It is actually better for a mother to sleep with her baby, my mom did it with all of my siblings and me. It is much easier to deal with the children and make them stop crying. Plus, they can nurse whenever they want if moms sleep with their babies.
My mom says that she just learned to sleep differently because she was afraid of that at first too. It's better also to not have the baby sleep between the two of you, but rather on the outside of the mom. My mom learned how to sleep differently while she was pregnant so, she was fine when my older sister was born. All of my siblings and I were fine so it can be done. There are six of us.

me and my 4 sibs all grew up sleeping next to our parents but they never have to worry about crushing us because all of us made sure that they wouldn't have to sleep for more than an hour. hahaha my dad, who was still a police man back when I was just born, had to wake up every hour to dance me around when I wake up in the middle of the night then he would just direct my mouth to my mom's breast so I could drink milk because my mom's sleeping hahaha rn my parents never worry about us because we grew up to be good kids, I suppose :)
My experience with this same issue is similar to yours. I and my 5 other siblings all slept next to mom and dad. Mom said she just learned to sleep differently while she was pregnant and slept that same way when we were born. I'd say we grew up pretty well.
I had a c-section too. Our son slept in a bassinet next to us until he was 6 mnths old. I think he started having nightmares then because he would wake up screaming and crying. I gradually started to sleep with him so he'd calm down. Then he just ended up in our bed. Hes 2 and still sleeps with us. He'll sleep on his own again eventually. Right now I'm just enjoying the cuddles.

I also think after a time babies need to be I their own rooms. parents can hang out in there. but the child learns there are 2 rooms. because of what happened to you, is why I don't think they should be in same bed-ever they have bassinets that pull right up to side of bed. it is like they're sleeping next to them
kittty 1919 yeah I quite often laugh it off but when a child dies as a result of it it's really heartbreaking, I'm sure my dad felt very guilty about it, I can't imagine how a parent would feel to loose a child that way...
me and my 4 sibs all grew up sleeping next to our parents but they never have to worry about crushing us because all of us made sure that they wouldn't have to sleep for more than an hour. hahaha my dad, who was still a police man back when I was just born, had to wake up every hour to dance me around when I wake up in the middle of the night then he would just direct my mouth to my mom's breast so I could drink milk because my mom's sleeping hahaha rn my parents never worry about us because we grew up to be good kids, I suppose :)
My experience with this same issue is similar to yours. I and my 5 other siblings all slept next to mom and dad. Mom said she just learned to sleep differently while she was pregnant and slept that same way when we were born. I'd say we grew up pretty well.

I had a c-section too. Our son slept in a bassinet next to us until he was 6 mnths old. I think he started having nightmares then because he would wake up screaming and crying. I gradually started to sleep with him so he'd calm down. Then he just ended up in our bed. Hes 2 and still sleeps with us. He'll sleep on his own again eventually. Right now I'm just enjoying the cuddles.
