Hi Squirrel! Actually, North Africa drives on the right. Southern Africa drives on the left, so the game is correct.
(7 years later) This game has improved a lot
No kidding, and yet again recently
North and west africa - right hand drive, south and east africa (in general) - left hand drive, LHD countries South Africa northeastward to Uganda and Kenya.
Got my Monster Energy Ripper and I'm ready to watch your commentary !
Have fun with those hairpin turns, Squirrel. :)
From what I recall on a Top Gear episode when they were in Africa, I believe that there is one country in Africa that drives on the right side.
Hey Squirrel, thanks for posting all your EuroTruck videos. I love watching your EuroTruck videos.
I will try OMSI Bus Sim 2 when it comes out later this year. I really hope they put English audio in it this time.
820 was never in the game. It came with a mod (can't remember which one).
There are many kinds of retarder but they all have a similar principle - to reduce the vehicle's speed by taking advantage of the engine's combustion cycle to cause a braking effect on the transmission. Some of the techniques are noisy but all of them are non-friction based (like wheel brakes) so they won't "fade". However, because they rely on the engine speed the amount of braking force reduces with speed so they won't stop the vehicle, only help to slow it down.
The good thing about the SDK, is that now people who wants to build a "Truck" machine just for ETS2 can have external/third party gauges and stuff, so they can, like, built their own 'cockpit', since now the have telemetry output available. That's quite common on the flightsim world.
One thing they have added which I have noticed only since installing patch 1.4 (not seen it in the patch description) is that when I start up the truck (mine is done with a button rather than pressing the pedal (Using G27) it has an ignition stage before the engine starts. So press the button once, all lights etc can be used, then press it again to start the engine. Quite cool I think. And the FFB effects are SO much better!! Very impressed overall.
coaches tend to pick up large groups of people and take them across country or to another country whereas buses have a set route and take people from stop to stop along that route
I have never played ETS 2 but I think adding in an actual radio would be a neat idea. So as your driving you can jam out with some tunes.
DaSquirrelsNuts Question from Tennessee USA, Whats the difference between a pound and a euro?
@DaSquirrelsNuts I recently bought a Logitech g27 about a week before the patch. Whenever I pressed the clutch pedal down to shift, I would have to press it down all the way about 2 or 3 times before ETS recognized that I was trying to shift. Since the patch I have to press the clutch pedal halfway down for it to recognize. So much easier!
Another speed camera was behind the JET gas/petrol station at 18:26.
George Xu Just being cheeky...
I know what you mean about the quarry and a 350 brake truck. I have a Scania R440 Highline with the 6x2 chassis, exclusive interior, and a transmission with the retarder. I put on a grille guard on and I have 31 lights on my truck not including the beacons. It's the Scania Orange also. Nice truck.
The telemetry thing opens up the possibility for mod authors to create working taco graphs, which could be analysed at each drop off and penalties issued, it also means that you could have an investigation after a crash and maybe if the taco graph data showed you had been driving well you wouldn't get fined but instead get compensation.
I know nothing about creating mods so these ideas may not even be possible, but I hope they are.
I think the only reason that the coach in front of you sped up when you tried to overtake at 11:30 is that the coach driver is furious with your hig beam headlights being always turned on!! Haha! Very entertaining videos, pal! Keep up!
P.S.: I have already started downloading the demo of the game!
One thing I imagine you could do with the telemetry data is some sort of black box application, that would allow you to analyse your driving and perhaps suggest where you could improve.
I think the telemetry SDK means that you can write third party applications to send telemetry data to different hardwares. This means you can build a cockpit whit working gauges. Lots of driving sims have this kind of feature so that's why I think.
For exemple, let's say one can create an app that displays the GPS info on a tablet, or an external tachometer and speedometer gauges, stuff like that. All that is now possible with an SDK leading the way.
When squirrel tried to pass that bus the bus driver basically said " B*tch you not passing me today" lol
I know. But I wanted to get the Africa trip done in one video so I could focus the whole thing on the 1.4 patch.
In terms of third party stuff you can get actual car/truck clocks to run physically or even export it over wifi to run it on your phone.
See: LFS Dashboard apps.
Some people with driving sim rigs (wheels, pedals, shifter, seat) have boxes which provide rev, speed and other telemetry information. Those people have a way to get those devices to query the game for this information through the SDK.
I now own a G27 but haven't had the opportunity to unbox it yet due to lots of stuff going on right now. Looking forward to it though!
That little trick at 37:20 is actually not new to me ^^ I was doing this for quite a while till I wanted it a bit more realistic! I was even driving over the sidewalks ^^
I'll save this video for dinner later, looking forward to it =D
14:35 that part of the road reminds of a course on scania truck simulator...
Me too! I might pull a truck up next to it and watch the planes come in =)
I loaded my save game up, undone all mods, just two. Then selected beta/alpha versions via steam settings, and updated to 1.4.1 beta/alpha. Mine seems to work fine. With mod off, speed limiter off in settings, my Volvo appears to behave in a very similar fashion as it done in the old version with physics mod on. Very interesting update.
