- US comedy rock band Tenacious D has sensationally cancelled their Australian tour amid conservative backlash to an off-hand joke about the Trump assassination attempt.
On Sunday night in Sydney, band member Kyle Gass was presented a birthday cake and made a wish, telling the 9,000 strong crowd "don't miss Trump next time."
That seemingly innocuous quip has left the band in tatters. The group abruptly cancelled the remainder of their Australian tour, with Jack Black posting that all further creative plans for the group are "on hold."

Here in America, we value our 1st Amendment to our Constitution. However, anyone who knows anything about freedom of speech knows there are consequences to your words and actions. Tenacious D will be an example now of this very premise. 🇺🇸

Thousands of people have requested there refund for their Australian and New Zealand tours. So much so it wasn’t even worth completing the remainder of the tour. Followed all of that was a fallen out between the two buddies and the back ground. It was actually a skit they were doing on stage for Kyle‘s birthday, Kyle was supposed to wish for something that that robot can do. But instead, he “improvised off skit” and this is the result
