The pigeon and the European Starling are under the care of Avian Underdogs Rescue Association: www.AvianUnderdogs.org
Running across the freeway is extremely dangerous (and should NEVER be done!). I was able to do it safely only because Dr. Antonio Pedraza was able to see down the offramp and let me know exactly when it was safe to make a run for it. Of course, the lighter traffic these days due to the virus helped.

That iguana scared me so bad and then it was a toy and I was like omg!
You know, what matters is that you thought it was real, and you were willing to take the risk to try to save it.

Black shuck I think this must’ve been recorded a few weeks ago when the outbreak wasn’t as serious. They are saving lives tho so they’re job might be considered prioritised instead of staying off work or working from home
Veganmilk, as a wildlife rehabilitator I've also had to face issues of how to stay safe, now with something new in the mix. I realized that I also do something essential: these animals are still suffering, and citizens are still rescuing them. I couldn't just "turn off the faucet." The accommodations I decided on, were to meet people on my porch and no longer invite them in. I feel embarassed and ungracious, but I don't want to get sick or I can't continue to be of service, and don't want to make anyone else sick either. Amazing how many people don't know what 6 feet looks like. The first rule for rescuers is to take care of yourself, yiurmhealth and safety, or your expertise will be useless to anyone else. You're not supposed to be a martyr. Yes, even doctors get stuck by a needle at some point, but professionals are as careful as possible, and dedicated. I'm not used to the new conditions yet, still scared, but I'm learning.

Eldad please invest in some flares or a road sign to use when doing rescues on the Freeway. There has got to be a way to warn driver to at least slow down when you are rescuing an animal. It would just be so horrible for everyone if you got hit one day.

As the owner of a pet European Starling that I rescued at about 9 days old from a hot parking lot, thank you for saving that bird. So many people just want to see them dead because theyre an invasive species and lots of vets will refuse to treat them because of it. Theyre beautiful, intelligent birds who deserve to be treated like any other animal.
@Griffith Williams I think bird species around the world are in decline. Between pollution, loss of habitat, and the millions killed by domestic cats and from flying into windows, it won't be long before there are few, if any birds, left. I live in North-West Canada and I've had a bird feeder for about 20 years. There are so many species of birds I no longer see at my feeder and fewer of the ones that still come.
Sadly humans often take the label "invasive species" as permission to be cruel to these animals. In New Zealand it is a particular issue. We have had Primary schools children encouraged to participate in drowning baby possums by the school or other people swerve on the road to deliberate hit an animal classified as an "invasive species".

The Americans never cease to amaze me with the compassion they have for little creatures and and big ones too! I'm a South African and people don't give a damn about Pigeons. They simply die on the streets! When I attend clinic days I take along all the bread in the house and I buy bags of peanuts and feed them. I live close to a bird sanctuary and feed wild birds too. Thank you for caring for the Iguana too. LOL
This video was a emotional rollercoaster 😭 I was happy the bird was safe, my heart dropped when the iguana was dead and about to cry but then relieved to see that it was a toy mixed with slight anger because you risked your life but excited that the toy will be given away. Awww the pigeon reminded me of a baby pigeon I rescued, he didn’t even had feathers I rescued him after I saw a cruel kid kill his mom and siblings. I took him home and he grew up to be such a handsome bird who loved flying around the house and neighborhood. I had him for 6 years until a bad person threw a rock at him and hit him in the head sadly nothing I could do, I cried for days and till this day it hurts to not have him around with my other birds 🥺 rip my sweet, handsome Pambele

If that happens again, record them on camera and prosecute because they will do it again

why do people do these thing like i always get mad and like i have tons of animals and 1 which is a cat loves to be outside but im to overprotective and i dont let him but a sibling always lets him out so im always night/morning searching for him
Edit:he was also suppose to be indoor but he is not idk if hes indoor or outdoor cat he leave the house in day but at night he just comes to sleep with me

Starlings are beautiful. Now that most people are sitting at home, in the morning I see these birds in such numbers as never before. And they are so brave.

Not applying for your Iguana, but have a similar story. I used to be a police officer here in Michigan and was dispatched to senior citizens condo complex on a report of a woman afraid to leave her building because a lizard was on her porch. I arrived and found a plastic dinosaur in front of her door. Poor lady, but very common. Elderly people are often scared of things that young people are not.