Something I noticed, when you're about to run off the road, you hear that whoooom sound from the dips on the sides of the road to prevent you from running off.
I think you would use the scroll wheel on the mouse to accelerate or slow down/break. Scroll up for acceleration and scroll down to slow down and break. It would be very similar to the way you use the accelerate/slow down on your joystick.
I do read the comments. So you mean the white line is also a rumble strip? They aren't in the UK, not sure about Africa.
Thanks for being my informant, I've haven't got round to playing ETS2 fr a while and was unaware 1.4 was out, until now.
What telemetry does is that it writes all the travell data such as speed fuel usage etc. Not sure what it will allow but maybe some mods that allow you to earn more money if you drive fuel-efficently. And what I have noticed already telemetry affects trucks damage. For now the truck got only engine malfunction - now it is possible to damage brakes clutch and gearbox...
North Africa drives on the right.
They did drive on the left until they had independence from the UK.
Some parts in central, eastern and southern Africa drives on the left
wikipedia . org /wiki/Right-_and_left-hand_traffic
Squirrel We want to see that airport :D
As long as you are careful not to drive more than 10 hours, I guess. On long trips though I don't see how you could avoid driving at night. If you start a long job at 6am and drive for 10 hours then sleep ... it's going to be the middle of the night. How do you avoid that?
If you have the Agarabatic trailer mod then remove it. If you are running Realistic Physics 1.x then move up to 5.0 or 6.0. Also, make sure the Realistic Physics loads last by renaming it to "zzzz Realistic Physics". If that doesn't work then disable all your mods and enable then one at a time until you work out which one is the culprit.
Oh, and they have added airbreak system, you can accually run out of air in the breaks now, not that you will, no road put that much strain on the breaks. Wish there was abit more challange like that. Heavier loads without having to have dodgy mods. You can also remove speedlimiter in options now, and alot of other great improvements!
Great video sir -
Squirrel, when they said you could scroll through the job menu, its still in pages, but you can use the scroll wheel.
Very true, I disabled all my mods before I updated the game in case it broke my save file. As someone else pointed out, it was Realistic Physics. Not quite so bad, impressed with 1.4 so far though. Like the rumble noise on the white lines etc.
One example for the use of the SDK, anyone with a Logitech G19 keyboard for example could get a third party app that shows truck data via the LCD, Perhaps even Android/iOS apps to show the GPS or something.
Yes, SCS Software is watching your videos, they are in the top comments of one of your ets videos
When you get 1.4 patch, remember when you said you hate the plan Euro Coaching Sim,well go to Wroclaw,Poland near Trameri(or your real company names Nestle) turn left and then 1st right and there's a bus stop.
The mouse control thing is controlling throttle and breaking by moving the mouse up and down ad then steer by moving left and right.
Squirrel, in N.Africa we DO NOT drive on the left hand side of the road, the map is accurate in that but not that much in the landscape, it's not all desert and tropical trees.
Hey Squirrel! you have inspired me to buy the game and purchase a Logitech G27 steering wheel! Thanks so much for the inspiration!!!!
Good Food some drinks and another great episode from my fav CZcamsr :D keep up the great work man :)
@DaSquirrelsNuts as for the research profile you can avoid the hassle and worry of an updated hacked save game for the 1.4 patch by using a program called cheat engine. There is a video (not by me, look up how to change ETS2 money with cheat engine) this video will show you how to use the program to change what you wish in the profile of your choice and how much or how many to the exact number you specify.
If I had the game, I would have rain on all the time! Love the rain! Sounds and everything makes me warm and fuzzy inside :-P
I know it's late. driving in rain at night with latest mods of 2021 is an experience to be enjoyed now. its get close to photorealism
It's not called corruption, when you got "mysterious" speeding offenses. It's fair because if there are speed cameras with signs pointing them out, everyone will speed between them and slow down when they go past. So they will speed, but not get fined or it.
right click your ets2 in ur library go to properties then betas tab drop down menu and click on the newest patch ( very bottom) close the window and it will start updating good luck :)
i need that game!!!!
I need this game more than anything but my parents can't afford to buy it
If anyone wants to apply the 1.4 patch on steam you can get it now by right clicking on ETS in your steam library and going to properties. Go to the Betas tab and select Temporary 1.4.1 for early access and click close. The patch should start to download after about a minute
very nicely done Sir and spot on with commentary and point of view ^_~ cheers
Suggestion for the World Truck Simulator: When you have multiplayer and you install trailer mods, and when you go to a warehouse that has that mod and another driver comes to the same warehouse your trailer mod turns blurry ( as in "a little fading of the quality). That means if the trailer is blurry, that trailer is not your mod, it's someone else's, which means that the person who installed that mod can only use it........
