Dude you’d make a great salesman, I’m absolutely sold on the R50 now 😂
Thanks but don't buy it because of me. Buy it if it sounds like a good fit for you and your needs.
Hahaha me too
Lol. I were thinking about getting that as my back up camera lol
Me too😭😭😭 great job sir
I'm only 30 seconds in and, me too lol
Mine should arrive today. Your content is really good, and your presentation is very welcoming. Nothing too loud, flashy, nor self flagellating. Subscribed.
As a camera newbie, thank you for explaining this in an easy to understand way!!
Your are welcome. I'm glad it was helpful
Best quick review, all I needed to know in 5 mins! Thanks plenty 🙏🏻
Glad it was helpful!
I love the way you're so straight forward with explaining things. Great video.
Thanks!
Best review I have seen yet. Great and quick information. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks Fulaan, your videos are a treat!
My pleasure!
SO MANY questions answered thank you 🙏🏽
You are most welcome. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Great video! I just upgraded from the M50 to the R50. The thing that I love is how it works with the Canon connectivity app so I can start and stop the recording on my phone. My M50 was miserable to connect and would disconnect after 2 minutes. Also, it just works as a webcam without the canon software for the M50 that never really worked anyway. The amount of money I spent on HDMI and USB cables and eventually the Elgato capture thingy was ridiculous - and it still only worked some of the time. So far, the R50 actually does ALL the stuff the M50 was supposed to be able to do. Love it.
That it is a very accurate statement. "The R50 actually does ALL the stuff the M50 was supposed to be able to do." Thanks for watching and commenting.
Thank you for this explanation!
You are very welcome. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Your simply amazing I can’t wait to get the R50 just cause of the way you described it.
Thanks! I appreciate that.
Amazing video! Thank you so much
Glad it helped!
Great video, I love the fact that you go straight to the point in your videos, I'm a beginner thinking to upgrade when I have the money year from now, to a canon R5 from a 90D, would like to hear you talk about 90D a video with a few tips ON DE 90D will appreciate it.
Hello, all the videos I made about the m50 would directly apply to the 90d as the operation is pretty similar.
@@FulaanCreative i appreciated your answer.
I just purchased it. Thanks for your help!
Glad I could help!
As always, well done. Canon better run this on their channel.
Thanks! That would be pretty awesome if they did!
@@Freethecommons Did you read the title? Keep it movin'
I'm so glad I found your channel! I'm on my 10th video already...you have a great style. Thanks!
Thanks! I'm glad the vids are helpful.
Thanks very much for the review bro I was thinking whether it's a good choice or not but now I got the confidence to buy it
Glad I could help
Bro...your channel is easily in the top 3 best channels for new shooters and my personal favorite. I'll be digging in and binge watching your videos over the next few weeks 🍻
Thanks man! I appreciate that.
Question...as a one man camera crew, I'm considering buying two of these for stationary vlogging/content production on tripods. Would they be good for that purpose? I'd be using them "in studio" as well as outdoors.
They would be great for that purpose except in one scenario. That is if you need to have takes longer than 1 hour. Like interviews, podcasts and that kind of thing. If that it is the case then the Sony ZV-E10 is a better choice as there is no 1 our record limit. That's just my 2 cents so you gotta weigh everything out for yourself though.
great video, thank you!
Glad you liked it!
I have a 6d. I was looking for something not super expensive yet could upgrade my creative content. Thank you for this video. I'm sold just off your video
You are very welcome.
Thank you Fulaan, a wealth of information... as usual! ;-)

Thank you for your kind information. From NEPAL
So nice of you
10-bit intro color cam… okay. I’m definitely interested. The lenses do worry me. The adapters in the past made me take a hit with autofocus, but I loved the extra stop it provided. 🤔 Thx for this awesome content!!🫡🫵🏽

Thank you sir
Man I want this camera so bad. Nice video.
Thanks.
