Annette is not my go to style, but I’m so tired of hearing people say she was a mistake. This album is one of my favourites. All of the styles have a place in my heart. I take the philosophic approach. You wouldn’t have this album without her.

And I agree with you 100%. My absolute favorite is tarja. But I loooove annetes voice and floors. Each era is unique. But some people don't understand that. Some of floors fans not all only the stupids say that only floor exists . And all the others are awful. Nightwish are nightwish because of tarja . They start together and people loved this band. Tarja for me is the voice of nightwish and always will be. But annete came after and those two albums are phenomenal. Because of tuomas feelings of tarjas exit (dark passion play) he create amazing songs (and imaginaerum). And because of annetes voice. And then floor came. I really love her voice... but I don't like the songs so much of those two albums as much as I loved all the previous albums.

Who? Who even said that? The top comment is "Annette's voice on this album is superb". You know what *I*'m tired of? People bringing up the vocalist debacle over and over again even though nobody said shit. That's like people hitting "Reply all" to tell people to stop using "Reply all" in a company wide email.
In my humble opinion, each of the three ladies had her own, distinctive and unique vocal and they shouldn't be compared.
There’s something magical about Marco and Anette together. Their duets Just might live on as some of my favorites ever.

As much as I love them both, neither Floor nor Tarja could have sung the songs on this album in the same way. Annette may not have been a rock goddess on stage, but she was truly theatrical in her approach to this wonderful concept album and nobody could have done it better. Just superb.

of course we have to keep in mind that Toumas writes the music with the specific vocalist in mind.
This album was meant to fit and compliment Annette's voice. And it is is really a great album, there's no denying that
Floor is worse than Annette because she has neither Tarija's voice nor Annete's imaginaerum

Yeah. Her voice is crystal clear and bright yet she still has a decent range. That's just rare.
I respect the level of skill and talent Floor has but Anette's voice is something else entirely.

Sorry I am sure she is lovely but all I can hear I can hear is Anette failing to sing floor's vocals. You really can't beat a once in a generation voice, sorry to say. Marko is on fire though...

One of the greatest albums EVER released, it's a timeless masterpiece! Annette and the rest of the band were at a peak during this album that not many artists have come close to matching!

One of my favorite Nightwish albums.
Though I do miss Tarja, this is probably the masterpiece of Nightwish. A genius conceptual album that still gives me the shivers such as the Cure's "Disintegration", Pink Floyd's "The Wall" or Marillion's "Script for a Jester's Tear". It is brilliant to the bone.

thoumas has created a masterpiece of legends here. I liked Anette so much in here. Well the Metall Mozart knows how to make Songs for the current leadsinger. For me Imaginearium is Anettes Album and will be forever. still the greatest creation of nightwish in my opinion ❤

2021 - and still for me the best Nightwish Album. Anette was definitley the best choice after the leaving of Tarja. Imaginaerum is nothing but a masterpiece - they never created an album again full of magic, romantic and mysterious atmosphere. The voice range of Anette is amazing - just listen to Slow Love Slow and you know what i mean! Floor may fit perfect to the alpha animal Toumas but they never wrote such a perfect and diversified album.
What!? Are you deaf? They never created an Album with such magic? How about every album with Tarja? Have you even listened to their older stuff?? Literally couldn't disagree more.

slow love slow so perfect, absolutely marvelous, romantic jazz noir song, when I listened to the album for the first time, I did not believe that it was nightwish, I thought that my playlist switched, what happened, I just could not believe that there is a real jazz song, real !!! MASTERPIECE!!! a true love story, I adore all the songs of this album but slow love slow, this is really a revolution, the nightwish for their careers had a lot of things in sound,orchestras, folk, choruses, gospel vocals, but not jazz with real trumpet solo at the end ... BRAVO!
i don't hate on her, but i just think her voice is not really suited for metal (i agree on jazz song, she was fantastic there). On metal songs what saves it is Marco or quire, her solo parts don't really hit it for me.
She is a great singer but i just think she needs another ganre of music, not Nightwish...

This album is soooo good. The compositions are breath-taking, and the song arrangement is pure perfection. From the cartoonish Storytime via the haunting Ghost River and the melancholic Slow, Love, Slow to the folk-sound of I Want My Tears Back that just makes you wanna dance. Then building up to the bombastic Rest Calm immediately followed by the camp-fire atmosphere of The Crow... Conclusion with the grand finale of Last Ride Of The Day, the epic Song Of Myself, and the instrumental outro of Imaginaerum. Tuomas Holopainen is a musical genius.
When I listen this album, I remember when I listened fear of the dark from Iron Maiden. Great album too! The atmosphere is fantastic! Tuomas did a fantastic job together with the band and Anette! I have to listen to all of them!

Years ago I was not very fond of Anette when she joined. But this has aged well, this album is amazing, a pity that I did not appreciate it enough when it was released.
I think it's because Anette sings her own songs beautifully, but could never sing Tarja's well enough. Her voice was just too different, so we did not appreciate her as much as we should have.
It's really the best Nightwish album.

