- Hey All, Kicking things off with a video on a Respray im currently doing on this VS Commodore. The car came to me with all the repair work 95% completed, my instructions were to just get this thing painted. This job isnt going to be a show car job by any means but more a nice tidy street car job. So with that being said cheers for watching and thanks for the support its much appreciated! If you enjoy the video consider subscribing to keep up to date as i get this VS ready to hit the booth and get a fresh coat of Paint lets get it done. Cheers guys!

Got another sub! Still have a Panther mica VS since it was 18 months old
Thank you Mark appreciate it! Wow 18 months old thats crazy, any plans for it?
@@vautorefinishing7672 It has mild 304 5 speed, VR Senator interior including climate. Also fitted a factory sunroof and genuine 3 piece FR'19s. Also added genuine SS spoiler kit with boot spoiler delete. Thinking about doing a walk around drive video czcams.com/video/52p9jWtiRZA/video.html
@@markstella8723 sounds like a nice rig mate! I’ll check the video out
i want to respray my vs vacationer this year hopefully! love the vid & helpful inside knowledge 💯
That sounds good Wayne, whats the colour your going on it? Thanks mate appreciate the kind words and support!
@@vautorefinishing7672 hopefully all goes to plan & i get it done, original plan was “light my fire” that the HSV’s & some VF’s are & now i sort of want a dark blue with some sort of black mixed in there or purple with black, i’ll decide once primer is on i guess
@@vautorefinishing7672 i should have a 3 year heavy panel beater helping me as well if i can get his spare time, fingers crossed 🤞 will make the process a whole lot quicker
@@waynewyborn5697 yeah mate thats the go, its always good getting a hand to get things done thats for sure. Nice colour options youve got, the light my fire would stand out on the VS, what driveline are you running in it?
@@vautorefinishing7672 sorry for the late reply, was busy pulling parts off the rig today & yeah that was my original thought, light my fire will really pop on the back shape fingers crossed & with the chrome trim should top it off, as for driveline just a 3.8 eco with a cam, valve springs, retainers, pushrods, high ratio rockers, few other bits & pieces but once she is painted i have a fg turbo to wack in there at some point just to get under peoples skin 🤣🤣
Cam blue tape good stuff
Spot on mate
Felt a bit strange seeing one side primed then another side primed. why did you do you do this? What primer did you use? Im used to glasurit when I used to do this work, now my painter uses PPG. Just acruiqred a bootlid also, so have all my pieces, now deciding if i change the door moulds and go chrome trims all round if they just stick in. Cheers love the local work - Im in vic metro.
Hey Mate , the reason i primed in stages is because i work full time and i only do this in my spare time after hours. So once i have a few panels repaired i like to prime them and get them sealed up and not let them be exposed to the elements as it could be days or a week before i get another chance to work on the car. Id rather prime whats ready and know its sealed and protected and make progress than wait and have filler/metal exposed to the elememts. I use HAMR products throughout the whole job, i used ppg for the last 8 years at work and currently using Glasurit now its all good stuff in my opinion
What would it roughly cost for me vg too be painted?
Hey mate any tips for cleaning out the old seam sealer from the drop rails? About to do mine. Cheers
Hey Matt, its pretty straightforward all i do is use a wire wheel and strip it all out. When its mostly cracked sometimes most of it will just chip out with a small flat screwdriver then just clean it up with wire wheel. Id then sand it all smooth in the drip rail best you can , put some etch/epoxy primer on first then re seal after you’ve primed it just before you paint. Hope this is the answer you were after 👍🏼
@@vautorefinishing7672 legend thanks man appreciate the help. I was nearly going to seal over the original stuff but thought I better not and do it properly haha
Haha good to hear mate. May as well do it properly its still going to cost you same cheers man
Where are u located mate ? Thinking about getting myn done
Hey mate im located in country victoria
How much would it cost to get my vs resprayed botanica mica
Hey mate, all cars and jobs are different and pricing varies a lot. I cant give a number without seeing a car in person theres just too many variables
@@vautorefinishing7672 fair enough cheers for replying tho 😁
on the cheap closed door under 3k, better job 5k closed door still. more than 5k if needing repairs galore and good porducts used possble even flow coat or cutting back. As mentioned heaps of variables.
