What's your favorite piece of gear in Kyle's setup?? Give Kyle a sub on his channel (link in description)
Gotta be that sweet Portico...
I really love the collection of mics!! I’m certainly not unique I’m my approach to the recording process when I say, it is my belief that every recording is only as good as the signal recorded and that being said mic. Selection and pre amp selection are the most critical aspects, in my opinion, when recording and love when I see people using mics that aren’t necessarily “the normal go to” mics, simply based on cost. Would love to get more in depth reviews of the NON-typical mic selections!!
I have an idea for future videos. Could include (with the permission of the artist of course) some music that they've worked on in the video. I hear all these mic names and can't really fathom what the range or use cases they'd be used in. That may be partially due to my own genre biases or simply that I'm a novice. Thoughts?
If you go and follow the people I feature in the videos you can find all of that. Kyle has a CZcams channel where he shows all of that stuff.
Coles for sure
This series is the only reason why Mondays are OK
haha thanks
Fo'real. Mondays suck otherwise.
This is a very well set up studio. I like the neutral décor and clean look of everything. It's a space that you can feel comfortable and create. Nice Job !
I totally agree!
I love how every single Monday I open CZcams and this the first video I see in my recommendations!❤
Andrew upping his YT game and getting smoother. All right all right, I subscribed.
Got an editor :)
@@AndrewMasters HEHEHEHE
Great Content as usual bro! Still love when you're behind the camera being our eyes! Plus, by doing it this way, it has now become YOUR style of doing home studio tours... which is some cool organic branding. Also what I noticed and liked, is that you kinda jumped right into it by asking Kyle things like "What audio interface are you using? What computer are you using, etc, etc." You was methodical and to the point in respect to the equipment int the room. You controlled the tempo of the tour as oppose to the convo going left and discussing things "non-studio tour'ish". I say this opinionated stuff lol.... only because your content is good and i want your channel to keep growing because it deserves to! Salute!
We love a good collection of BAE. ❤️
Me too!
I have the Neumann KH310s too... they are tight! Seriously, they have sealed cabinets which makes for the fastest transient response and are FAF! (flat as... ). Inspiring studio for sure!
Hard to beat!
I've been following Kyle for a couple years now. Great dude and very helpful with questions. Great to see his setup!
Thanks for watching, John!
Killer setup! Soo clean. I love that you drop these on Mondays.
wow! The layout seems very clean and open! Great looking home studio with tuns of great pre amps and mics!
I know I love the light feels as well
KYLE MAY IS THE MAN!!!!!
THANK YOU ZACH! 🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼
Very impressive! Great job :D
Agreed, love the light colors
I liked how clean and organized everything looked
Same!
Thanks! #cablemanagement
A perfect layout for the space
yes i was view 420. finally all of my dreams are coming true! thanks for doing this bud!
I love the amount of ribbon mics here.
Hard to beat good ribbons. Thanks!
Insane
I been searching CZcams for Studio setups for ideas and inspiration and, man, your channel is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Great videos and delivery. Subbed.
Love it! Thanks
Andrew is the best!

Brave Brave man jumping to that new MacBook 🤣 🤣
Ha! I know right. So far so good!

This looks awesome!!!!
“I’m not endorsed but will proudly endorse” is the story of my life lol
I feel this
I SMASHED the like button even before you told me to
YES
Brown-noser!
Gorgeous! My favourite piece is the desk haha I know sounds silly but that desk seems very comfortable, thin and big at the same time, seems very functional. Any chance to know what desk is it? Cheers Andrew, excellent content as usual 🤘🏻
Excellent! Thanks Felipe
I think it’s just an old musicians friend desk without the top rack attached!
@@kylewmay oh makes sense now, thanks Kyle! Cheers
Always look forward to Monday’s!! 🔥🔥
Thanks!
VU meters add great great style to the setup.
I agree!
Same here. Kensington on the right trackpad on the left.
yes!
Amazing drummer, he recorded my wife christian album and he is an amazing musician.
Yes! Thanks for watching!
What is a Christian album ?
@@PetraKann its a album that praises god instead of the agenda ;)
@@PetraKann
An album w Christian music? Just a guess. Blessings my friend.
What is it with these drummers and their kick ass studios? I’m a guitarist and all I have to say..... is.....
DDDDDAAAAAAMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!! RESPECT!!
Thank you!
