  • First part of my recent trip on board Train No. 26 - Ekspres Rakyat Timuran from JB Sentral to Tumpat.
    This video covers the journey from JB Sentral station in the southern state of Johor to Gemas station in the state of Negeri Sembilan.
    The Ekspres Rakyat Timuran is currently the only overnight train with sleeper accommodation on the KTM network and covers the 723 km journey from JB Sentral to Tumpat in just over 17 hours.
    On the way it passes through some spectacular scenery, including forests, viaducts, bridges and tunnels.
    Enjoy the experience of riding on board the train, including a view of the ADNS sleeper coaches, ASC Superior Class and AC Premier Class chair car coaches as well as the Cafe Car.
    With the impending introduction of the Diesel Multiple Unit trainset on the route, the days of the old world locomotive hauled passenger trains are numbered, so now is the best time to experience this train.

    Alangkah beruntungnya kalau tempat anda mempunyai keretapi. Sehingga hari ini saya hanya berpengalaman menaiki keretapi sekali sahaja pada tahun 1980 dari Tampin ke Singapore. Bandar Melaka walaupun terkenal tetapi tiada mempunyai keretapi😭

    I wish the entire country transits to Phase 3 so that I could ride the Rakyat Timuran Express to Tumpat. It's surely a never-forgetting experience as you get to see the rural scenery of East Coast Malaysia at an affordable price.

    In the future Johor railway will use ETS, only left East Coast can choose between loco train & ECRL. I will miss this train, last time ride this sleeper train from KL to Singapore.

      Not sure as the Ekspres Rakyat Timuran is retained for the JB Sentral-Tumpat route despite the electrification between Gemas and JB Sentral. In fact two new loco depots are currently under construction in Genuang and Mengkibol (for freight and passenger locos) to ease the dispatch of backup locos in case of loco failure (they often fail between Gemas and Kluang, no idea why) so it is likely that the sleeper train is still retained, but the Southern Shuttle service existing since 2005 (as Southern Shuttle trains 61,62,63,64,65, later trains 41 till 46) would be terminated and replaced by the ETS and KTM Komuter Selatan.

    KTMB perlu membuat promotion lebih kerap seminggu 1 trip dari JB ke tumpat atau 2 minggu 1 kali trip dari Singapore ke tumpat bagi keretapi sleep ing setidaknya apabila ETS telah beroperasi keretapi Diesel tetap menjadi ikon pelancongan bertaraf 5 bintang yang boleh memberi pengalaman kepada penggemar travel train traditional dan mungkin boleh menjadikan penambahan trip kdari jb ke padang besar mana tahu jika ade permintaan menggalakkan bagi orang JB or Singapore menikmatinya

    As someone who is also planning to do the same journey solo, may I ask if you were ever concerned about your belongings left unattended at your bunk/seat for longer periods of time? Especially during station stops when anyone could just take your bag and alight. Did you use luggage or zipper locks?

    • @Amediocretrainspotter
      @Amediocretrainspotter Před rokem

    • @WorldRailwaysinAction
      @WorldRailwaysinAction  Před rokem

      I was travelling with my family so there was always someone at the seat to look after the luggage. However, I would recommend using chain locks to secure your luggage to the seat

      @@otaiman6728 No. Mel Siang and Mel Malam, commonly known as the Sinaran Utara, Sinaran Timur and Sinaran Selatan trains has been terminated on 1 July 2015 and 19 May 2016 respectively, with the Sinaran Utara being combined with Senandung Langkawi to form the short-lived Peninsular Express. Only Ekspres Timuran (Senandung Timuran or Rakyat Timuran Express since 19 May 2016) and the two local mail (shuttle) trains are only available; Southern Shuttle and Eastern Shuttle. The latter already uses the new DMU while the former still uses the old coaches commonly used on mail trains, albeit with newer ASC coaches. Also, the Senandung Malam or Senandung Sutera has been terminated effectively 19 May 2016 along with Rakyat Express and Peninsular Express (formerly known as Senandung Langkawi Express and Sinaran Utara Express)