You've made the R50 look tastier. I like the skin tones I've gotten out of Canon cameras, so picking up a Canon is definitely on my radar. I'm trying to hold out for a higher end camera like the C70 - or S5ii as a more budget friendly choice. But, I would like a second camera for my CZcams videos. It's a tough choice these days. Plus, given that Sony is about to drop three new cameras, you can never jump too fast on getting new cameras.
For sure, so many good cameras out there now days. Honestly at this point it's more of a preference issue because you really can't go wrong with any of the various systems.
I haven’t been keeping up, what are the new Sony cameras?
@@ThroughMyLins There are the a6700 and the A7Cii that are scheduled to be released in 2023.
@@AllThingsFilm1 ok thanks you!
This is the best video I’ve seen of yours and I love your stuff! Btw do you know if the r10 can do HD120 FPS? I can seem to see anything more than 60gps in 1080p
Thanks! Yes it has 1080 up to 120 fps. I think you have to turn on the High frame rate option from the main menu first.
@@FulaanCreative ahh thats right but then you lose audio don’t you? Guess it’s still a good option for B-Roll if you overlay it with music
@@davidmaxfieldgolf Yes but audio in slow motion doesn't sound good anyway. Some simple sound design does the trick.
@@FulaanCreative so true, thanks mate :) Love the channel
great video. If I'm only interested in photography, which do you recommend, the R50 or the T8i?
R50
just bought the r50 because of this video and i love it! i’m after a stabiliser for those smooth motion shots but don’t want to spend a fortune, what would you recommend?
You can get a $60 glide-cam style stabilizer. They are not as easy to balance as gimbals but once you get them balanced it looks great.
Can you make a test of auto focus with 2 EF lenses, and I have a question do I fully use the ef lenses light or some of it goes beyond the sensor edges?
I discovered your channel after looking up Canon R10 something-something, loved your content, style, and advice. As a n00b to decent cameras and videos (Canon 90D and R10, respectively) I am excited about documenting my wife and I's journey through life. I only use "free" software atm (Photos and iMovie), need to pick up someone's adaptor for my library of 3 lenses, and upgrade my Amazon $13 tripod, and so much more. But at this moment I feel like my biggest challenge to getting started is not understanding a well thought through photography workflow. Meaning: where to save pics and vids, how to manage assets that include static images and video snippets, how to manage exported video files, a sensible Photos strategy, and so much more. I write a lot of software for a living and we love our software engineering best practices. Do you have any advice or recommendations along these lines?
Thanks for the kind words! I think a lot of this will depend on the workflow of the software you use. I would recommend you downlaod davinci resolve for video. It may seem daunting at first glance but it's actually pretty easy to learn. It's free and extremely powerful. For photos the free options are not that good unfortunately and at the moment the best software is adobe lightroom. Once you settle for which software you will use I would recommend adopting the file management and best practices of that software. I'm not the most organized person and this is an area could definitely improve in so I wouldn't be able to offer much more pointers than that but I hope that helps.
@@FulaanCreative Muchas gracias amigo!

I just got the R50 and the Nisi 9mm f/2.8 RF lens. Absolutely amazing combo for shooting real estate! A huge upgrade from the Canon M50 and Laowa 9mm f/2.8 ef-m lens.
I like the full auto mode on the R50 as it looks amazing on the viewfinder and from photos I've seen. But I have the Nisi 9mm f/2.8 manual focus lens. I can't take a picture in full auto mode for some reason. Are there settings to allow this?
Also wondering if you can do a comparison between 3 hdr bracketed vs full auto mode assist photos? I'm imagining closer results than expected. Blended hdr photos are tough to beat but this will make for an interesting test.
Try changing the setting where it says release shutter without card & thanks for the video suggestion : )
Thank you for your video!! I wanted to know, which would you recommend more, the Canon EOS R50 o the R10?
Thank you!!
Your Welcome. R50 is slightly more compact. R10 has a few extra photo capabilities and the ability to record longer than 1 hour in one go. If the difference in price isn't a big consideration I'd go with the R10.
I'm considering pulling that trigger and jumping up my camera game from GH5 to either the Sony FX6 or the Panasonic EVA-1. Could you drop a video on the EVA-1? Is it a comparable camera and would it be worth the investment for high quality filmmaking.
