As a point and shoot consumer, I don’t want to have to fuss with photos or videos afterwards.
While I agree with you, at the pricepoint most professional cameras are and how cheap accelerometers are, there is no reason a camera couldn't have an accelerometer and embed the sensor data on the metadata of the video for later processing on the PC, to use this data for post-processing stabilization. No need to process in-camera, just embed the raw data on the video for later use.
Just popping in to say, "Thank you" for this channel. I just discovered your channel TODAY, and found more no-nonsense, DIY ideas today than I've found searching CZcams for years. I'm re-inspired to do more and do better with my video content.

I get what you mean but I can't help but feel like smartphone cameras are really good for non-professional people.
They are! That's why they're designed that way. I use mine all the time for family videos.
I am at the start of my career and I don't have a spiffy camera. I am using my iPhone to record an online course for someone and I am pretty happy with the results. I think education is a good professional example where you really don't need more than a basic shot that looks "nice."
What I don’t like about cameras verses phones is just how ‘precious’ camera companies are about resolution and frame rates. It’s really annoying that the Sony E10 for instance goes to 4k 30fps with very poor 1080p performance while phones and action cams for 4k 60fps with excellent 1080. Phones are getting better every year for sure.

The other area my Iphone 11 excels is in close focus, almost to the level of macro videography. The cool thing is the way if you give it good light, you'll get amazing depth of field that is hard to compete even with an SLR using a macro lens. Maybe it's something about tiny lenses that give them advantage....
I wonder if we can just get full frame cameras with stabilization that works best on APS-C lenses allowing them to utilize the full functionality of image stabilization from a full-frame camera. To be honest, it makes the most sense to me. Yeah, you won't get a full frame equivalent. Cropping but it's the most stabilized thing we could probably see on a mirror of this camera. And that just takes processing power like you said
If only shoot jpg/heif and mp4/hevc on both A7RV and iPhone 15 to reduce fil size and post processing, is it still a lot better in image quality on A7RV than iPhone 15?
The same is true with still photography. I took a sunrise picture with my iPhone. The dynamic range on that image is stunning. In the days of old, I would need to take 3 images, get into photoshop and marge the different images by hand to get that type of dynamic range. Now, all that is done in an instant in the phone. Incredible.
Yes. That's what I notice with the phones now to. The dynamic range is unreal. I'm getting a new phone because of this.
Is it good setup if I get A7RV and just one 70-200 F4 Macro II and use standard iPhone 15 for closer shoot? iPhone 15 has 13mm, 26mm and 52mm and less intimidate and always be with you, that tele can get you to 600mm with 2X converter and APSC mode and 1:1 macro. Before this I thought to get SONY Xperia 1 V as pocket camera because it's more natural than iPhone but I will end up carry 2 phones and one not much better than other. I thought to get RX100 because it is more likely to get carry and less intimidate, RX10 will get to 600mm at mirrorrless body size but I hope both will get update with their Exmor T sensor technology. Leica Q3 is nice but I Like Hasselblad X2D color more, with XCD 28mm F4 (28mm FF eq.) on the X2D, it's noot much bigger than it and that is one thinng I wonder, why carry a smaller camera if it is not pocketable small, you get less grip and EVF yet still need to keep in a bag, that's why I wonder what's the point to get a not so much better and slightly smaller camera and not just straight up an RX100 or a full size capable camera like A7RV which is like their APSC body with a big EVF attached and a good 4 way flip screen. If I going to get a closer lens, should I get 20-70mm F4 which is the actual first lens I thought to get to pair with A7Cii/A7CR before the tele or should I get the wider 16-35mm F4 PZ which cover more range pair with the tele and the missing 35mm < x < 70mm doesn't matter since I can crop. I shoot as hobbyist and use for personal product shoot sometime, I don't like to bokeh the background because I want my photos and videos with story and creativity and also I shoot with phone majority all my life and want to step it up but I not sure should I just enjoy the convenient of just carry a phone and I not sure I will always carry and use the camera body to justify the price. What do you think? Also, can you easily digitally crop in as much as you want like smartphone pitch to zoom during recording video and photo or you have to and only able to crop to the available crop level like APSC mode, how many digital crop level available too?

Sure stabilization might be a bit better on a phone than a camera, however the image quality will always be better on the most recent mirrorless cameras of the last 5 years. Phones only have reasonably okay quality in good light and fall apart in low light, except for maybe some in camera phone merging of images with software in photo mode. I would still pick a mirrorless full frame camera every day of the week for pro work. And ideally the camera should have IBIS, in camera image stabilization. Phones are fine for certain work like social media and instagram reels and short bursts of video or personal vlogging perhaps with very good lighting available. But which is better was the question. Apsc sensors are noisier than full frame. I would say full frame sensors with IBIS from latest mirrorless trumps most phone video quality.

True, for certain purposes all my current camera setup isn't good as my current phone so I use that. When I remember to lock the focus if won't wander around the frame following my hands (that's the "advantage" my Canon 5D Mark II has, no autofocus for video ;) ).

I took your suggestion and try to hire a bit rate on my pixelated picture of the trees of the drone flight.
I rendered it out at 1280x720
At a bit rate of 40
Where is my previous render was 1920x1080
And the bitrate was 20
Anyway even a bit rate of 40 didn't seem to help at all it made it really Bad.
But I'm going to keep plucking around with it.