In my experience, over the years it does seem that the drummers are the ones who wind up buying/ owning all the gear, as I too am a drummer and, yes I too have the studio and most of the gear!!
@@christopherjackson5696 I don’t why either, but it’s somehow our responsibility! I love it, though!
Gimme all those BAE pres :) another great video!
Right? Thanks dudeb
They freakin rock!!
@@kylewmay oh I know! I went all API with a few 1073eqs :)
I like this guy :) great studio and amazing gear.
Thanks so much!
great series
Thanks man!
The microphones on the drums can build a brand home studio...woiyeee
Took a long time to collect!
@@kylewmay bro, your studio is on another level...this is too epic. To be honest, I have a little home studio, but man, can u imagine I survive with an MXL 770 microphone Haha, my only interface is a MOTU M2. So try to imagine... I appreciate ya efforts bro
@@newmanh I’ve been there! I had a presonus and an AT3035. Just keep crushing it and collecting gear!
Actually the Presonus mic pres are really really good, if you want no tonal caracter from your pres. I'll put it on pair with the ISA.
You’re right! They’ve come a long way since I owned one 10 years ago.
The Telefunken M60 is such a cool mic.
No sm7b on the intro? This seems like a major life change for you
oh bro.. just wait. I'm working on a video talking about it.
@@AndrewMasters I've noticed that too. lewitt 440 right? Do you recomend those lewitt 440 mics as drum overheads?
Hi Andrew I like your videos very much.
Hey, thanks
He should totally move his monitors a foot off the wall (or more). He's got the room, It'd be great.
Yes! I did try that initially, but I liked the little extra bump of bass with them close to the wall. It's a nice and natural eq to the speakers without manipulating the low end with a db boost. I may go back to having them off the wall once I add some subs!
@@kylewmay Interesting that you like it! What frequencies are coming up? Are you taking measurements? That sounds pretty nice tbh. My room and my monitors when I had them that close to the wall bumped ~250-350 pretty bad, enough to make it muddy and tough to distinguish between frequencies. I have a wayyy smaller room than you, set up very wrong since I need to get a bed in it, but in trying to get a mixing space I've put some much effort into making what I've got as good as possible. Built my own panels quite similar to yours, even the color. Love your studio, dude. Especially as a drummer.
Comeon! so many knobs in the racks! Superbe!
#KnobCity! Thanks!
The room sounds good actually.
Andrew!!! Come to my home studio!! Im in charlotte NC! :)
I might take you up on that!
@@AndrewMasters message me on instagram. @ lukeicard
What a cliffhanger bro! How did the drums sound?
Def liked the drum mic setup and acoustic treatment... love some good sound panels!
Check out his channel he goes into it!
@@AndrewMasters right after I commented, I checked out a few vids... those toms are PHAT!
That’s a complex chain for drums. Where can I hear the results?
Check out his links in the description! Thanks for watching Jeff.
Can you please do a video about the best studio headphones under 200$
Check out Sanjay C's or Archie Beatz channel, they do a lot of the Best product under $____ videos.
Okay thanks
We've seen lots of worthless content, here ther's lots information... I think it's really on demand hitting the subscription!
Holy balls. He has a whole lab.
Yeah man, it's super slick
I have noticed in several of your recent videos that more of the studio owners are drummers and you ask them at the end of the video that you want them to play something and then cut to the end leaving us like minded drummers wanting to hear them as well!!!
How many others would like to hear some glimpses of the drums in action and possibly switch from camera mic. ( to hear the raw room sound ) and seamlessly cut to the sound being processed thru the mics./ pre amps. Etc.
Just a thought!!
Thanks for yet another great epic studio tour!!!
But seriously Andrew, us drummers want to hear too!!
I hear ya, but I think he purposely leaves the cliffhanger in hopes that you’d venture over to my channel to hear just exactly as you asked! 🥁🥁
Good googly moogly those are tight pants
My MC hammer pants were in the wash!
@@kylewmay lol nice 😆
Want to know about your new mic on ur table in place of ur sm7b
haha i'm glad people noticed! It's so good! Video coming soon.
@@AndrewMasters waiting for it
One day..
.... plus the lights look cool????
I think so!