I don't know too much about the EVA-1 but know that it doesn't have comparable AF to many other cinema cameras. If AF is not an issue there are a whole bunch of amazing cinema cameras to consider and the EVA-1 is most probably one of them.
Awesome channel...would you buy the R10 or the R50 if you were moving from a T2i?
If the difference in price isn't that big of a deal then the R10 is a better choice.
Thank you for making this vid (and others), it helped me decide on buying the R50. I'm a newb to photography and use it for my two businesses and out door photography. What telephoto and macro lenses would you recommend for the R50 if I buy the adaptor? I'd like to take pics of roofs from roughly 50-80 ft away at times and I take up close pics of my animals so sharp pics are needed to post them to my websites. Any suggestions are appreciated!
You are very welcome. I like the budget EF-s 55-250mm from Canon. For macro I'm not sure as I never shot macro
Nice I love your videos, how is weight after adding the adaptor + lens will this be too heavy for vlogging
The weight is quite low in my opinion. For vlogging I would grab an adapter and use the EF-s 10-18mm lens. It's super wide and very light weight.
@@FulaanCreative Do you think this will be a good update from the t7i
Enjoyable review. Smart camera from Canon. Canon seems to be catching on to how much people love AI. I have - a enjoy using - the R6, but the R50 seems like lots of fun.
Thanks! Yep, I agree. Computational photography and video are the next frontiers.
Great video dude
Would recommend this over a LUMIX G100?
Thanks! I would due to the superior AF
@@FulaanCreative thanks bro!
Pls do a setting up your video setting on this camera!!!!
Thanks for the suggestion. Will try to make it.
What you suggest somebody who wanna do music videos , weddings, basketball games but still have fire photo. I wanna be a great , so I want good video and photo but affordable though. Reslly no more than 1000 .. canon only ? What you suggest
I currently have an M50 and I need to buy 2 add on items that are not supported on the M50. If I purchased the EOS R50 Would I be able to use MK controls lightning bug and intervalometer? Great information! 😮
Honestly I never used either one of those so I couldn't say but I'd ask the developer of the software before buying it.
Do a setup video and settings and all gonna buy this
Thanks for the video suggestion. I'll probably be releasing those in the near future.
Super! Thanks for the video. I want to get the sigma 16mm, do I need an adapter for this camera?
If the Sigma 16mm is an EF or EF-S lens you can use it on the r50 with an adapter. If it is the EF-m Sigma 16mm it cannot be used on the r50 even with an adapter.
Debating between this camera and the Sony ZV E10 for vlogging and a little bit of sit down in front of the camera content. Which would you recommend?
I prefer the R50 due to less of a crop when Image Stabe is turned on. The ZVE10 has like a 40% crop on top of the existing APS-C Crop. The Lens selection for the Sony is much better than Canon though.
For baby/kid portrait photos and videos, would you recommend the zv-e10 or the r50?
R50 all day
Awesome video!! Do you recommend R50 or R10, primarily for photography 💜 this will be my first camera!
For photos I like the R10 better
@@FulaanCreative thanks Fulaan 💜
One more question - out of those filter adapters you’ve listed in the description, how do I pick? 😅
just grab the base unit which comes with the ND filter. That's all you really need.
I was looking at the lumix g85, but with the autofocusing issues, and the MFT sensor, plus it being 5~ years old, im leaning more towards this.
Yeah, good AF is so helpful
i’m thinking of getting my first camera, im undecided between the r50 and r10. I’m mainly going to focusing on cinematography and video stuff. Which one would you recommend i go with?
If it's your first camera the r50 is plenty. If money isn't an issue and you don't mind paying a little more for a camera that has a 2 hour record limit instead of 1 hour and some extra photo capabilities then I would grab the r10.
@@FulaanCreative Alright Thank you so much, love your content btw
Great video - will the Sigma lens for the M50 work on this camera?
Not the EF-M ones. You can adapt EF nd EF-s though.
