THAT MEANS A LOT (THE BEATLES) - "Abandoned" Song Cover + Guitar Chord Tabs [4K]

- Here's my arrangement of The Beatles' abandoned song "That Means A Lot" if it came out as an album track in 1965!
TAB: nickmartellaro.com/tabs/The%2...
I did this pretty similar to The Beatles' arrangement. The Anthology has a version of this, but a lot of people aren't aware the Beatles did over 20 takes of this track before giving up. None of them are perfect, but some takes feature cool little riffs and ideas that make them unique. Some of the takes are even in a different key entirely. I used ideas from all of these to create my arrangement.
I also used a Hohner "Pianet" (not really, but a virtual one through my Kawai keyboard as a MIDI controller). This is the keyboard The Beatles would've used in 1965, and I figured the muted sound of the keys would fit perfectly with this track.
The vocals are all single tracked, except for the bridge (which is doubled). If I were to do this as a single, I'd double track everything...but I don't think The Beatles ever got that far!
Lastly, thanks to Andrew Lubman for helping me confirm the harmonies. They're very unique and do not follow typical patterns (i.e. they sort of cross over each other and are sometimes discordant, similar "Yes It Is"). In addition, thanks to Maxim Muir for encouraging me to do this song for literally years!
On a technical note, this was hard to sync so many videos at once - so my apologies if there are any issues with the upload.

Outstanding cover. As for the song itself, the best part is that "can't you see" passage, and McCartney knew it, making it into the outro as well.
Wow, awesome "Beatle" touches at the end!
You put your heart and soul into your music and it shows. Great job Nick
My wife says it sounds like The Wonders. That's high praise !
🙂
Don't you mean The One-ders??😄
@@ARWest-bp4yb Hey, that's the O-NED-ers! (Thanks guys!)
This made me laugh
I though it was The Heardsmen
It's one of the Beatles b-sides, that could have been great beats. Great job.
Great job singing this!
Excellent, talented man. Shame McCartney and Co didn't persevere with this track. Well done.
Superb cover. I always thought that it could have been a great song for the Walker Brothers or Peter and Gordon. Great job and a pleasure to see and listen.
So proud of Nick. He is close to fully covering all The Beatles for Others compositions. I'd have to do a checklist, but he is darn close.I suggested he use version 2 (or as EMI calls it, the March remake) as a basis for a cover, but freely use elements from version one that work, and he did a splendid job here! The P.J. Probs version should be bulk erased and burned, THIS is the cover the song deserves.
A nice cover, not imitating Paul but singing the song as he wrote it.
Nice, Nick. Only you!
Great cover Nick! 👍👍It's too bad they never released it back in the day.
amazing, greetings from méxico city
I love this, Nick!
Another great cover by Nick!
Sounds great!! Love the bass... and the tambourine in the middle 8... and the harmonies at 0:17.
Love this! Should have been finished and put on Rubber Soul! You sang it great!
Maybe as a bonus track on the 2024 Rubber Soul Remaster?
Brilliant choice for cover. Awesome! 👏🏼 😎
Amazing man!!!
Very nice, Nick!
Excellent as always Nick
You rock
Nice! Here is an exclusivity : I'm preparing a MOGG / Isolated tracks / Stereo mixdown from my project of this track.
