No talking, just walking. Exploring the English Countryside. A nice gentle walk around Ambleside Town in the poring rain. Walking through the centre of town we come across a heavy flowing river that passes under a house on a bridge. Bridge House was built over Stock Ghyll more than 300 years ago. It was purchased by local people in 1926 and given to the National Trust. Listed Grade I, the building is now used as an information centre for the National Trust, and is part of the Trust's Windermere and Troutbeck property. We continue around town until reaching St Mary's Church and have a look inside before finishing walking around the Churchyard. A lovely wet walk. Do enjoy :)

About Dave's Walks
Hi there, I‘m Dave! I've lived in the English Countryside all my life, and I love it! I enjoy walking, and couldn’t help but notice just how beautiful the UK can be away from the cities. I found myself inspired and decided to get some camera equipment and make some walking videos so I can share my walks of the beautiful countryside with everyone!
I will mainly focus on small towns, villages, picturesque landscapes, rolling hills and mountains, forests and canals, all along the coastlines in England, Scotland, Wales, and who knows maybe one day further afar!
I upload every Sunday 11.45am GMT (3.45am PST) (6.45am EST) (5.15pm IST) (9.15pm ACST)

It really does help me so much! Not just coffee but also things like petrol, car maintenance, overnight stays in places, parking tickets, admission and entry fees to places I wouldn’t normally go to, it really does go a long way helping me make content for everyone!!

I use the free version of Davinci Resolve 16 to do some really basic editing. Mainly making sure the sky isn't over exposed. It's from Camera straight to CZcams. No cuts, no fancy business, no talking, just walking.

Psssst Hey there...
I have a second CZcams channel. It is a bit different to what I do here. Feel free to check it out.
/ @mrshawster
Absolutely the best walks for the treadmill. Things I like most about your videos - there's very little editing. We can hear your footsteps and birds singing. You don't speed it up like some do, so it's like they are on a skateboard! Plus, you stop and look at interesting things. And very importantly, you don't edit out other people who pass you on your walks. That makes a big difference, especially to women who walk alone in real life. It makes your walks feel safer.
Hi there! I wouldn't want to make CZcams videos in any other way! I think editing any of it would just straight away prevent any sense of immersion! Glad you are enjoying it!
@@DavesWalks Thanks for replying! I'm disabled as well, so although people might think my comment is wierd, "feeling safer" on a virtual walk online? but it really does make a difference that your walks are so natural and you don't edit out passers by, dog walkers etc.
@@DavesWalks Absolutely right!
Have you tried Rambalac? His walks are wonderful and very safe as they're in Japan.
How can I not have realised this before?? Of course walk videos like this are perfect for a treadmill!
When someone misses England, they rarely miss the tourist spots and the popular places. It is often the daily route to work, the walk to Tescos, or even walking to the GP lol... The double yellow lines on the road. The cobbled streets.. The blurriness of daily rains. SO thank you for this
I can almost smell the fresh rain and feel the cool mist on my face! Such a lovely town!
Beautiful English countryside.
Indeed it is!
So fresh video..I like rainy weather 👍✈...thank you very much 🙏🌳🌲🙏
I'm bedridden and can't go anywhere but your video made me feel like I was walking through a picturesque English town. Thanks Dave :)
It is a pleasure to share with you Irene! 😊👍
I love walks in the rain. Rain drops on leaves, the umbrella, wet footsteps, rushing water, alternate routes ... it makes it all a perfect rainy English day!
AS a Brit living in the US for many years this is the best view of UK as I remember it as a kid in the 40's & 50's - always grey skies, always the need for a 'brolly', we never could do a barbecue in those days - not enough sunny days to bother with anything like that ! But - the soft gentle rain is something I always enjoyed. This is a lovely video. Going home for some tea & toast was always the best thing ! Yet my many childhood memories of jaunts in the little old Austin car we had, and camping in such rain as this down in Dorset - all beautiful in spite of the mainly rainy days !!! THANK YOU !
I am of English/Welsh descent. I long to live in England. I am so worn out by the descent of America into hell. I love the sound of the rain.😊
I enjoy taking walks in the rain. Raindrops on the foliage, the umbrella, wet feet, rushing water, other routes... it's all wonderful for a rainy English day!
Dave, I cannot comment enough on your videos. Going through a very rough patch in life right now and having your videos up while I go about my day on the computer has been so helpful. Thank you again
Happy to be of help Nick. This peaceful corner of the internet is always here when you need.
This makes me so homesick for England. I moved to Australia 14 years ago and still miss it incredibly.
You miss damp wet weather 😮😮
Spent the day here in the 80's on a school trip to do a walking survey. Beautiful little village, the kind of place you want to wake up in. This is the real England.
Wow the water!
We’ve just had snow here in Scotland
So much rain! Beautiful English town even in this grey weather!
Indeed it is!
So relaxing 😴💤😴💤
My first time visiting with you, AND I LOVED IT! The every day nit and grit of living, topped by the beauty of this magical place called England. This Yank, a native of Texas, hopes that some part of Heaven will be like this and The Good Lord has a spot for me there. Deepest Gratitudes for a wonderful experience, thru your lens!
Glad you enjoyed it Judy😊👍
THIS is what I picture every English Town to look like. Loved this walk!! Beautiful little Town!!
Glad you enjoyed it Karen 😊👍
It's a bit like a virtual vacation, just sitting on the sofa at home, but feeling the beautiful village atmosphere! A wonderful walk !!!❤️❤️❤️
Glad you enjoyed it!
Watching videos like this makes me yearn to travel again, Waking through European cities just gives me a sense of peace and calm that I just don't get here in the US. Maybe it's the difference in architecture and the age of the buildings; I just find it lovely.
Maybe it's the amount of cars. The US is much more car dependent.
Maybe it’s the lack of random mass shootings.
@@joenickell6323 ? I have no idea what that means?
US towns could be like this if we made them walkable. There are only a handful of US cities that are walkable or put public transportation first, and the differences are palpable.
Unfortunately people are too far dependent here. Therefore towns are designed with that in mind. You end up with endless parking lots and giant stroads. You can’t walk anywhere because nothing is designed to accommodate that. Worse - people keep buying bigger and bigger crossovers and SUVs, exacerbating the problem. It’s a nightmare.

