I hope you noticed the front blinker is wrong Facing the truck the top light blinks but on the left the bottom light blinks
You replaced the headlights. An you said save the old ones that is a good idea. But you never touch the bulb with your fingers the glass part. The oil on your fingers with make the bulb last maybe 2 weeks to a month. Never want to touch the new ones. Its best to put on a pair of gloves before to touch the glass part.
Yep, very true!
True for any Halogen bulb BTW not just headlights.
Thanks Bruce for getting back on the scania content
I love seeing that no time is wasted cleaning parts before reinstalling them. That's really cool
I hate how they just install everything without cleaning up any of the grime, dust and rust! They just don't care.
I agree with you to a certain point but there really isn't any point in cleaning it because they're only going to be cleaning one spot here one spot there. No sense in cleaning each little spot unless you take the whole thing apart and clean everything
Yeah, me too. If it were me, some brake cleaner, a wipe down with a rag, or blow off with an airline seems like the minimum that should be happening. I understand if it's precious time out when the truck should be hauling something maybe, but I'm not sure that's what's going on here. I dunno....
It's gonna get painted anyway
I work in industrial maintenance and we get our metric air line from our local hydraulic hose supplier but you can also get it from Grainger
He has just moved and started a new business venture so he is working and juggling CZcams at the same time, just be thankful we get what we do.
The white Scania really doesn't look that bad all things considered. Frame probably completely fine if you shotblast and repaint it, would just take a fair bit of time to do plus all of the disassembly and reassembly, but it would work more than fine if you're willing to go through with the resto job.
As far as the tyres go they're officially allowed to run 295/60 or 315/60 or 315/70 or 315/80 on the rear axles and 315/70 or 315/80 or 385/55 or 385/65 on the front steers (if I remember correctly). If it's on 385's the front wheels will be a 22.5x11.5 and the rears are 22.5x9. Whatever tyres you can get for that wheel size will probably work. It's not uncommon to run smaller tyres on lift axles though it depends on what you're doing and it looks better if you run same size IMO.
Are you sure you fitted the right studs on the front? The ones you fitted are so long that it's like they are for the rear axles with double rims fitted...
Exactly what I am thinking,.
Exactly true. The shorter orginal studs are the correct ones for front wheels. With theese; the AWESOME SCANIA -loge covers would have fitted -right off.
Also the rim cover accually has a use. Without that it's much easier to loose the bolt covers.
And not to RE-mount the cover over the left back cab air bag; was a mistake too. (Without that -the weather elements -will get mechanics and function rusted out ahead of time.
@@MrJonken70they needed longer studs for the aluminium wheels as they are thicker and the original studs are too short. I’m not sure if the longer ones are the correct ones though as they do seem a little too long.
More Scania content pls.
Next time you do one Bruce, before undoing anything, Jack the cab up enough so the front airbags are extended and before it lifts rears, then put wooden blocks behind the shocks between chassis and cab chassis, then left cab down on them, be easier mate. And while you’ve got that sway bar off, good idea to remove ac condenser and intercooler to clean out in between, as the crap builds up and reduces cooling.
The shock connector on the front is a hiem joint.
Heim joint
I would suggest to rebuild the White V8 Scania later for Shows and use the black one as Daily Truck or Workhorse
Glad to see you're back wrenching on the Scania. This is what we want, more Scania. From UK.
9:39 What I want to know is how come you didn't clean the parts up and put some paint on them cover up the rust
Those H4 (I believe they are H4) headlight bulbs, the glass shouldn't be touched by hand, for the grease on your hand will shorten the bulb's life. Or so they told me that. So I'm always very careful handling these halogen lights. Electrical adjustable headlights are a standard here in Europe. Just in case the nose is pointing higher than usual (because of load, trailer hitched, etc) and you might be blinding oncoming traffic.
Yes. oil and crap can create a HOTSPOT on the glass and then it will crack when the glass cools down unevenly..
never had problems handling them with my dirty fingers tho.
I've had a regular halogen bulb (G4, out of drop ceiling lights) explode on me... not fun having burning hot glass shards rain down on you. Ever since then i don't touch *any* halogen bulb by the glass anymore lol
Just a heads up on those headlights and fog lights Bruce:
Undo the sidelight / indicator unit and swing it out. That reveals screws for the headlight unit. Remove those and the headlight uniit swings inwards to the middle of the truck.
