    They need to change it that if the Supervisor is called, the Supervisor watches the footage in question from multiple angles, before coming out to the court and making a ruling.
    All the Supervisor does now is come out to take the Chair Umpire’s side.

    • @jarrettpeeples9745
      @jarrettpeeples9745 Před 10 měsíci +3

      The supervisor doesn't take the chair umpire's side. Players just keep calling them out for situations that they have no business being called out for. The supervisor can't overrule the chair umpire on a judgment call, but players act like spoiled brats and refuse to play until they cone out whenever the player disagrees with a judgment call anyways.
      This is the exact reason why you see several chair umpires in this video flat-out deny the player's request to call out the supervisor, even telling them that it's not a call that concerns the supervisor.
      Vickery is the only player that called the supervisor in the correct situation here, but then she undermined herself by making her case totally about the umpire's judgment call about whether the call affected her shot.

      He didn't do anything wrong there. To Vickery's credit, this one the only time that I have ever seen a player on this channel call for the supervisor in the correct situation because she originally questioned that the chair umpire had misapplied the rules. However, when the supervisor got out there, Vickery lied about her shot going back in play and then made her entire case about the judgment call on whether the call had affected her shot. The ultinate authority on judgment calls like that are given to the chair umpire. The supervisor cannot overrule them.
      The supervisor let her know the rule, told her that the call did not affect her shot in the umpire's judgment, and that the point belonged to her opponent. Nothing that Vickery said about the call affecting her shot after that would have made in difference in the call. The supervisor left, and the match needed to continue.

    I felt bad for Vickery. She was robbed by an umpire who doesn't know the rules, and an incompetent old man who wanted to go back to his afternoon nap

  • @BobCakez
    @BobCakez Před 10 měsíci +3

    Vickery was right, the call came before she hit it, but her initial argument (if she hits the ball it should be replayed) was also wrong.
    It's probably not helped by the fact the umpire and the referee don't speak fluent English and didn't fully understand each other.

    The Vickery situation is not science. If the call afectes her shot is a reply. If it didn’t, then it’s not.
    She was using the wrong argument.
    She needed to say the umpires call hindered her shot. That was enough for a reply.

    Impressive. You managed to find one of the few Ostapenko complaints with merit. The line call did not affect the return so she should indeed have been given the point. On the Vickery case, if the situation had been as the umpire describes then she would be correct but the call clearly came before the shot and in this case a replay is mandated. And as far as Cornet goes, one can only assume that umpire does not like her personally or something. Difficult to find any other reasonable grounds for an overrule there.

    Hey Tennis Advocate, just fyi for your next video you need to research and show the controversy between Sakkari and Collins at the National Bank Open, where Collins told Maria to "shut your mouth" after Maria hit a ball out towards the stands after missing a serve. Looking forward to it and the others!

    That very first scene, the point should be replayed as the chair umpire over ruled the line judge and this was a hindrance. The point should be replayed. Even if Vickery's ball didn't go over....
    Also, the drop shot was clearly out.

    Umpire and Ref made a complete f-ing mess of the Vickery call. The incorrect out call came before her play on the ball. That's hindrance and therefore a replay. The timing of the subsequent correction is irrelevant to her right to replay the point.

      The chair umpire said that the call didn't affect Vickery's shot, which is clearly a bad decision, but it's a judgement call. Supervisors aren't allowed, by rule, to overrule judgement calls. This situation is entirely the chair umpire's fault, not the supervisor's.

  • @MarkWardReacts
    @MarkWardReacts Před 10 měsíci

    Honestly what is the point in the referees? They never DO ANYTHING when they are called out. Clearly Vickery was in the right there and a quick video replay would have shown that. But just bumbling onto court and listening to the frankly incomprehensible explanation from the umpire is not enough.

    You cannot beat bad umpiring. Cornet found this out unfortunately at the Rothesay Open. Porky Pig should not be allowed to officiate another match until he gets his eyesight fixed and passes a remedial course in umpiring.
