Catching TONS Of Catfish Buried In The MUD

Have you ever seen catfish buried in the mud? They'll bury themselves in the mud and it can mean some REALLY TOUGH fishing. I headed out to chase after some blue catfish, we' had just come out of a cold front, there were bluebird skies, and the catfish were buried down in the mud (but I caught a ton of fish). In this week's video, I catch a bunch of blue catfish in shallow water and then go in-depth into catfish burying themselves in the mud including what conditions usually push them down into the mud, how to catch them when they do this, how to see them on sonar and the bait, tackle and rig adjustments you need to make.

Excellent video. When is the easiest time of the year to catch big numbers of blue and channel catfish up in really shallow water? I would assume in the spring between March and May because that's when most other fish species are up shallow spawning.

You can catch fish shallow all year

My last few times out on Worth, I think all the dang fish were belly down in muck....lots of bait fish, couldn't find any crappie stacked yet...water temp 45°.