On the foglights undo the screws on the surrounding panel which are next to the steps, slide the panel off and then release the fog light unit which also swings inwards.
Oh and never ever touch the glass on light bulbs. And those front wheel studs are the wrong length. they should only be one or two threads longer than the sheelnut (lugnut?). Maybe they were for the rear twin wheels so check your other studs? Just guessing. If all the studs are the same length I would grind cut the front ones shorter and use the correct Scania wheel nut covers.
But you sure got the hang of changing cab suspension bushes now mate! Good job.
Just wonder why don’t you clean parts and locations before installing them back. I would even paint those adapters with black. ..Would last longer and look more neat.
i would clean and prime them. Since he will repaint it later
So love the Scania content as I know what they are capable of doing here in Australia. I get to see Scanias hauling B-Doubles up and down the Hume Highway as well as around the Shepparton area.
How common are Scanias and European trucks in general in Australia these days? I mean here in Sweden you would basically only see other trucks on shows and hardly even that.
@@hnorrstrom Scanias, Volvos, MANS, DAFS, Ivecos and Mercedes Benz are just as common on Australian roads alongside the American Kenworths, Macks and the Japanese Isuzus and UDs
@@hnorrstrom Scanias, Volvos, MANs, DAFs, Ivecos and Mercedes Benz are just as common as the "American" (Australian built for Australian conditions) Kenworths, Macks and the Japanese Isuzus, Mitsubishis and UDs.
@@kevkoala Interesting, thanks for the answer.
@@hnorrstrom It's the same in New Zealand.
The Euros are slowly taking over the American style trucks.
They are far more powerful, fuel efficient and comfortable.
Japanese trucks are the work horse, they'll likely never be replaced by euros.
Somehow this service work is painful to watch when there seems to be no thinking ahead.
Most led headlight bulbs are good 12 through 24 and some 36 v
Led ok if 24v it will do 12v,.But 12v wont do 24v,.
Most LED lights are 9-36v I put LED bulbs in the MAN truck I drive and they work fine
Thank you for not letting us wait for the part 2 :)
that black truck would shine like a new piano if you got it paint corrected and a nice wax. great vid, love the scanias!
You can probably order the correct airlines from mexico since they have scanias over there
& no ryan bruce is actually trying to save u from that tool box from falling on u
& yes stupidly it happened to me a wayyy long time ago
I am just guessing but I think you put rear studs in the front axle also when watching your videos I get the scent of the ER and a visit coming soon lol
For dubble tube dampers, as most of the scania dampers are. You need to pull them verticaly with the top up. When you extend them horisontaly as you do, they suck air into the inner chamber and loose all the damping force.
Btw I work at the Scania R&D with Ride Comfort and damper tuning.
Can't wait to see the Scania blue
I think you had done a great job putting your truck 🚚 back together Bruce keep up the good work bto..!!😊
You fitted the studs for the rear axle on the front. The original studs from the back can be put on the front for the alcoa’s
Just an advice. Never touch the H4 bulbs (Headlamps) with your bare fingers. You put greas on theme and they burn out faster.
The front is pushing down when the rear is coming up or left to right, corner to corner. Just like the shocks on everything else. You already knew the answer even though you didn't think of it.
You can get a three way valve here in Europe, to run civilised through the mufflers when youre tired, and blare straight out the side to let them know youre only 5 miles from home !
There's a Scana Dealer in Newark Nj it's Called Abreu Truck Service
Lake looks overworked and underpaid.
scania had a commercial back in the 90s that said "built to be repaired on the side of the road" and they even had there own fleet of repair vans that you could call.
Scania have an outlet in Toronto I believe Canada also a good place to get your metric airlines nuts and bolts. call bolt supply Canada.
Love your face you make my old ass laugh
You should put the wheel covers on and the nicer lug nut caps might fit
Keep up the great work Bruce
Glad you sorted that cab rollbar up front seen a couple fail with a expensive repair bill on the back end
IBruce , you possibly should consider cleaning some of that dirt and grime from those mounts to prevent friction and damage to the new bushings.