Holy crap, "Slow Love Slow" is one of the best Nightwish songs! Really stands out. It's actuall a smooth jazz type of song.... Shows how talented Tuomas is.
Why does it seem like everyone gives Thomas credit but not Anette? She sung amazingly on that song.
Magnificent album, one of the best in my collection, if you can "feel" music this one takes you to another level even after so many years! Do I'm a great fan of Floor wich singing technique's are incomparible, this album is writen for Anette's voice. Composition, music, lyrics, arrangement..., it's all alive and present! Tuomas' (and all other bandmembers wich without it would never had risen to this level) inspiration, skill's and "imaginaerum" got this music elevated, to an undeniable hight! Bowing down I salute you all...
I used to jam this album on repeat. Haven’t listenedto them much after Annette left. “I Want My Tears Back” resonates with me even harder now than it did then.

I refused to listen to this album once it got released, mainly because I wasn't aware of how great the band and orchestra performed in this piece of art (Now, as you can see I just changed my mind, I actually love the whole album). Annette's voice fits so well to the atmosphere and lyrics of all the songs.
I was the same as you, I went to Best Buy precisely just to buy Sirenia's new album, I didn't find it, but i looked this one.

Não tem um mês sequer que eu não ouço esse álbum completamente desde o ano que saiu. Pra mim é o melhor e maior álbum do Nightwish. As letras, a melodia e a poesia desse álbum é incomparável. Algumas músicas dão uma vontade imensa de chorar de tão lindas e emocionantes que são.

Annete is amazing! I love when bands try different approach. This album is a masterpiece.
It was because of this album, I've been listening to it ever since it first came out, a month ago I read Walt Whitman's Song of Myself, and other selected pieces from his, Leaves of Grass. Thank you Nightwish.
Floor has a very impressive range and vocal capacities and I usually prefers her singing the Nightwish's songs from before she joined them (except for a few)...but I do prefer Anette for all the songs of Imaginaerum.
Like, her voice REALLY matches the spirit here, Floor's just doesn't seem...right.
This album, and a few songs from Dark Passion Play, are and will always belong to Anette in my heart (and my ears).
I`m a Floor addict but this album is from the `before Floor joined them`era........ great album, great music, beautifull production....... it fits perfectly, but not live........ I can`t imagine Anette singing this live.......... Floor may sound different but she is always in key.
If marko would be in the latest concerts it could make up the difference

A rocky Nightwish nemo... ugghh... Its suppost to be almost opera metal where Tarja. There are songs only Anette can do like storytime.

@@MikeAndersson but this is natural. Nemo will always be Tarja's song, period. Floor is simply awesome, and she does great in everything but even she is not perfect in any way. However I will never look back to Tarja's She is my sin - Floor stole that and she shines in this song. Same with Romanticide.

I kind of quit listening to Nightwis after Tarja left but this album is freakkin awesome!
A beautiful amalgamation of metal, classical music and film score themes. When I was a teenager I liked a band here in the UK called ELO (Electric Light Orchestra) who fused together their version of rock and orchestral music which was radical at the time and I loved it. Nightwish are something similar but much heavier which I love. And putting my two-pence worth into the vocalist discussions on this band, Anette sounds good here. I love Floor's take on the songs and her voice is fabulous but there's nothing wrong with Anette's singing. The only once of the three vocalists I don't care much for is Tarja; its her singing voice that for some reason grates on me.

Nightwish has sucha deep and brilliant layers in their song in lyrics, symbolic meanings, how they use the voice as instrument, composition of music, difference between their songs but still many are connected..
On themes in songs this is their greatest albums...but i believe they have several greatest albums...

Yeah. Anette received so much hate... always labeled as Tarja substitute... she was amazing... loved 'Dark Passion Play' back then... I don't understand why they discard the vocalists... I just hope the same doesn't happen to Floor...

I truly love this album; listening to it now. For me however, as a new NW fan, Floor's voice and stage presence in the live versions of songs from this album are always present at the background. I've also seen Anette live (on CZcams) and she cannot bring what Floor brings; my opinion ofcourse. But I think I will buy Imaginaerum and consider it as a great studio album.

Annette is by no means a bad singer. For jazz, she is supremo. For "evil", she's without parallel. Storytime with her is sinister. Under Floor, who is brilliant at many things (and probably solves fiendish quadratic equations whilst doing so), the song is more hopeful, an optimistic view of the fantastic, even though all that's changed is singing style. Neither is wrong, although the former is correct for the film. Annette has a superb sense of the theatric, as well.
In the same way Status Quo had a reunion of the old lineup without hurting the lineup of the time (proving it can be done and rifts healed), it might be nice if Nightwish could find a way. The reality is that it's unlikely. I know of no other example of anyone trying it. And Nightwish are likely too busy.

but i've really enjoyed NW through their entire journey with each singer, i'm hoping they can survive with Marko deciding to leave, i'm optimistic though now that Troy is becoming a much more central member of the band :D

Adding Troy, way back, with his eclectic traditional instruments and multilingual skills (I think all are polyglots, right?), was genius and, yes, will likely be a major factor in how Nightwish progresses.