@@FulaanCreative thank you
Hi there! Great video. I’m just slightly confused about the mounts. Does the canon mount adapter EF-EOS R not resolve the issue of not being able to use EOS lenses?
I am a novice with cameras but we need a second camera for our podcast. I already have the EOS m6 mark ii so it would be nice to use the lenses I have for that camera
I have an EF M lense. Would I not be able to use this on the R50
Hello. No you wouldn't be able to use those lenses on the R50. You may want to grab another M6 II or an M50, especially if you get a deal on a used one in good shape.
@@FulaanCreative thanks for the reply! If I wanted to go full frame on my next camera. What would your recommendation be… if I can use my current lenses then great
@@TheOneMoreSongCast I like the Lumix S5 II. Those Ef-M lenses won't work with any other camera system.
Thank you for the video 🙏🏻, could you please give me an advice
I want to buy it for the professional use in the studios for photos mostly
Thank you in advance
It's a great camera.
Which camera is a "natural" upgrade from the Canon m50? I was thinking about the Canon R7, but is there a better suggestion? I'm just a hobby enthusiast, so FF is probably out of my scope.
The R7 would be great. If you did want to go full frame there is the R8 that just came out which is the same price as the r7. The R8 is like an m50 on steroids.
You listed 3 different Meiki filter adapters in your description but which one of those is the one youre referring to in the video?
The Main one comes with the ND filter. That is the one you need the most. The other filters are for different Uses. When you get the Meike EFT-R adapter it comes with the variable ND filter.
hey man, i'm new to photography. which do you prefer for a beginner like me? Sony a6400 or Canon r50?
R50 all day.
Would you recommend this for music videos?
Love the R50 . My only problem is in showcase mode there is no mic adjustment . Was hoping the new firmware update would fix that but it didn't😑
Yeah some Canon Cameras are quirky like that. You pretty much have to set the levels before recording.
Sir I have a doubt, I am thinking of purchasing R50 mainly I will do Flower photography, so the kit lens are quite good enough to get the absolute colour of the flower?
The kit lens should be fine for flowers. If you find that it isn't sufficient you could always get another lens later on.
For now my budjet is R50. hope I will get the actual colour of the flowrr and a good clarity background blur
Canon R50 has an 3.5mm diameter stereo mini jack, but is it truly stereo? The canon M50 had this listed in it's specifications and it turned out to be only mono audio. None of the reviews have actually answered this question for me.
Unfortunately I'm also unaware of that detail.
👍
Crisp short, to the point.
I would request a video with R50 show casing difference in Photo and video quality with EF and RF lenses for example adapter+EF50 mm f/1.8 vs RF50mm f/1.8.
That is my only concern. To go with RF or EF with an adaptor.
🙏
Thanks for the idea!
Hey did you find a video with this comparison?
@@Paisamexa No. I'm sadly moving towards Sony APSC.
Bcos Canon hasn't announced any lenses for their APSC. except 50mm.
Lenses are the eyes of Mirroless bodies. Canon doesn't give us variety in Eyes 😞
Sony has tremendous lense choices with Sigma, Tamron.
So now, thinking of A6400 or ZV-E10.
Hello! Thank you for the video! One question, do you know if the EF-EOS R 0.71x Speed Booster Mount Adapter, compatible with Canon EF lenses to Canon RF-Mount, works well with the new Canon R50?
I'm sure it works very well. If you could find the viltrox one anywhere I like it better than the canon speed booster. They don't make it anymore but you might be able to find a used copy somewhere.
I just got back from a video/photo gig in the Simpson desert, Australia. I used a rigged up EOS-R as my main camera. Using a 7" Ninja recorder was brutal in the heat. 10 bit internal would have been nice, but harsh environments like that require the sturdiest build and the best weather seating to keep that dust out.
This camera would have made a better B cam than my black magic or 5D MKIII.
Solid specs, but how would it handle the heat?
That's a good question. I've never used any camera in that challenging of an environment so I couldn't say but what I can say is if you run it at 4k 24 fps I think it should be fine but as soon as you switch it to 30 or 60 fps I think a reduction in recording time due to overheating is a real concern.