The lug nut covers should have fit if you got parts from Scania. is all your lug nuts the same length? i think the ones you put on is for the double wheel in the back or they sent you the wrong ones.
you should probably order some rolls of 6, 8 and 10mm rolls of airlines from Scania aswell if its hard to get over there. Greetings from Scania mechanic in Norway
Happy Birthday Ryan
keep the clips coming
Time for a Dealership maybe that would be awesome to see
Love your stuff, Bruce! Keep on keeping on big pimpin.
I'm pretty sure that the new longer studs they put on the front axle are for the rear axles, that's why they're too long.
And it's correct that 315/80-22,5's are what's supposed to be on rear axles on that truck. The 13R tires are heavy duty tires more meant to be on a dump truck that's mainly driven in a mining area, not on a highway truck.
My guess to why they've put on the 13R's is to get a little bit higher top-speed through the larger diameter of the tires, which would be illegal in Europe.
For those who doesn't know, semi-trucks in Europe are not allowed to go faster than maximum 90 km/h (80 km/h if it has a trailer hocked on to it).
I don't know how much speed you gain by putting on those 13R's, but let's say that they make the truck go 100km/h, but the speedometer will only register that you're doing 90km/h (or 89km/h that the electronic speed limiter usually is set on from factory).
This kids content is all over the place. Nothing is consistent.
He just posts content. He has no big goals to accomplish, definitely no stability. But, that is his thing. Good for him. I do feel bad for the kid workers he is dragging around with him.
Lol..he has no content..i cant believe Fitz is turning him loose on a rotator..thats frightening..i wouldn't let him fix my lawn mower
Its just so cool to see another side of the industry you guys and the laughs lol ❤
I've noticed the wheel hubs on European trucks are the same size as some of the shuttle and coach busses here in the US but our Semi truck hubs are smaller. Also the busses here use the European truck rims too..
Europe uses 6x 205 on Mercedes Sprinter vans and light agricultural trailers, 8x 275 on medium (distribution) trucks and agricultural tractors, 10x 335 on heavy trucks, 200+ hp agricultural tractors and agricultural trailers with 9 ton axle load and above. Then there is 8x 203 used for sub 100hp tractors, though it isnt used in trucks or trailers as far as i know.
All according to DIN standard.
@@SjanzoInteresting... Didn't know there was an actual standard to follow. How long has that been the case?
@@hnorrstrom at least since WW2. The Opel Blitz, Nazi Germanies most popular WW2 5 ton truck, also had 6x 205 pitch, so dismantled truck axles were used in agriculture for decades to come, as standard agri tires had the same pitch.
Y'all doing a great job
I knew you could do it! Those cab struts were worn slap up!
Waiting next part of this and feelings after test drive about Koni 😊
Love the sound from en engine of the black old scania! Was hoping that you ordered a nextgen, but instead you got parts from Scania, or maybe it will come a suprise? Kepp up the good work. Somehow you in en US will understand how good Scania are, and how much better it is then the US trucks 😁 Peace! //Long haul trucker from Swe
Hey Bruce we carry those airline fittings at my job at Grainger. I can help you out with getting you a bunch of those fittings.
bags just looks updated. should work as intended
Adjustable headlights are mandatory in Europe for cars and trucks.
Man, Lakes Kentucky waterfall, looks majestic af! 💪💪💪
This is turning out great! Cant wait to see the test drive with all the new stuff. Wheels look awesome, great choice to skip the stainless covers on these rims.
Hey Bruce.
Why not drop a Scania V8 into the heavy hauler Pete
you've got there on the scrap line? Instant $75K truck.
A powerful Scania V8 engine, gearbox -and drivechain in a Peterbuilt; would accually be freakin' sweet!
Usually i do not watch Bruces vids of the US-trucks. But THAT content i would certainly follow!!!
I think he was saying he was going to be taking the V8 out of the white Scania to go into the Peterbilt.
We need more Scania content!
You have an interesting idea of "calm and soothing music"!
Would love it if u gonna do the Holland style mod to ur black SCANIA
And stacks pipe is a way to go too
You left a black cover off on the driver's side rear
I eoolike to see more videos about you’re salvage truck salvage business
2 videos in a row!!??
You should fit the disc brakes to the black Scania.
