  • Speaker: Lawson Osteen, Park Ranger, Eno River State Park
Join the North Carolina Museum of History as we celebrate Earth Day by welcoming Park Ranger Lawson Osteen, who will share how the Eno River State Park came to be! In the 1960s, the City of Durham was planning for the future and needed a new water source. With the idea of flooding the Eno River Valley to create a reservoir, Durham met resistance from those who lived along the river. Margaret Nygard and other community members formed what is now known as the Eno River Association to help preserve the beauty and biology of the river that is now Eno River State Park!