Dear Dan: I realize that you're a former cop, and cops tend to interface with people in crisis. But please, don't call my demographic "elderly." It implies we're all weak, helpless, frail or senile. Most of us are cognitively intact, and not stereotypically frail. We're a major voting bloc, we still work and pay taxes, we're consumers who support the economy. I'd ask that you consider using the terms "mature adult" or "seniors" or "senior citizens." That implies we're still intact, still active and engaged. I am myself a mature adult. I'm also a wildlife rehabilitator, as are my colleagues. We are professionals who take care of creatures that you wouldn't want to be in the same room with. We go out and catch them just like Eldad. It's a negative stereotype, when seniors get called "elderly." Most of us don't need skilled nursing facilities, and aren't cognitively declining. That's mostly what a cop would come into contact with, I understand that. Lots of middle aged and younger adults would've been just as fooled by a plastic dinosaur in front of their door. You probably had a moment of doubt when you saw that dinosaur, too... and both Eldad and Dr. Pedraza got gaslighted by the iguana too, and neither of them is an old fahrt. It's moments like that, that lighten our jobs and give us the opportunity to release tension laugh at ourselves. Thanks for listening, for having been a cop, and please follow Dr. Fauci's recommendations and stay safe. :)))

She was totally insensitive to its pain, both birds were held unnecessarily roughly, there are better ways to get a bird out a box
kipper Correct me if I’m wrong but I think she was just trying to examine both birds to make sure there wasn’t anything wrong with them. For the European Starling, it was more difficult since the bird was moving around a lot. Yes, she could’ve been more gentle, but I don’t think she wasn’t trying to be rough with them and cause more pain.
@@toobasic3700 believe me, she was rough and did more damage than good. Break your arm and have internal injuries, have someone do that to you and see how it feels. It was crying and flapping to communicate that she was causing it excruciating pain. But she is desensitised to it,meaning she needs to be retrained or take a break. An injured bird should be totally quiet so as not to attract the attention of more predators like crows which would rip it apart, I have seen a starling in a dogs mouth make less noise. The way she got it out of the box was appalling. You reduce the area of the box by using a piece of cardboard and get the bird from above. I have handled birds with broken wings, as a novice, far better than that so-called professional. I don't know where they get their licence from in America but they should be reported.

Is there a hope for paws in England because I see pigeons and birds all the time being injured and ending up walking and killing themselves to end the pain. We need people like u everywhere
I would love that. Recently our neighbour passed away and no provisions were made for her cat. We ended up calling the RSPCA who basically said "unless she's dying we won't help her". Cats protection were going to come collect her (neighbours had been collectively feeding her for a month) but someone eventually got in touch with her son who has rehomed her. I hope she's doing alright 😥
And then this morning I got home from work and this adorable white cat crossed my path and I'd never seen it in the neighbourhood before. Its eyes looked so sad Its coat looked so dirty and it wouldn't let me get close to it but it waited for me while I got it a little pot of water (we don't have any suitable food lying around sadly). I hope it's doing OK because I really needed sleep at that point and had to leave it be 😭

it was a very lucky /unlucky throw to make it land in such a way that it looked like a real iguana actually sat in the sun. That then caused someone to risk their lives in fast moving traffic to risk approaching it to rescue it

My mom would love to give Ana the iguana a home. She already has a plastic lizard that looks real. Fist time I saw it, I jumped and screamed like the girl I am. Their neighbor got really scared by Lizzy, he couldn't believe it wasn't real. Lizzy has scared so many people 😆😆
My mom rescued Lizzy as well. She was abandoned at a rental house my parents have. Now she has a permanent home.😉
So. I told my husband I applied to adopt Ana. He looked at me and said, “ What?? We don’t need more pets!” (We have almost 20...) I told him to watch this video, and he will understand how I fell in love with Ana... NOW, he’s not speaking to me, except to tell me he’s not speaking to me. 🤣😂🤣

@@colormaker5070 The way its legs were spread out, it would be a 50/50 chance that it would land on its back or front (it can't land on its side). It's far from impossible.