Just put this on paus (11.37 ) whilst I say: What a pleasure it is to be taken on a silent tour around Ambleside. Thank you ! Now back to it ..
The stone work in this town is just very fine!
Agreed! It really stood out to me too!
Nothing better than walking through the English countryside especially in
the rain and wearing a raincoat with a pocket filled with snacks and bottles of water in case I get hungry and thirsty.
Rain sounds relax the soul. Thanks for sharing! ❤️
Oh yay!! I love Ambleside!!! And I love the rain too. Thank you Dave!
No problem Ash! 😊👍
Reminds me I need to put some flowers on my parents grave 💐
I like when it rain standing on ur porch with a nice mug of tea ot hot chocolate. As long it don't flood I'm good
Always happy to see a big nice mug of hot Chocolate!
@@DavesWalks yeah me too
wow beautiful places.. 👍🏻👍🏻love walks in the rain
Ambleside is a lovely town with lots of charm and character.
Its two mill wheels are remarkable as well as the old house which bridges!!.
The streets and houses are very, very pretty too.
The church and its cemetery are worth a leisurely visit.
The interior of the church is magnificent.
It was raining, but that didn't take away from the charm of this walk.
Thanks Dave.
😀😀😀😀😀
I am a country girl through and through, give me the woods and open fields any day. Not a fan at all of towns and cities, but this place is beautiful, definitely has charm.
Spent some time as a child in Ambleside, before returning back to Scotland. Brought back some lovely memories. Thank you.
The town is nice. Your fan.
This took me back to my holiday in 1993 when we visited (home for me) from the US. We took a look inside the Bridge House. I also have a Lilliput Lane replica of it. Just gorgeous ❤🇬🇧
Me born in America. West coast. Seattle area. Lots of rain. I’m now 70 and living in the desert. I miss the rain and the fresh cool wet air. Some think I’m nuts because I like the rain, but that may be because my ancestral roots are in the British Isles, and the fact that I was born at the base of the Olympic Rain Forest. My soul is acclimated to rain, ferns, moss and the smell of the evergreen Forrest. Thanks for your efforts in bringing us all your relaxing videos! Have a fun day !!!!
Thank you 😃👍
Excelente
Absolutely wonderful, what a beautiful town! I love the sounds of the rain and water and NO music which makes your video just perfect 😍 thanks so much for the treat. I’m a new subie after that 😃👏🏻
A pleasure to have you along for the adventures Ann! 😊👍
Another top quality video Dave. Love it! Happy Sunday all.
Really liked this one. Especially the little roam inside the church. As always....your choice of location, is wonderful.
It was indeed a lovely little church, happy I got to film in it! Hope you are well RavenStrike!
@@DavesWalks - Certainly trying to be mate. Hope all is well with you and the family. Stay safe and healthy.
مااجمل المطر ....ومااجمل هذه البلاد التي تمنيت ان ازورها منذ 30 عاما ولم تتحقق .😍😍💖💖💖💖
Love the stone buildings. This looks like such a peaceful village. I imagine after walking in the rain I would go indoors and eat a bowl of chili. Sounds like a cozy day 😌
Wow! A big difference since my youth hostel days in the fifties! All those shops! 😄.....and traffic! Thankyou for posting this.
My pleasure 😊
Just love your channel. This is the second one I have watched, will continue to watch more. Who doesn't love walking in the rain. Everything looks so different when it's raining. This is my favorite video so far.
Awesome! Glad you enjoyed it Patricia! 😊👍
So very pretty. Thank you. ❤️
You are very welcome Lynn!
Love the buildings and landscaping. The rain makes it so relaxing
I am surprised how beautiful it is in European countries, without Europe this world simply would not be so interesting, I would like to say a special thank you to those who filmed this video.
How not to love England!?
May God bless every English family ...in the Name of Jesus Christ Amen!
The church and the graveyard were spectacular!
Glad you enjoyed it JJ B 😊👍
I watch this video on regular basis.
This video suddenly appeared in my feed… and I’m hooked ! I absolutely love quaint British villages like this. The sounds of the rain and river makes this video even more relaxing. Im subscribing!

