Ahh… one of my dads favorites❤️ he’s not dead or anything but I love him, and this song is nice
Your dad is a precious treasure. Respect his musical taste.
I too admire this song, and I'm very pleased to learn that Mr Garage is still among us. KIndest regards from Derbyshire, UK.
Was eating dinner with my family and I was talking about bowling. My dad asks “did you take the skinheads bowling?” which confused all of us. We continue eating and he finishes first, goes out to the living room, and starts playing this song via CZcams. Thanks Dad
At least he didn't try to lick your knees.
I think your dad and I should go bowling.
This song reminds me of being 12 and hanging out with my bestie Jessica. She passed away a little over a year ago. I'll always treasure those times. I miss her a lot.
:(
Shannon Lee Really, really sad...
So sorry
Take her bowling when you see her again, if you see skinheads or fascists please send them to the hot place.
Your comment was very touching. If you're close to my age (43) we're beginning to day the occasional goodbye, especially those of us who lived on the wild side. These great old tunes can be saddening and bring happiness. Cheers to ya.
This was my teenage skating music. We'd listen to these guys, Dead Kennedys, Butthole Surfers, and other bands and it was awesome. Now Im too old and out of shape to skate so I just enjoy the music
I now want to go bowling so bad that I invited my sons' mother along with the boys. I marketed this to her by saying that I would suck, she could scoff, and the boys would have fun. This song has earwormed me and send me down the road to gutter ballz galore.
Some people say all bowling alleys look the same.
I just got this on vinyl from goodwill.... damned surprised to see it there

@@aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasdf I have two different if I'm not mistaken. I'm not back home until Wednesday evening I can check and let you know. Maybe I can send you one😁
Used to hear this played in record stores around Boston in the late 80s. I thought it was about giving them a beatdown. AKA. Take them bowling.
Was the only one of thirty people at bar trivia tonight that nailed this song from the intro. Our team won, of course, droppin' knowledge like that!
"there's not a line that goes here that rhymes with anything"
Lmao 😂
best line

Anything, anything....
Except, of course for the line that describes how there’s not a line that goes there that rhymes with anything
this song is a fuckin ear worm, it wont leave!!!, heard it on a mp3 of a radio shgow i listened to in the 90's,which i put on my ipod by mistake and it lead me to seek out this song. had never heard of them but ituned the fuck out of there back catalogue. what a great time we live in for music
Used to see a local band back in the day that covered this song. Always loved it.
Un tema que cuando lo metes,,,te das cuenta ,que es divertido, y la gente se abraza,se divierte.Y de eso se trata
Catchy tune...I like their sense of humor.
"Anything. Anything." :-) xx

or even now

Still fresh AF
There was a lot of music like this in the early/mid/late 80s. lol I guess I just could have said the 80s. It was rough and unpolished with a call back to a particular kind of 60's sitcom breeziness about it. Reagan's machinations were poisoning the country and Mojo Nixon, the Dead Milkmen, the Violent Femmes, They Might Be Giants... they all said Flock you! I gotta go to a party at the beach!
35 years whoa... brilliant
😬
I love this tune.
It's great when music can just be fun.
I did. Afterwards, we went to McDonald's.
It was the best day of my life.

Underrated.
Brilliant song, reminds of velvet underground so much
I Miss you Anime Harpy Erin, hope you're ok out there, somewhere. you were a cool chick.
This song is legendary and so nostalgic for me. The verse is godly beautiful ❤
I don’t usually focus on its lyric, I’ve learned to enjoy the music, because I don’t care about skinheads, dumb heads, shite heads, etc… .
This reminds me of hanging out with my friends in the summer. Man I love being young
I thought we were gonna be young forever, and those days would never end.. god damn shame how.it all shook out in the end...

Love the idea of trying to soothe skinheads, even the 70's mob were scary! (old punk) :)
Just take them bowling. Works every time.
Meh… not nearly as scary as you’d think. Most of the boneheads are now married with kids and fuss over their pets and lawns just like anybody else. A lot of them have Asian or Mexican wives, ironically.
It was really just a subculture like any other. I laugh when I think about what a big deal the media made it out to be in the 90’s. It was nothing like that at all. Not even close.
Everybody's coming home for lunch these days!

Bueno el que me conoce??? Sabe que es una de mis favoritas. Siempre hay que llevarla en la MALETA.
Como siempre digo?? Elegancia pura .
Heard this on KEXP Seattle. Great station & song. 1985? Whatever you say, dude. = )
My dude. Great reference. KEXP did not exist in 1985. It was KCMU. Remember? Good days my dude.
I heard this from time to time on UK (evening) radio in the summer of 1986.

Shame there's not a groovy little vid with this. It deserves it.
There is a music video that goes with it that might still be floating around CZcams. Greetings from the world of tomorrow

Take the skinheads (racists) bowling (a sport where a black bowling ball is knocking down white pins.)
Cool!

just heard this on BBC 6 music. Bizarre and funny.
you with me still? goin' to "Lost in the Supermarket" by The Clash
This reminds me of the time I went to a school in Hammersmith, and I met a green dinosaur called Gerald, and he showed me his collection of matchsticks and Tory handbags, whilst simultaneously glazing a golden giraffe who loved Tom Hanks films and recently published a book about walking backwards...
We obviously don't understand each other so let's have a party.
@@buddyontheweb Funny you mentioned having a party. That's the reason I'm here!

I just purchased that matchstick collection on eBay

Yeesh, imagine coming home for lunch. Couldn't be me.
I’ve a suggestion for y’all, put on your headsets and jump on your skateboards. Take them rolling… .
Why is this not on Tidal?
they do all look the same!
This is based on a true story
YO PETER.
Damn! I was gonna reply with that line : )`
Take the skinheads bowling because they think all bowling alleys are the same and they got big lanes. It’s about how we shouldn’t condemn people with bigoted thoughts, we should instead try to prove them wrong by befriending them and trying to show them that they’re wrong by being kind to them. Could be wrong here but that’s what I get from the song and I think it’s a beautiful message.
Lmao at you. Don't pretend to know what Skinhead means.

I interpreted differently but was just the chorus line that stuck with me.

Cool song but never really liked the goofy style of the lyrics as a lot of songs from that era started doing that.
