My DREAM Lover Fest Setlist
With rumors Taylor has apparently blocked out dates next summer for a 2023 tour, I thought I’d take it back in time to good ol’ ‘Lover Fest’ and offer what I would have wanted to see for its’ setlist as well as general concepts I had for the tour that never was.
I know I’ve been doing artist album rankings recently, and I’ll pick up on that next week without a doubt - looking into Rihanna and Beyonce! The last few video essays I’ve done have really consumed my time, so just to be able to keep a semi-consistent upload rate, I do at times opt for subject matter that requires little research and I can talk off the cuff for. So, thank you for your patience.
As we continue, let me know what your ideal “Lover Fest” setlist would be in the comments. “Lover” is undoubtedly one of my favorite eras of Taylor’s, and really the first one I got to experience front to back, from the colorful posts on Instagram to the era being cut short and breaking all of our hearts.
Taylor usually keeps her setlists between seventeen to twenty songs, the latter being the most she’s performed. This doesn’t include mashups of course. The ‘reputation Stadium Tour’ offered three mashups, giving us twenty-three songs in total.
I made a ‘Lover Fest’ setlist back in 2019 and haven’t touched it, so I’m revisiting it and gonna’ give it a facelift. I’ve also made an imaginary setlist for “folklore” and “evermore”, so if you’re interested in that, let me know! I also have an entire essay I wrote about why the track “evermore” is actually about Hannah Montana and I made a pretty damn convincing argument.
When making the setlist, I had to keep several things in mind. To reference her last three tours, the ‘reputation Stadium Tour’ covered fourteen out of fifteen songs off “reputation”, the ‘1989 World Tour’ covered fifteen out of the sixteen songs off “1989” and the ‘Red Tour’ covered thirteen out of nineteen songs.
These metrics, so to speak, are not indicative of every show but generally the setlist for most shows. “So It Goes…”, “Wonderland”, “The Last Time”, “Sad, Beautiful, Tragic”, “Starlight”, “The Moment I Knew”, “Come Back…Be Here” and “Girl At Home” were all songs primarily left off the setlist of their tours.
Generally, Taylor has been able to keep most of her album in her respective tour setlist. Excluding surprise songs that can be from any album, the ‘reputation Stadium Tour’ had songs from five of her six albums, the ‘1989 Tour’ had songs from four of her five albums and the ‘Red Tour” represented three out of four albums.
As her tours have progressed, debut and “Speak Now” seem to be the albums that get the short end of the stick for the most part. So now that we know all this, our ‘Lover Fest’ setlist can incorporate at least a representative from five to six albums, cap around twenty to twenty five songs including mashups and should include most of the album tracks. I combed through her setlist and ended up with thirty-four songs I’m going to whittle down to twenty five, medley and mashups included - so let’s dive in!

I think songs like Sparks Fly, Speak Now, Starlight, New Romantics, Fearless, Untouchable and King Of My Heart would fit really good on Lover Fest. And I would love to hear that Red/Daylight mashup

For more info about lover fest I really recomend Swiftly Spoken Podcast, they did a great job. I love their idea of Afterglow as an opener. Also cruel summer really diserves better, I am almost shure sHe would promote this tour witH it, and music video. WE VE BEEN ROBBED !!!

False God could fit well with So It Goes… as a mashup. I can hear it happening, and it sounds divine in my head. And for Cornelia Street, she could start with an acoustic set then transition into a full band performance after the first chorus.
I also assume she won’t be doing Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince, The Archer, Soon You’ll Get Better, and even All Too Well. INTHAF could be an interlude before transitioning to another song, but I don’t see it as a standalone.
Daylight will definitely be the closer, with Lover coming before it. The transition could be a bit easier played on piano.
ME! has the perfect encore sound, especially with the drums and trumpets.
reputation had songs from all 6 albums on the main set! Should’ve Said No (debut), Love Story and YBWM (Fearless), Long Live (Speak Now), WANEGBT (Red), and Blank Space and Style and Bad Blood (1989) were all setlist staples from rep.

Instead of Lover Fest, I imagine Taylor embarks the brand new tour after she complete to releasing all her re-recording albums. I can see it will be entitled "The Taylor's Version Tour", but it will not be just a tour with the setlist full of her greatest hits, but still focuses on the theme, which I think it probably will be 'her story' and, of course, 'love'.
So, this is my imagine setlist for The Taylor's Version Tour.

Yeah, it looks very long compare to Taylor's normal setlist for her tour, but I think we don't have any problem with long setlist as long as it's Taylor, right? Lol.

This would be lit for Coachella!!🔥 A documentary behind it and film the whole show like Homecoming, this setlist would be amazing!!
i also think that she'll go next year on big tour and it will be probably Taylor's Version Tour where she'll perform her whole career, all 9 albums' hits and fans favorites and vault tracks, that what i think she'd do, but 40 tracks setlists would be too much. Even though we Swifties would be ok with 4 hours concerts it would be for Taylor too much to handle both physically and vocally. Even though most Taylor's songs aren't vocally much difficult, singing for 4 hours 3 times per weeks wouldn't be possible, after month on tour her vocal cords would be damaged.
I have different idea. I think she should do some triple tour, she has Lover, Folklore and Evermore to perform and also there are vault tracks from all re-recordings. To perform all of them she could do some kind of triple tour. For Summer 2023 make Lover Fest, for fall 2023 perform Folklorevermore Tour, and In Spring 2024 start Taylor's Version Tour, all re-recordings will be out, so all vault tracks and it would be celebration of re-recordings and biggest hits and in Fall release TS10 and start again normal era cykle.

