area that gets hammered with precipitation, and the extended forecast was calling for lots of rain so I figured why not have dry socks and underwear stacked. Also, I am not a fan of backcountry elk hunting without horses or stock. As you probably know, I like being mobile and overcommitting to one area doesn't bode well with my style. -DS
