Surprised you didn't mentioned that Ralf Scheepers was a Gamma Ray member before auditioning (and failing) for Judas Priest. For those who still lives under a rock, Gamma Ray was the band formed by Kai Hansen (THE power metal legend and another massive Judas Priest fan) after leaving Helloween. There are some songs by Gamma Ray that absolutely sounds like Judas Priest, like To The Metal (a Metal Gods rippoff tbh) or Solid (a Rapid Fire rippoff tbh). Also, Kai Hansen was a member of Iron Savior on their three first albums, including the one you published.
more surprising is Devin Townsend (on the trail of Vai's "Sex & Religion") being invited to audition to replace Halford and rejecting it. Halford and Townsend voices are miles away in my opinion...
SAINT - have ent listened to to them in two years or so. Those early albums are topnotch. Good memories. Halford’s voice - one of a kind. His lyrics were tremendous.
When I saw the title of the video, Primal Fear was the first band I thought of. Coincidentally, "Chainbreaker" was the song that immediately came to mind. Definitely one of my favorite Primal Fear songs, along with "Angel In Black" and "In Metal We Trust".
Cool to see Malice and Saint mentioned as they are very underrated bands. Primal Fear tries so hard that it almost come across as a parody. Exciter and Running Wild both have some songs that sound close to Priest and of course both bands are named after Priest songs.
Great video! Judas Priest has always been one of my favorite metal bands. I’d like to add Ария from USSR, and later Russia, as an honorable mention. They had more of an Iron Maiden sound, but were also heavily influenced by Judas Priest. And the artwork on their third album from 1987 looks like it could be a Judas Priest album.
@@RuthlessMetalYT Konsul the real "Soviet Priest" I can also remember the early Soviet band Kakadu (perhaps the first real heavy band in the USSR), which also had a noticeable Priest-ish sound.

Scheepers is really the only one that captures Rob's full midrange tone. Which to my ears is Halford's strongest gift. A lotta guys can do the screaming thing. Mid 70s early 80s Halford is phenomenally righteous.
I had totally forgotten about this album when "Coming Home" started playing and had to immediately go back and listen to it. Such a great album from start to finish.
Ive seen Saint 3 times in concert and met the vocalist and bass player. The guys are super down to earth. Ive been to the bass players house to drop off a couple things I made for him(fan stuff). He said that all the albums were recorded in one of the members house except for the drums and weren't part of any record label.

Priest's influence on Iron Savior is very latent, I'll mention a few songs here that I remember off the top of my head that have a very "Priest" sound: Solar Wings/ Firing the Guns / Protector / Wings of Deliverance / Machine World...

about 2 months ago I've listened Headhunter eponymous album. Guys from Switherland, who got Chris Von Rohr from Krokus as the producer and Peter Tanner on vocals (future singer of Krokus as well). Very simillar sound to Screamin' For Vengeance
Saint is a band really very similar to Judas Priest, Their first vocalist has a voice that reminds a lot of Rob Halford. It's worth listening to the song "7th trumpet", it reminds me a lot of painkiller
Good small cross section of Priest sounding bands. There are too many others to mention that also sound like Priest. hehe. cool. ;) Cheers!
I've seen Saint live back in the 80s. They're really really good. Time's End is a fantstic album. Vocally they are like priest but not as much musically, some, but they aren't trying to be a copy cat band. Time's End is not their debut. Their first album is Warriors of the Son. It's a strong debut!!
nice. :) Cheers!
There was a track on Transformers The Movie from '86 where a band called NRG did a song called "Instruments of Destruction" that was totally cool. Never found out if they had an album, but that intitial song made the Album worth buying.
Cheers
I have never heard of any of these bands. Thank you 😊
it's about time then. ;) Cheers!
@@RuthlessMetalYT You got me into Coroner too!
Malice's 1st, In The Beginning is pure Priest worship! The best imitation I've ever heard!

You forgot to pin this comment
they really do sound like them amazing
Cheerios! :)
That's awesome! Can you do a video about bands that sound like Iron Maiden?
That's the plan, sometime during this spring. :)
@@RuthlessMetalYT fuck yeah! Who are you gonna do next?
Maiden, but I've got a few other videos coming up first.
@@RuthlessMetalYT fuck yeah! I can't wait!
Hi buddy, i got another suggestion the Band "Brainstorm" A German Power Metal Band
yes, added them to the playlist.
Great list it was very informative
For me early Iced Earth until Ripper era had mostly of recent sound of JP from painkiller with american feeling and production
Other band could be Sex machineguns from Japan, their early albums had that powerful riffs with Judas mark
Greetings from mexico
Cheers!
In the days of tapes Malice was the A-side and the Hawaiien band Sarcred Rite - Is nothing sacred the B-side. The tape rarely left the player for weeks haha. The latter never popped up on the streaming services unfortunately.
nice!
Nice! Can you do "bands that sound like dissection's reinkaos"? Love that melodic death metal, but it have a unique style. Only found damnation army in the same style HAHAHA
dont think I've even heard it
@@RuthlessMetalYT never hearded dissection? Wow!
I bought that Saint album in college. Still own it, too. It ain't bad.
Cheers!
The second and third songs each reminded me of Ram It Down.
Cheers!
Running wild
Cheers!
Ram is such a amazing band! Have seen them counless of times on stage and never get tired of them. They should get the chance to be a opener for Iron Maiden or other big traditional bands.
its time! Cheers!
You can do a JP evolution video as they went from progressive rock to metal to heavy metal to speed metal and ironically is in a more Progressive/Heavy stage now.
we'll see what the future holds, no priest videos planner right now but you'll never know.Cheers!
Surprised Sanctuary wasn't mentioned especially the track Battle Angels so heavily inspired by Judas Priest could swear it was Rob Halford singing when its not
yes sir. cheerios!
Excellent.. JP !!
Cheers!
about 2 months ago I've listened Headhunter eponymous album. Guys from Switherland, who got Chris Von Rohr from Krokus as the producer and Peter Tanner on vocals (future singer of Krokus as well). Very simillar sound to Screamin' For Vengeance
Merry christmas! 🤘🎅🤘
3 inches of blood were like a Judas Priest and Iron Maiden brutal mix, highly reccomended. (Specially first two albums)
Cheers!
I went out of my way to see those guys whenever they were in town. They were criminally underrated.
Saint is a band really very similar to Judas Priest, Their first vocalist has a voice that reminds a lot of Rob Halford. It's worth listening to the song "7th trumpet", it reminds me a lot of painkiller
cheers!
Jävlar vad jag gillade Malice debutplatta när den kom ut. Den håller bra fortfarande ❤
klass blir aldrig omodernt! :) Skål!
Cage-Christhammer
Riot City- in the dark
3 Inches of Blood- Look Out
cheers!
Exciter👂

Good small cross section of Priest sounding bands. There are too many others to mention that also sound like Priest. I’ve been a Priest fan since the release of their 2nd album, Sad Wings of Destiny, in 76. The Ripper is the song that first hooked me on Priest. They are by far my favourite heavy metal band to this day. 👊🇨🇦
the same here.
I seriously expected Pantera’s Power Metal era make an appearance here. That album is straight up Judas Priest
yeah, there's a bit of that. unfortunately not on the playlist since that album aint on spotify.
Some stuff by Pretty Maids too, but especially some songs and moments, not the whole catalogue, as well as some Riot from the Thundersteel album!
yup on the playlist already. ;) Cheers!