@@FulaanCreative I shot at 1080p, just to keep the write speed and heat down. Good point, I hadn't thought about frame rate. I did a few shots for slo-mo, but mostly stuck with 24fps. Probably good that it worked out that way.
I should look into ASPC vs Full Frame in the heat. I noticed the image getting a little mushy when it was really hot. I wonder if the bigger sensor is better or worse at controlling that issue.
This camera looks pretty good. 10 bit internal is real nice. Does it do that dual iso trick for wide dynamic range?
Would this be a decent upgrade if I already have a t7 or a waste of money?Photography only.
The new AF modes will probably be useful depending on how you shoot. The R10 is a little bit more expensive but would be a slightly better choice if you mainly do photos
I owned M100 and invest in three additional EF-M lenses. I plan to upgrade to M50 Mkii mainly because I can reuse the lenses I have. But I do want to switch to R system. The only thing that prevent me from doing so is the need to reinvest on lenses. I do hope though that Canon can find a way to make the EF-M lenses fit into the R mount. It'll make switching more gradual to the pocket without sacrificing much on the capability. Not all of us can afford to buy 3 lenses in short order.
If the gear you have does what yo need it to do there is no pressing need to upgrade at all. I am constantly going through new gear because this is a camera and tutorial channel after all but if it wasn't I probably would just keep shooting on my m50 for years.
What is the situation on the R50 for Clean HDMI out for streaming/webcam use? I can't seem to find a clear answer in the specs or the manual and it's a dealbreaker for me if it can't provide clean HDMI out like the M50 Mark II.
I haven't looked into that yet but if the M50 II had it I would hope the R50 does as well.
@@FulaanCreative You would hope so! From what I've read in the manual it doesn't make it very clear and the 2 selectable options are for Camera screen + HDMI or External display only via HDMI.
"Shooting information, AF points, and other information is shown on the external device via HDMI, but you can stop output of this information by pressing the INFO button.
Before recording movies externally, confirm that no information is being sent by the camera by making sure no shooting information, AF points, and so on is displayed on external monitors or other devices."
If this means as I suspect that all the info is displayed by default and you have to press the INFO button to get a clean output it puts me off switching from the M50.
Would be good to know for sure before buying.
Whats lens would you recommend for this camera if I want to stream, youtube, and take good pictures? This is going to be my first camera but not sure what lens to buy…
The Sigma 18-35 with the Meike ND Adapter EFT-M adapter is a very nice lens. If you need something wider got with the EF-s 10-18. You will need the same adapter for that lens as well. All the links are in the video description.
@@FulaanCreative thank you I’ll look into those!
How would you compare this to the Sony ZV-E10? Im stuck between which to get
Personally the only advantage I give to the zve-10 is the lack of a recording limit.
What lens or lenses would you recommend for nature photos or sports? Or are the two that you have posted work well with that too?
Those are good. The 50mm RF nifty fifty is also a good all around-er that would do well for sports and nature but if you want to be able shoot from a distance then a 55-250mm would be better. There is an EF-S 55-250 that you can use with an adapter but I'm not sure if Canon makes it any longer. You can probably find a used copy for pretty cheap.
@@FulaanCreative cool, thank you very much. I will check those out. You’re videos are very helpful.
@@FulaanCreative one last question, are the ND filters one size fits all?
@@tony8052 The Meike drop in ND filter adapter will work with any EF or EF-s Lens so it's one size fits all.
What would recommend in these both nikon zv30 vs canon R50 for 80% photography.
I prefer the R50
R50 vs LUMIX s5 for music videos? Which ones better
Since uploading this, have they created more lens that you mentioned weren’t available in this video?
Yes, there are some great lenses now. I like the 16mm f2.8 RF. They also came out with an RF version of the 10-18 I believe.
Picking this bad boy up tomorrow. Any tips?
Photo or Video?