I'm also interested in who's going to be the openers if it is a festival. She did say originally it was Lover Fest "& Friends". Olivia Rodrigo or Conan Gray (or both) would be a shoo-in. I'd be excited to see Maggie Lindemann, Gayle, Chloe, or Willow Smith.
Awesome set list! The only thing I would do is include Cruel Summer on the actual set list, and also try and make it the opener.
You should make videos about your set lists for folklore and evermore! Also make a video why evermore is about Hannah Montana just for the heck of it!!!
I really wouldn't want her to mashup the songs that she didn't perform before like Afterglow,I think he knows. Also I would love if she would open with Cruel Summer and then New Romantics

I'm quite sure Taylor is planning Taylor's Version Tour in 2023 where she would play practically her whole discography, biggest hits of all 9 albums, vaults tracks from re-recordings and fans' favorites. And then probably release TS10 around fall and again start normal album cycle. But i really want Lover, Folklore and Evermore have their moment, so i think it would be so cool if she made something like Triple Tour, she would start with Lover Fest in summer then Folklorevermore Tour in fall and then start Taylor's Version Tour and after it start new era with release of TS10.
So she could perform and celebrate all albums but also have some pauses between performing. I know it could be difficult, especially because she would touring like year and half with pauses, and she said she didn't wanted Lover had long tour because of her Mom's cancer and brain tumor, and also Taylor is in age and state of mind where she's definitely starting thinking about starting a family and even though she's such a big workoholic, i'm sure she wouldn't want to be on tour while pregnant or go on tour early after gave birth. So who knows, this will definitely stay only in my dreams, but it'd be so cool, but anything she'll do will be perfect.
Please she needs to revive the lover fest. I need to witness her concept. Then she could jump into folklore/evermore kinda tour then she could do it all that taylor's version.
This is interesting to make videos about setlists concepts for artists, if you're gonna make more, next should be Selena's Rare Tour. I created setlist that i'd really loved to see her perform.
I actually really like this setlist, it's different with Taylor she has SOOOOOOO many songs, I just did a dream Katy Perry Coachella setlist in my notes, have you thought of doing other artist setlist?
You know, I can't help but wonder if this tour is going to actually BE the Lover Fest. Of course, that begs the question of how folklore, evermore, and Midnights, as well as the re-recording vault tracks, would be handled if that's the case.
Really good setlist, but you should have talked more about how great Cruel Summer is and how incredible it would be as an encore
Off topic but so sad that So It Goes… was cut from the Reputation tour! It’s my favorite song from the album and I wish we got the huge production present from the song instead of the acoustic version (For the record though, I do appreciate the acoustic version but I still love the studio version the most)
i like how she did So It Goes acoustically, i wish it was stable on set and she performed Dancing With Ours Hands Tied with big production how it deserved, i love acoustic version of it, but it deserved that big stage and production. I think she chose it is because she wasn't confident to try DWOHT high notes, but she always could just dodge it or make a note change, but she definitely had skills to do it like nothing if she wanted. I would put it between End Game and King Of My Heart But it would be cool to see So It Goes live with all production. Where in setlist would you put it? I think i would put it between Getaway Car and Call It What You Want.

those two alternative albums are not suitable for arena/stadium (big crowd). those albums are only appropriate for acoustic session, intimate concert or theater hall type of show.
i mean, Madonna had a residency show tour and Lady Gaga had two different types of shows for Enigma, like for Taylor, First Night would be like Lover Fest and Second Night would be intimate for Folklore and Evermore

please post your setlist for folklore and evermore! ive been trying to make a fanmade setlist for those for AGES but i just cant figure out what older hits to include and what newer songs to put
i think that Folklorevermore Tour should be just made of Folklore and Evermore, together they make 34 songs and without bonus tracks 31. There are only few songs that would fit to these albums and those songs are probably only Safe And Sound and Sad Beautiful Tragic + Nice To Have A Friend. They are sister albums and don't need any other songs to them.
I love The Archer and Lover(song).

I don't think she will tour in 2023. I think she will complete the rerecordings In 2023 (2 albums in 2022 and 2 albums in 2023). And than in 2024 there will be a massive tour for lover,folklore,evermore and vault tracks. By than the covid will also definitely be over do it will be the best time.

Um… I feel like there's TOO MANY slow songs here, I feel like it's kinda unlikely to happen? You couldn't keep it upbeat and excited with THAT MANY slow songs, you know? And this is the "festival", I think that you need more fast pace songs to feel like you're in a "FESTIVAL", right? And Ending with Cruel Summer? A lyrically sad ending? It doesn't sounds likely to happen too, just saying, I feel like it's gonna be the song which will perform when it's close to the end, like she did with Getaway Car, or I Knew You Were Trouble or something like that, maybe ME! will be the last song that she perform? Like she did with her 1989 and RED Tour, It's the 1st single of the album, and it's really upbeat and happy too, feels like it!!!
She might need to plan a "slot machine" type of festival where she only performs songs once on the tour. Between all the hits and the deep cuts people want to hear, as well as Lover, folklore, and evermore waiting for their tour debuts, it's impossible to get through a clear-cut list even if the festival is as long as a Coachella setlist.

I would also love to see a mash-up of Enchanted, Begin Again and Call It What You Want, but i don't know where in setlist it would fit, let's pretend that if there wasn't a Surprise Song, then there would be this mash-up or in place between Daylight and Love Story.
I know it's a lot songs, like around 34, but i would really love her to perform more songs on Lover Fest, especially because Lover had inspiration in older album, you can hear kinda nostalgic feeling throughout the album and a lot songs could be with few changes on older album that's why i would love to see her perform more older songs, but also let's pretend it's still 2020 and pandemic never happened, she would also play a lot older songs to show like a middle finger to Scooter Braun, do you know what i mean.?
