East 17 are still one of the most celebrated and successful boy bands of all time - having achieved 18 Top Twenty hits (including House Of Love, Deep and Christmas No.1 Stay Another Day) as well as four Top Ten albums and sales of over twenty million records The band were recently re-united under the auspices of principal songwriter Tony Mortimer who won an Ivor Novello Songwriter Award for Stay Another Day, the song he wrote for his brother Ollie who committed suicide. The current line-up includes original members Mortimer, John Hendy and Terry Coldwell.

it seems to me that most of the bands that once use to play dance music, or pop think now that becoming older this rock way of playing will put some refinement in their style, well it doesn't. Now East 17 it's no more what used to be...RIP E17 !

I think that 90s are becoming trendy now so it would make sense if you'd just be EAST17 we all knew and loved back then. There're too much of bands that sound like this song. Also, Brian belongs there, of course.
Dark light think second album after steam , really like all songs from this album. Favourite "Counting clouds" and "Friday Night"

I'm glad john and terry came to their senses and teamed up with tony, song could be better but its been a rollercoaster i'm sure. I hope they find their own unique sound.Boys maybe write songs about your life experiences more.stay another day for example massive hit still gets rinsed at xmas haha. and brian i think he would sound more suited to r&b i think he'll make an exellent solo artist in that genre all the best to all of you!!P.S Steam album was the 1st album i ever bought :D

@djlazerblue I moved to India for about 14 years and returned to America in the late 90s. East 17 were regular staples on MTV in India in the 90s. That's how I know them. Now that I am also an internet radio DJ (broadcasting worldwide) here in Chicago, I play their music to a predominantly American audience.

I've been a fan of E17 since 13 ..and still a fan at 38, whether Brian is with them or not. It would be great if Brian was back but these things happen. I think Tony has a bloody good voice. I've heard much much worse. If you don't like them anymore then don't listen ..simple.
Yes this is true. Brian has big troubles now and i dont see him ever wanting popstardem again. Tony is a talented songwriter and can sing a bit. The song counting clouds is really nicely sung. I think i originally commented that it would be better with brian singing but actually maybe not!. Brians best vocals were on the album resurrection and i often revisit those songs.

@djlazerblue Probably - but I really thought "Wild" was edgy in a good way. Ultimately whether or not they get big again comes to down to BBC radio 1 picking up the new track in the UK. Here in the US, they weren't even known in the 90s...we Americans are light years behind musically.

@djlazerblue it probably stood a better chance than this right? I mean, it all comes down to BBC Radio 1 warming up to the track. I haven't heard the whole track so it's tough for me to comment on whether or not it sounds dated. Just heard a clip from the Shepherd's Bush concert - and it wasn't a HQ one either.

I usually never comment on youtube, but i just have to say something here: guys, this is just ridiculous. How sad that you never managed to come back as a 4 piece with a proper production that suits you. East 17 weren't the same without Tony, but they are definitely not working without Brian and an up to date song & production. The pseudo-live thing here and the song that sounds like a lame average rock demo: i just don't believe that any of that will make anyone really happy.

awesome.. but I am just curious why they didn't decide to drop the name East 17 and go with a new name for the band? sure East 17 has a huge name, and a brand, but it also comes with a lot of baggage. A new name would of got the attention anyway, as Everyone would all be saying, ex east 17 etc, tony mortimer etc, blar blar, I mean it's not East 17, and E-17 was not east 17, east 17 was the 90's. I think they should of gone with a new name for their new image! new style, new style music, new name

It's a good song, but I'm afraid the East 17 name was absolutely crushed when that documentary aired on Channel 4 and the boys did that ill fated club tour. You guys would fair much better if you just dropped the East 17 name and rebranded.

Problem is with big bands is that the press will bring you down!!!! I know what Brian done was wrong! But in a real world what makes him different to any artist/person??? This song is weak and dose not have the bad boy edge they once had! I know times change..Hey child was good! Sorry guys i grew up playing your music and now i think its time you give up! :(
I don't mind this, but it's no Deep or Let It Rain. As far as ballsy goes, it's a bit too MOR for me.
Tony actually screwed all the members over, especially with this album as Terry Coldwell wrote half the songs on this Album.not proper e-17 stuff

naaaa, would never work... also if Brian joined it would just be old east 17, playing old songs, that wears off after awhile, they have a new sound, and Brian is more into RnB anyway.. we can't live in the past! revival shows ok.. but basing your whole show on who they once were.. would never work.. they have a new sound now. which is cool