Its good for photos and wich lens is good for photos
Depends what type of photos. I still think one of the best and most versatile lenses is the Sigma 18-35 EF lens but you would need an adapter to use it on the R50
I’m new to pretty much everything, so apologies if I’m asking something so simple. I’m looking at the Meike adapter and see that the R50 is not listed on there. Would it still work on the R50 camera?
The Meike EFTR-C Adapter will work for the R50 or any other RF mount camera. Just note that you can only use EF and EF-s lenses with it though.
@@FulaanCreative Appreciate it! Also, I think I pretty munch binged watch your videos today! They’re extremely well made and thoughtful 💕
Can I shoot HDR-PQ + Cinestyle on top of it?
What about the low light capability of canon R50 when compared with sony zv ev10?? Curious to know.
Sony is a little stronger in low light
Hey mate, which travel lens would you recommend for this camera at around 500 bucks?
I really like the Sigma 18-35. It's an EF lens so you would need an adapter. I would grab the Meike EFT-R Drop In ND adapter. Nd is crucial for outdoor stuff. The Meike adapter would allow you to use the sigma or any other EF or EF-s lens and give you ND for all those lenses.
Can you create a video about setting up the settings for the camera?
Sure, I'll try.
Thank you! I bought the camera and am just barely starting out , I’m ready for this!!!! Your videos helped me with the decision
Also what editing software do you recommend, Devinci Resolve, Adobe, or the new AI ?
Is canon r50 is okay for indoor concert??
I am just watching this video but I want to use this camera with a lense I have which is a EF 24-70mm. He provided a link but it’s not avaible anymore. Can someone help me with this I am new.
I have the canon mark II. Is the image stabilizer better on the R50 because I record a lot of sports videos
If you are talking about the m50 mark ii vs the r50 this stabilization is exactly the same. Nothing changed in that regard.
Hi there , please can you explain, how to use your preset bundle ?
Hello, sure. The Luts are to be used in Davinci resolve, final cut or other pro video editing software. The photo profiles are to be used in adobe lightroom or luminar neo. Hope that helps
Im trying to get into Wildlife and Sports Photography would this be a good camera for it?
I think it would be good as an entry into sports and wildlife. The R10 is just $200 or so more and it would also be a good beginner option.
would the autofocus work if you use an adapter to be able to use the EF lenses?
Yes, it will work just fine. I only own 1 RF lens, mostly I use EF lenses on my RF-mount camera
i was looking for a quick shot 4K cam with a cheap price🙃
but🙄... this video was a year ago to see, do you think i should buy it or is there any other camera with better price and better level🤔?
It's a great camera. One of the best values for the money
I've got an M50, what do you think about the R50 vs the Sony ZV-e10?
In my mind the only thing the zv-e10 has over the r50 is the lack of a record limit.
@@FulaanCreative fair enough. I have a lot of EF glass so that seals it for me.

Will try. Thanks for the suggestion.
@@FulaanCreative you're most welcome
Does using the adaptor allow for stabilisation of the ef lenses?
Yes, If the lens has IS it will work just the same and if not then the digital IS of the camera will work just the same.
@@FulaanCreative thank you so much for the response
What about its flash photography ?
Does it have HSS ?
I have no Idea honestly.
Thinking of retiring my Canon M50 for this bad boy
It would be e significant upgrade in my opinion.
should i get this or the first lumix s5? i currently have canon sl2 with some ef and efs lenses.
The s5 is a better camera but the AF is not as reliable. Depends what you need I guess.
@@FulaanCreative music videos. Is the af really that** bad
I’m torn between the two aswell. Which camera is better for music videos? LUMIX S5 or R50?
What do you think of the R50 paired with the Canon RF800mm lens for bird/wildlife photography?
I think as long as you had it on a tripod it would be amazing for the price. It's an aps-c sensor so you would effectively be getting about 1200mm reach which is great for wildlife photo and video.
@@FulaanCreative thank you kindly. I currently have the 90D with the prime 100-400mm lens and 1.4 extender. Before i buy the 800mm lens, I'll test drive my 100-400 lens just for a point of reference. Thank you for replying. I'm buying the R50 right now.
@@latriciaturner526 You are welcome. I Hope it works well for you.