Yes! FInally in 1.4.1 the game is in Fullscreen on 1280x1024 without black lines. Thank you SCS!
i was thinking maybe its a few days for it to go on steam update. luckily i have no mods on atm so i dont have to mess around too much. cheers anyway dude!
Only if you buy the Steam, there will update automatically, but if you buy in store outside of Steam, u will have to download future updates, and recommend other than 1.4.8, it is only a beta version, still contains many bugs then the more stable is the 1.4.1!
On the side of the profile selection screen you should get a message telling you the update is out with a change log, there should be a link at the top, if you click the link it will take you to the website where you can download the update.
You can update on steam by rightclicking on ets2- proporties- beta- then choose 1.1.4 and then close the window :D
Yay new episode!! Man i love watching your commentary!!! Keep up!
the patch is going good so far, i must say that i like the new Iveco, my only problem is, it needs MORE POWA, 536 hp and 2 some thousand Nm of torque isn't much when you are used to driving a Scania or Volvo with the big engines, but i think I'm going to use the telemetry option and have some fun, no clue on map yet, bout to install this map to find out, more info later on today, and also all of my mods work and real physics won't be a problem with the patch
and for the last time, some pronunciations of areas (according to the Arabic)
- Redeyef - AR-RudaYY-if
-Gafsa - Qaf-Sah guttural q and s
El Hamma - Hamah 'strong'(in a way) first h.
Well what can I say? If you skip out a chunk of videos you can't expect to know what's going any more can you?
Hint: the title says "(Research Profile)".
15:00 ish.. the mouse and keybord steering has been along for ages. ive used it all along. you steer left and right with the mouse and accellerate/brake with w/s
By the way you can use your arrows to move
you have to go to the euro truck simulator 2 website and click on the update button and you can click on "Patch from 1.3.0 or 1.3.1 version to 1.4.1" use the torrent
Because of you, Squirrel, I've got a mediocre pc thrown together to try this PC gaming thing a whirl; specifically ETS2 and WoT. :) I've been playing ETS2 now for a couple days and am totally hooked!
the second speeding offence, the camera was behind the display of petrol that's why you could not see it
it is probably push the mouse forward to accelerate an pull it backwards to brake if you have played omsi you can test how it works
Lots of people are saying you do... how confusing. Does all of Africa drive on the left or the right?
I think it is like a brakelever that you move to brake the truck. You dont have to depress the brakepedal.
I was going to note that north Africa drives on the right while southeastern Africa drives on the left, but I see several other folks noted it. Oh well, I guess that I did anyways.
This is why I have my sleep simulation off. The amount of time you can drive without sleeping it's unrealistically short. I kind of have my own sleeping simulation. In your case i'd keep driving to the delivery and then sleep. I still force myself to rest/sleep to keep it realistic, but when I want to. In real life I doubt truck drivers can be so many hours late.
More stopping power is always a good thing in a truck
Squirrel I wish THIS SERVICE AND WILL BE available on ets2 old
Thank you Squirrel...Learn something new everyday :)
I would love to see a rendition of the Bolivian Death Road. Would love to see Squirrel do that map.
Trick nr.2: when u see a Red light, but you have to turn right; slowly drive over the Sidewalk to avoid a ticket/fine :)
The speed camera was behind a tree at 3:52.
George Xu Just being cheeky...
Double white line mean don't cross not dont overtake you are only aloud over them we turning right in uk and obstructions and also vechile going 10mph or under you can
Majestic for next episode!
I just noticed this when you make a new profile on euro truck there is a playing module which cant be changed atm. I think that there IS going to be more countries in the close future!!
yes and btw i♥your vids good job man a huge fan of your work good luck forword il make sure to stay subbed!
10:44 external screen speedometers!! or external blinker levers and windscreenwiperlever. in short. it opens the door to diy truck dashboards! :o
after you've updated your game, you will get a message saying something like: to prevent damaging your save game, your current delivery has been canceled without a fine, and your truck has been parked at a safe location
I saw no speed camera signs, but I saw speed signs showing "70" right before the truck pulled into the fuel station ahead of you
the road from el hamma to tunis looks really cool perhaps you could get a job in tripoli and drive up it?
i thought coaches are for long distance traveling..a higher sitting area with comfy chairs, and a luggage space underneeth.
and busses are the one they use in public transportation.. no luggage space underneeth the sitting area, and a somewhat default interior.
correct me if im wrong though
I think everybody wants to see that airport!
This is to do with a mod interfering with the physics engine, it's known as the "reversing bug". There is a video on my channel on how to remove it, and if you have any other questions feel free to dm me.
Hey squirrel,if you are using steam then you can go to options and choose that the game does not update itself.
if they are paying attention to the community then that is a good thing.
Now we can all cruise on the highway at 100km/h
I don't pay that much attention to national flags to be honest. It certainly doesn't affect my desire to drive trucks around the beautiful Scandanavian landscape.
Can't wait for the next video!!!