Hi James, I agree it all depends on personal choice, however there are so many benefits using a smartphone for some creative projects, and the number 1 reason imho is -what you see it what you get! I shot a impromptu photo of a restaurant at night using my old iPhone 11, hand-held, standing under a street light, with no tripod, no flash just my iPhone. one shot. Currently that photo almost 2 millions views on Google maps!
Keep in mind that it's the composition that counts, likely more than your ancient iPhone ever can from a technical standpoint, but if the image is not ruined too much with noise, then it should be a great photo.
A lot of cameras introduce noise when you shoot in low light, introducing both luminenence and/or chroma noise that can muddy up your shot, unless it's B&W, then you'll likely only have just luminenance noise.
Also, running the camera at too high an ISO can also bring on noise, and what we are seeing now is small sensors with too many mega pixels crammed onto it, and they will, by their nature be noisy in anything less than great lighting.
Some of my pictures come out better from my iPhone 13 than my Canon R50 and the stabilization but the lighting in the camera is slightly less exposed
And don't forget that the smaller the sensor the easier is to stabilize videos, and phones have a tiny sensor.
according to it I have a 500dollar bridge camera call canon SX60 by comparing both iso 1600 at the low light there is less noise on the S23 more noise on the canon SX60 which im dissappointing canon sucks another thing is, low light video on canon is hella dim if your outside dark with plenty of lights but with the s23 i can see everything.
Another thing is no touch focus, I hate it so much why can they just include a touchscreen for video too.
So smartphone beats camera.

Well you knew that the title of this bit alone would garner responses. Yet again you do a good job. But the answer to the question is NO not if one takes image quality into account or the ability to "slap-on" a 600/4.0 to shoot wildlife.
Mr Sony Silly-Conductors announced he will put the first 1" 100mp camera in a smartphone. Well no doubt he will also be installing a 4, 6 or 6TB SSD in the phone as well AND does not care about the very small diffraction "limits" from using tiny tiny lenses/optics. The bulk of the mega-pixel race is marketing hype and responding to foolish buying behaviour from some buyers. Like shooting 8k video and instantly having to down sample to 1080p -- it is just nuts. The iphone 14 max pro is rumoured to have a 48 mp main camera !
It is no wonder why the Phase One IQ4 150mp Medium Format Sensor is considered the best commercially available sensor available today, and when paired with the blue ring glass in the ZF or used on the XT body with the Rodenstock glass provides the highest possible quality images (and that is before using multi-shot and other on camera tools). For the average consumer 12mp or 24mp are far more than they want or need - as is 480p let alone higher definition video formats.
Phones have limited focal length due to optical limitations. If you zoom in to a photo the image will crumble quickly.
can you maybe tell me why 1080p footage shot on quite cheap phones can look better than 1080p footage shot on the Galaxy s21ultra for example ?
i don't understand... i thought 1080p was just very good but on my s21 ultra it's very bad.

Phone cameras are just that, a lens designed with compactness and efficiency in mind, made to be as versatile as possible. However the big difference between a phone camera is the design of purpose, if we are talking purely photography the. The DSLR cannot be beaten for this type of work. Heck, film is still higher resolution than digital media still.

Phones have more incentive to have the best stabilization, it's a phone on the go for people that may even video chat for business while biking or jogging and etc

Seriously though, the phones are really killing it lately. And like you said in a previous video, the videos you put the least effort into sometimes get the most views. At least that is true for myself. So, I'm getting the latest greatest camera phone and just relaxing, and shooting. Going to do my very best at not caring that quality could have been a touch better.
I need 1:1 ratio in phone camera 3840x3840 for better ai stabilization to 16:9

There are camera "hobbyists" and "professionals". If you're attempting to make a living from camerawork, you'll know the real difference between a phone and a professional camera within your first day of using one professionally. If you try to make a living shooting videos for others using your phone, you won't make a living. Simple as that.
I bet you could make a living shooting videos on a phone and posting to youtube and I bet there are people who are doing that
Why aren't mirrorless or cinema camera inducing ai processing as an option?
Because a photographer and videographer will want full control on how the content is recorded. Not all scenarios require AI processing.

It's so simple to answer, "what device you think this video shot from?". Just look at what professional use to produce high quality video and earn their living.
Who wants to haule around a brick when you can just reach into your pocket and take ready to go videos and photos? No time wasted in post problem solved. With a mirrorless or DSLR APSC or full frame you're likely to miss the shot changing lens or accidentally forget the focus was in manual the displays on all hand held cameras are low resolution small and not as vibrant as an iphone however pro cameras quality is best Definitiated on a large high definition display where the advantage is clear.
Yes the processing power of a computer is much greater than that of a cellphone, but now you added another item to the equation a computer and not just any computer because not all of them are designed for video editing... also you need another thing which is post-processing software and again add more money... just my 2cents. IPhones are nothing but confusion creating gadget in the market. A question is whether all the phones can do the same thing, answer is yes. A phone is a phone and can never become a camera. So i don't think i agree with you
I would not say better than "real" cameras, but so good that for most users bulky real cameras have become obsolete. Artificial intelligence adds some value to phone cameras which "real" cameras typically do not have. Recently I sold my Olympus OMD-M1 MarkII with 12-100mm and 300mm lenses (corresponding to 24-200 and 600mm full frame). Now I am perfectly happy with my Samsung S22 and a "real" but small and light 1-inch sensor Panasonic TZ202 in case I wished to take pictures from wild animals at some distance.