Great room, great video, but without trying to be on the negative side, this 4:25 makes no sense to me at all from what I can see of the dimensions of the room, if anything you’re making your stereo image narrower because your mid and top speakers are pushed closer together and not at the edge where they would have room to travel, but then again, I can really tell without listening. Regardless, great stuff
He also placed the speakers more apart from each other and not in a equilateral triangle
Heard! Thanks for the note. It’s definitely something I had to hear first before committing to!
I checked your gear list, and couldn't find the Microphone cable that you are using in this video. Please share. Thank You
I’m not sure if this is a joke, but I’ll answer either way. The cable connect to the mic I made with Mogami wire and neutrik connectors
@@AndrewMasters I apologize if I came across as joking. The cable stood out, and I need to replace a microphone cable. Thanks for your response.
Is there insulation material inside the wall or its just the panels over non insulated wall??
No extra insulation. Just the acoustic treatment from the panels.
corpses in the walls
wow...Great content.
Thanks!
Liked, on this account ;)
Hey Kyle, what did you use to mount your overhead sound panels so close to the ceiling! My studio is in my basement and i can use as much head space as i can get. I LOVE the it looks. So professionally done... and clean!!
He mentions Webster and Mike made his panels. Is there a link to these?
How come you are using two pre-amps for the kick like that? Kick in, kick out? Doesn't each channel have an in and out?
Kick in mic, kick out mic. Two mics, two pres.
@@AndrewMasters Ohhhh Inside, outside!!... haha... errrr. Sometimes I'm slow. Thanks for responding!! yikes that's embarrassing, lol.
Kyle: I have the same Studio Trends 46" cherry desk, and am having a lot of trouble with the "modesty plate" vibrating; it sometimes sounds like the boomy bass sound at the end of Billie Eilish's "Bad Guy." Does it give you similar problems? I can't just remove the plate since it seems structurally important. (One difference in configurations is I have the rack part on top, which I noticed you left uninstalled.)
Hey! I just pulled up Bad Guy to listen and am not noticing any extra frequencies from that plate that you so diplomatically labeled the "modesty plate" hahaha. I actually have a power strip zip tied to mine along with about a dozen cables tied up on it. I'm also wondering if I'm not hearing it because of the concrete floor? probably too many variables to tell and so I'm sorry I can't help with your issue. My only advice would be to maybe glue some foam to it?? Let me know what you come up with!
Great setup and space. But why are the KH 310s flipped inward? I see no need with your current placement
It was an experiment that I ended up loving! Opened up the stereo field for me. Give it a try sometime!
Just asking, no bass traps in the corners and still seems to sound pretty good. How can it be?
Great question! The room is big enough where I’m actually using the speakers close to the wall to get some additional low end🤘🏼
@@kylewmay oh ok great! Thanks for the reply, love your room. Best regards.
You should offer your entire studio tour series as a download for $10. Imagine 1000 of us wanted to pay to have them so we could load them off a USB wherever we were, with or without an internet connection? $10,000 potential pay off for you. You deserve it and I would pay the $10 no question. :)
For those of us without his sort of setup - is it still possible to create professional radio ready mixes with modest gear, cheaper pre-amps and outboard?
Yes! I worked with focusrite interfaces and 57s for years with some hs8’s. It can be done!!
The position of monitorings isn't inversed?
Seemingly, but according to Neumann specs, there’s no official way for placement because their sweet spot design is so good! This is what worked for my room. Give it a try some time!
Why no body uses subwoofers? I hate it with out it.
I'm a big sub user as well. this hits home.
Not always necessary! If your room needs it, go for it!
The left side trackpad is great! Great for when you’re playing keyboard parts or enjoying porn.
What is the height of this room?
I think only 7ft, maybe an inch or two over.
@@kylewmay Thanks for the answer. Do you think it is possible to record full band in a room of this height?
@@maciejtreppa yes, potentially!
Where did you get those VU meters?
They’re from Coleman Audio. You can find them on their website, Sweetwater, or vintage king!
You've got your monitors in the wrong position, the tweeters are meant to be on the outside.
Seemingly, but there’s no right or wrong when you check out the Neumann specs for where the sweet spot is. Trying it in is this position made a big difference in the stereo field for my space!
Kyle addresses that question in the video.
EPIC REVERSED MONITORS. The left is right. The right is left side LOL
Dont u know Low freq are mid.
Give it a try!
It's an absolute shame you have amassed such an impressive (and expensive) collection of musical gear/recording equipment, *yet it is somehow incapable of producing sound* - let alone music... ☹
Totally
ya srsly