In 1992 I was running Koni full suspension on my 1991 Eagle Talon TSI, great product !
Was running high 11's at Englishtown, NJ with the help of TurboTrix tuning, two years later dropped to low 10's thanks to Buschur. ❤ 4G63
Bruce can you use some grade a washers to space the wheel studs so you can you use those Fancy wheel nut covers
I've got koni shooks on my eighty four mustang stock
Had a Foghorn Leghorn moment 9:05 there Bruce 😂 good video
Gtr lighting ultra 2 are 24v compatible and they’re amazing bulbs
The airbags is the same…just a newer edition 👍(ref to digferent on the top)
Curious:
Why not wipe off all the loose, dusty surfacerust -on all the parts goin' back in? (Since the parts are alreday loosened -and available for this...)
Expectantly:
Really curious if Bruce got the eletronicly controlled (switch in the cab) exhaustdanper for this Scania. This is the function for running the REAL-roar of straight pipes -or normal scilent on Scania V8's. Guess we'll see -when Bruce and Co -gets busy with mounting the new pipes (stacks?)...
Rear wheel okt may be longer then front, check the different!
Talk to Scania in Sweden or your friend in Finland for your air Lines
Hey Bruce if you guys ever are up in Michigan I have 3 old tractors been sitting for over 10 yrs your welcome to come try to do a will it start on would be good content
U should try and turn that red freightliner into a cab over somehow. Slide the body forward.
I was wondering if those coneys were adjustable like mine from the 1984.Mustang, you're pushing all the way down and you'll feel it tight.Righty tiny clicks click's click's click click that has like three adjustments
Hello you have very nice garage there.
Drum brakes on the front axle, have not seen that for decades. The Scania I drove had disc brake on all axles, much safer. The small bulbs are for the switches and the dash.
Where are the safety glasses using the hammer on that rusty metal!!!!
In a swamp back in Florida would be my guess :D
Put bigger side pipes, will look way better on the Scania
Hey Bruce Brazil have scania too maybe easy to get parts.
Hey Bruce i think those longer studs you ordered are meant for dual mounted wheels so the originals that were there would have been good to go (i think you should put the short ones back). Atleast i havent used longer studs when i changed to aluminum wheels.
Don’t need longer studs On the frond, just the back. The covers Will fitt
Bruce, ask your Finnish friend maybe he will send you 2010+ scania xenon headlights. They sit 1:1 in front
Grainger carries metric air lines.
I don't think you need longer studs for the aluminum rims on Scania. But that's just a thought.
Hi Bruce. That music that you used is played by a you tuber in the uk called the professional strugler He is a mobile mechanic and it is a great channel to watch.
When are you coming to the uk.
I think the tires on the second axle should be 315/70/22,5
Really good content indeed. Keep going, love your Scania projects. I think you should build your Scania more like dutch old-school with fullstack-pipes and a proper taillightbar on top of the cabin and at the rearend, and a fullcovered catwalk.
Best regards from a Scaniadriver in Sweden.
The White one would be perfect for full show build sens engine is currently out and it would need relatively small amount of rust repair and full chassis repaint so Bruce wouldn't need to start taking black one to bits for full chassis paint.
Find a 164 580 engine to put in a peterbilt?
Or the white scania
How many of us backyard handy fellers understood how to fix something efficiently the first time. Piss off trolls. He's the one guy in north America working on a scania..... He's Doin alright..
Yes. There's prob 2 or 3 total in north America. You get my point poindexters
Hell yeah brother inlaw
I think you should check it out but i believe laeds will work with 24 volts. i believe they will work up to 48 volts??
Hey Bruce, why not fit the disc brake front axle on the black scania.
when will you take the black scania for a test drive?
you should straight pipe it bruce that would sound awsome
Like the love thins truck is given. And dont care about trucks. Good luck and hope every thing go fine.
While the white truck and griff are only rough around the edges (lots of surface rust and all the lines, connectors, brackets, hardware etc needing replaced) It would be a hellofa job to do it..
Though I think a nuts and bolts resto done over a year or more would actually go down really well for YT content, I'd also like to see you do some Scannia V8's swapped into like an F350 or some other pickup.. maybe for burnouts, maybe for a crazy street build.. it would be cool.
