    The campfire doughnuts are a great idea. However, the next time you do it, you may want to wait till you're down to glittering coals rather than an open flame. If that oil splashed of the pan or the oil got overheated, you could start a grease fire that would have been hard to put out. Safety first, always!!! Keep on doing what you're doing. Love your videos!!!

    • @pacman_17
      @pacman_17 Před 2 lety +2

      The coals are still way too hot for aluminum nonstick. Maybe putting a few small logs between the coals and pan might be better. The flames engulfing a pan full of oil can end badly

    Another saftey tip is i always clear flammable debri from around the fire pit.. That way it stays contained. Grease fire + dry foliage coving the ground would make for a big camp fire... And anytime when using a canoe/kayak i always carry a patch kit or water proof spray foam.. Have fun and be safe out there!!!

    I make doughnuts like that but I use about 1inch of oil in a skillet ( cause it only cooks one side at a time and will Save a LOT of oil). I sprinkle them with powdered sugar as soon as they come out of the pan hot. Yes they are cheap and freaking delicious!

    On the hole in the kayak. I find almost nothing sticks to the plastic of a kayak. Best way I've found is to get a 5 gallon plastic bucket and cut out a big piece of it for a patch. Get a heat gun and slowly heat the kayak and the patch. Kinda form it together into one piece over the hole.

  • @rhino5419
    @rhino5419 Před 2 lety

    Hi Becca. Do you remember the very first tip i gave you on your first camping trip on the channel, always take 2 or 3 pairs of extra socks! 😂 . Either you get your feet wet or they get cold at night and you can wear several pairs. If you take water from a lake/river you can filter through a sock before boiling it. Put a sock on your hand to handle hot pans. (Always natural fiber, Never synthetic) Put sand or a rock in it and you have a weapon. Etc etc. Ok next tip. For a chopping board you had that dead tree behind you. Tip 3. You have your knife, you can cut a piece of green/live branch, shave it to size and shove it hard into the hole in the kayak.
    I am so jealous, I never had doughnuts while camping. They looked great. That looked so much fun. All the best. (A bit long but you did ask for tips, lol).

    Peel the paper off the biscuits and it will either open up or you can press on the seam and the can of biscuits with open. Also place gently the biscuits away from you in hot grease! Plopping can cause the grease to flow over the pan and start a fire! You also might want to let the fire go down quite a bit! That’s a pretty raging fire to be cooking on! If you’ll put the biscuit in the cinnamon and sugar mix while still hot it will coat the biscuit really well.

  • @Mw541987

    Looked like a good time! If you have a few extra dollars pick up some python straps for the hammock (looked like you had the generic straps that came with the hammock) and as a kayak camper I always bring along some duct tape (I wrap several layers around my nalgene) to temp fix holes or cuts. It doesn't last forever but it's longer than you would think if you clean and dry the area you're applying it to. Keep getting out there and enjoying life!

    Maple Brown Sugar from Quaker is the bomb. I'm recovering from 3 different cancers in 3 years. The worst one was in my vocal chords. The radiation treatments really effected my taste buds and my appetitite. Food that I used to love I can't stomach anymore. I always have the BSM oatmeal every single morning... a double packets of it. Mix a teaspoon of peanut butter into it, Becca... you'll be changed forever. Hammock camping is the way to go... you need to take some sort of cover into it though... even in the summer. It will always get cold on you... no matter the actual temps when you go to bed. At least get yourself a military "woobie". Trust me... you'll love it! Thanks for the video. Always cool to see what you're up to.

Re enforce it several times by crossing it in a patch. Also carry a good tarp for setting up shelter over your hammock with some parachute cords tied to trees. In case a rain storm comes through.

    I normally just use mustard on my hotdogs unless I'm at a restaurant that specializes in "coney dogs" I'm sure you've heard of them but if not they're just dressed up hotdogs with chili, onions and pretty much whatever you want to put on them.
    Also, That dough is definitely supposed to pop like that so you're fine. I usually just tap them on the corner of the one of my kitchen counters I know you don't really have access to that in the woods but you saw the pressure in that can you could most likely e give it a good whack on a tree and it would pop right open.

    Try it. If it's a huge Strped Bass, filet in half. Don't want more than inch on grill

    You should seriously consider buying an ultralight rod & reel setup for fishing it's so much fun and you can catch just about anything on it.

    yum those Hot dogs look good and I'm looking forward to dessert donuts . it was the heat of the oil why some cooked the way they did, but yeh wait for the flames to go down or just remove the pan to the side to try lower the heat other than that, they look delicious 🤤😊 fun and easy to make

    Always count on two things from Becca's videos:
    #1) Awesome B-roll footage. 👀
    #2) Makes you hungry. 😋

    Deli mustard (brown spicy mustart) and onions are all that are needed to make a good hotdog.
    I actually had hot dogs for lunch today and had chopped red onions with mine.
