Why is everyone fat shaming the female lead?
In fact,the lead not being your typical heroine actually makes this drama interesting. Otherwise,there are tons of historical Chinese dramas out there- both melodramatic and with romcom vibes. Go watch those.
I still can't believe in this day and era people are still commenting things like, "She's not a real female lead,looks like his mother" etc. Like have yall never had any chubby girl or chubby friend or chubby cousin in real life?
She's actually a beauty standard for that time period. Even in Western culture, that figure is considered desirable to conceive.
So many faces in Chinese dramas are sculpted by plastic surgery. And so many of the actresses are so skinny their skeletal in real life to maintain this image. It's sad that in one drama they have a woman who probably looks like quite a few women in China on TV in the first reaction is to hate her for not being this fantastical ideal that no one can stand up to.
It really tells you something about how the beauty standards can make a person dislike themselves. I think part of it is many netizens have this fantasy that they can magically become the perfect body type and live in a fantasy world. Seeing someone who doesn't fit that requires confronting things about those standards and what goes into the fantasies people want to see.
And she is NOT chubby, she is just not anorexic and skeletal like so many of the female chinese leads.

People far shaming her ? She isn’t fat but skinny. She isn’t super skinny thou. Like she isn’t ugly but not standard but I just don’t think two leads have chemistry but I thinks she has chemistry with the 2nd lead more. Lol
She is a beautiful woman. Unconventional, wild, fierce, independent, fiesty and beautiful. She has a great heart. I love her style. Kudos to the beautiful actress who played her.

But she actually IS pretty and has charm, independence, without the skeletal frame on so many of these lead females. She is a NORMAL size.

Me gusto mucho es un drama diferente. La reyna es muy real y el rey al inicio no le gustaba pero todo se fue dando poco a poco y ambos aprendieron uno del otro. Muy buena realmente. Me encanto ver al guapo Li Hongyi.
I recommend you all to watch Song of youth (where the fl plays a character role not as a main lead) before or after watching this drama may you'll find it interesting.

De todos los dramas es la pareja más dispareja bien feita la reina aquí ni he visto ningún beso y este carro siempre wbesa mucho a su protagonista a mujer pero con esta gordita no fue será que no le gusto tampoco.
La crítica y la envidia son una combinación letal, pero no para la persona sino para quien siente esas emociones.
I hope Li Hongyi will have a "Real Female Lead" like Zhao Lusi just like in the ☺️ series "Love Better Than Immortality"

I think I am the only person in this planet who findthis story boring. This has nothing to do with both lead actors. I watched this drama cause everyone kept saing that it was really great, so I finished watching it. I just hope it might be something interesting somewhere. But.... Nope. This is definitely on my "never watch, never visit again" list. Doesn't live up to the hype at all.

This is a really funny series. Well worth watching. The story is based around the idea that the queen is NOT the typical thin, graceful, well mannered female; it's what provides much of the humor. I hope you give it a chance.
