Something I never expected to come out of sharing my art journey and paintings online is the increase in confidence in not only my art skills, but all areas of my life. I want to share how being true to my passions has allowed me to take pride in my artwork and ultimately myself. I'm painting an alla prima portrait in an impressionistic style that I have been trying to improve in! This piece was a breakthrough artwork for me to learning how to simplify. Even though I still see areas I want to get better in, I feel like I finally got an understanding on how to paint realistically without painting every detail. Also, we added a new family member! I'm so excited to introduce you to Mango, our new puppy. I can't wait for us to watch her grow up together. Enjoy this dreamy art vlog!

I feel exactly the same. I sketch every day since 8 years. And now I m very confident with myself. I was never confident. But now I m, just because I get good at what matters to me the most. Its very interesting. for example: Before i never approach girls, because i was too shy. Now its no problem. Just because of drawing. Never expected that outcome. And I have no success with my drawings by now. Its just the feeling that I m good at what I do.

Making it out at a young age is quite difficult. I started a side hustle at 17, saved up and made some good investments. l'm 28,live on my own and having a good life for myself. Big ups to you and everyone out there trying

What a relaxing video to watch. The pup is adorable. Artists shouldn't get any criticism because there's always a process evolving to come up with their very best and be more confident. Art is a way of expression. It shouldn't be judged. What matters is you create is "art". Period. Improve along the way. Nobody appreciated the works of Van Gogh during his time but he kept on doing what he liked. You'e good Ashleigh !🙂

How wonderful that you can share all this with us all as Artists! It is so lovely to be able to help other Artists like this too. The other day I was at an op shop (second hand shop) I bought this cheap painting that I liked in a frame and got to talking with the owner of the shop about his Art. Well he showed me his sketches! All he had was a pad of paper and some crayons! I told him that I like his drawings and his colours we talked all about that and by the end of my purchases he was very enthusiastic to keep going with his Art. We really appreciate your thoughts and your Art. Thank You for sharing . I think Little Mango is absolutely gorgeous. I also have a large dog too who I adore.

I can totally relate bestie! I am 17 right now and I really wanna pursue art as a career, but I always get intimidated by people who tease me about how it's not a "real" career, and it that it should remain as a hobby. When I was 15 I kinda gave in and took science, but rn I realise how much of a big mistake I made by not doing what I actually was interested in. Thankfully next year I can still join an art school and thankfully I never stopped practicing drawing random stuff. I'm still insecure about it a lil bit and not fully confident, but I gotta do what I gotta do. Also videos like these help me a lot and make me feel like I am not alone in this very cruel situation. Your videos are really aesthetically pleasing Ashleigh, keep on goin!! Also your puppy is really cute, loads of hugs for ya!!

I can't wait to see the other half of your pair of paintings. I have to say that being proud of the work one does is not a boastful thing as long as a person does a reality check and doesn't think more highly of oneself that one ought to. It's such a wonderful feeling when one grows with their painting, and I see that in your work. I've seen it in my painting as well, and it is a nice feeling to know that I'm gaining more confidence with each painting. I still have such a long way to go, but that's okay. I'm enjoying my journey. Stay just as you are and true to yourself and you'll go far.

Mango is gorgeous! I love her!!! Also, the stuff you said at the beginning, about beating yourself up over if something you said in conversations might have been embarrassing or whatever, or changing yourself to fit in, that's me all over. I'm still working on being myself and letting the chips fall where they will, but I'm getting there.
Good luck with the impressionism. I have the exact opposite problem. My art style is naturally minimalist, so impressionism just seems kinda second nature to me. It's going into greater detail that I get into trouble. Somehow I always end up with a busy, muddy mess. Something else I'm working on. Guess that's why they call it a "Journey." Great Vlog! 👏👏👏👏

Not sure if it's just me noticing, but your painting skills look to be improving with time. Kudos! I'm also in the process of trying to employ a loose painterly style in my art, but struggling since I'm so used to detailed realism that it's tempting to just keep finessing. Hopefully I'll hack it someday. You've done it successfully in your portrait. I'll look for tutorials on this style of painting

Hey Ashleigh! What a heartfelt video! Really resonates with me :) I'm an indoor plant person and have cats who take every opportunity to chew on plant leaves :( Hence I did a lot of research before bringing plants home. Pothos and zz plants (on the aspca website) are highly toxic to dogs and cats- so you may need to place the pots outside or out of reach of Mango :) Puppies are notorious chewers!!
