Why Judah? Because Judah was remorseful. Judah offered to sacrifice himself instead of Benjamin; he knew his father Jacob loved Benjamin and would be in deep sorrow if Benjamin would be taken as he already lost Joseph. Judah already regretted the loss of Joseph … and so he willingly sacrificed himself. … that’s what God is looking for - a repented heart - which is the message of Jesus. That’s why it’s Judah.
@@1mol831Mary was from the tribe of Juda. Biblical genealogy doesn't directly mention women so when they explained Mary's genealogy, Joseph's name is in place of Mary's he's her husband. It just followed the cultural way they would have explained genealogy at the time. Hope that helps

Because Judah was the lineage of the kings, also the prophecies spoke of the messiah coming from the lineage of David who was of the tribe of Judah. But more importantly, he was in the way of Melchizedek, who was both king and high priest, two roles that were never embodied by a single person in the entirety of the history of the Jewish people until Jesus came along.
There is one more thing Judah did, that I think also links his lineage. It may be obscure, but I always thought it was significant. When the group of Jacob's sons returned to Egypt during the famine, Joseph tested his brothers by secretly putting a golden cup in Benjamins bag. He had a search done an "found " the cup. He was going to throw Benjamin in prison, but Judah stepped up and said "take me instead". He was willing to take a punishment for a crime he didn't commit to save his brother. Much like Jesus taking on the cross to save us.

Those two things are what Yah is looking for that makes a person unique & set apart in HIS eyes. Narrow is the gate (which is the mouth in Hebrew) and difficult is the path that leads to eternal life...there's no extra credit points given from bloodline, because it's not from feeling one is inherently superior and "above" others, but just the opposite! We cannot boast that we are overcomer's through anything uniquely found in us because then Christ wouldn't receive the glory! A person becomes exalted in Yah's eyes--not because of their heritage, but when they choose the path of humility & submission, abasing themselves in service, first to the Almighty Yah, and then to their fellow man.

He was regarded as the son of Joseph, the son of Heli, 24 the son of Matthat, the son of Levi, the son of Melchi, the son of Jannai, the son of Joseph, To repeat, Matt 1 gives the lineage of Joseph the husband of Mary: That man was Joseph ben Jacob, the son of Matthan, the son of Eleazar Luke 3 gives the name of the Joseph everybody knew to be the ACTUAL father of Jesus: that man was named Joseph ben Matthat, the son of Levi. The book of Matthew says that Mary and Joseph ben Heli were married, but had not yet consummated the marriage. As far as he knew, Mary was still a virgin, but Joseph ben Jacob scooted in and knocked Mary up before her husband could stop him. THAT is why Matthew 1:18 and 19 say Joseph ben Heli wanted to divorce her. Since Joseph ben Heli was NOT the Baby Daddy, his lineage has no connection with Jesus. Luke's lineage goes through the wrong son of David, so there's no way to show Jesus was actually in line to the Throne of Judea. NEITHER LINEAGE say they are actually Mary's line, nor does the New Testament give one for Mary.

All of the suppositions you’ve stated are completely contradict what scripture says.

23 Jesus Himself was about thirty years old when He began His ministry. He was regarded as the son of Joseph, the son of Heli, 24 the son of Matthat, the son of Levi, the son of Melchi, the son of Jannai, the son of Joseph,
To repeat, Matt 1 gives the lineage of Joseph the husband of Mary: That man was Joseph ben Jacob, the son of Matthan, the son of Eleazar
Luke 3 gives the name of the Joseph everybody knew to be the ACTUAL father of Jesus: that man was named Joseph ben Matthat, the son of Levi.
The book of Matthew says that Mary and Joseph ben Heli were married, but had not yet consummated the marriage. As far as he knew, Mary was still a virgin, but Joseph ben Jacob scooted in and knocked Mary up before her husband could stop him. THAT is why Matthew 1:18 and 19 say Joseph ben Heli wanted to divorce her.
Since Joseph ben Heli was NOT the Baby Daddy, his lineage has no connection with Jesus. Luke's lineage goes through the wrong son of David, so there's no way to show Jesus was actually in line to the Throne of Judea.
NEITHER LINEAGE say they are actually Mary's line, nor does the New Testament give one for Mary.

@@bluesky6985 The geneologies are CLEARLY written in the bible and it doesn't have Levi as an ancestor, both geneologies contain Judah. So you can continue to go back and forth, or you can go read the begats and see if Levi appears in Jesus' geneology.

Reuben made a mistake and Simeon had anger issues in the way he dealt with his sister’s rapist. Levi was called to priesthood so Judah was called instead of Joseph whom Isreal called. Because God knew that Isreal didn’t love Leah but he put both sisters on equal ground because He is perfect. ❤