I watched your all videos 😊...awesome videos of English countryside... please upload new videos...love from INDIA
Thank you 😊👍
Just looked Ambleside up and found it is in the Lake District and often has some flooding. What a lovely area, even better in the rain for its soothing quality, and the resultant tumultuous streams. Lovely everything.
an absolutely lovely walk. i grow more envious with every video. thanks, dave. :)
A pleasure as always Hellie, hope you are well! 😊👍
Brilliant video, love Ambleside and the fells around it, thanks for sharing

Awesome as always. Thank you for the walk despite the weather condition. ☔❤️🙏
It was oddly satisfying to walk in. As there was no wind I pretty much stayed very dry!
@@DavesWalks fortune favors the brave, maybe? 😊🙏
@@SR-ee5nm I think a lot of us English people are used to it lol 😂 I like our weather weird I know! I think it’s atmospheric!
The place is so clean and beautiful. Nice.
That’s so beautiful! Keep going!
Thank you! Will do!👍😊
Me encantan los paseos bajo la lluvia, escuchando el sonido de las gotas sobre el paraguas. Gracias!💖
feliz de que lo hayas disfrutado, ¡también me encanta el sonido de la lluvia en un paraguas!
I visited Ambleside again last month and I was lucky with the weather but, I noticed that Churchill's pub was being renovated again.Everytime I visit it looks different! I was due to stay there last year but had to cancel due to covid. This time it looks like it's having a complete overhaul.I'll have to visit again next year and see the new Churchill's
It's the Temperance Inn now. Owned by the Inn Collection Group, they have 5 sites through the town.
I enjoyed this walk so much! Sadly for me I will no longer be able to travel, but can enjoy my favorite country vicariously through your videos - thank you!!

Glad to be able to share these places! 😊👍
@@DavesWalks thank u so much
Dont know how I got here but I'd never thought I'd enjoy a walk video so much. The footsteps, sound of raindrops, and of life passing by, sound of silence - perfect! At 12:15 when you stopped to look at that old house, it felt like just the thing I'd have done - stopped and looked ! At 57:55, when you looked back at the tree, I wondered if you were also thinking what I was thinking - as to how old that tree is! . Absolutely loved it, thanks for sharing this experience!
Glad you enjoyed it Raghav!
no sure how this came up on my feed but im so glad it did, super calming and very interesting, you get a sub :)
Happy to hear that the great CZcams Algorithm is doing good work :)

thank you very much ... very beautiful ... the rain is very beautiful in the old city💯💯💔💔💋
Glad you enjoyed it Anna!
My favorite walkthrough video!
Thanks for taking me on this enjoyable walk ☔~from Florida, USA
Gotta love this whole walk. So hot and dry here in VA in the States in August, that this is an absolute pleasure to be part of, whatever month this was in. Imagine living with the sound of rushing water in your backyard. Must flow down from the mountains. Wonder where it goes?
Ambleside is north of lake windermere, some of it will end up in the lake via the river rothay, some will travel west along the river brathay feeding smaller lakes. Lake windermere drains into morcambe bay and the sea via the river leven
Going through your fantastic walks and found this beauty!! Thanks for doing this one for us! You go through a lot of trouble for us. It’s appreciated. Love from Tehachapi California ❤
