Some very good ideas! Good to see your helping someone who has had a traumatic experience with a good, gentle horse.

I enjoy your transparency and common sense approach to the myths regarding gaited trail horses. Thank you for your videos. 😊 Love my gaited boys!

I finally found a good gaited horse person. I have seen so many high headed, hollow backed horse flippers. Happy horses are the best partners.

Very nice advice. Thank You. Last month I adopted a young TWH and while I've been reading about gaited horses I do know how to get ground work done so I'm hoping when I get a chance to start working him again I will have much more knowledge about what I need to do under different circumstances. He was shot in his right flank 2 days after I got him home so he's working on recovery right now. People like you and a few other on CZcams are helping me learn so much and I appreciate it.

It’s not just a problem in a the gaited horse industry. It’s the same in the whole horse industry. Self carriage relaxation and softness should be the goal for all horses.

Video only just started. I am in Australia, where we do not have the gaited breeds, but we sure as heck have the gene, particularly in the district of our Snowy Mountains, highly prized by our old mountain horsemen. I am 76yo, speaking of the 1970's. I rode a few up there, and ran some trail riding. Some were gaited, all used plain ring snaffles. I acquired a young Jindabyne mare, forward walker but no gait. Of 7 fillies all raised in the 80's, only one gaited. Mostly because I did not know how to bring it out. But I would have bet my life savings on 2 of them over 15 miles in a flat walk, if such betting had still been a thing.
But I learned. Looong stirrups, weight in feet, the horse can use his spine, but not with your weight on it.
Oh, I do love a gaited horse.
