- #stevebrownsoundguitar @SteveBrownROCKS I made this last week and wasn't planing on showing this video but kept it just in case something like this would happen. As per my video I sent back this defective/damaged guitar and don't want a replacement so Guitar Fetish is deducting shipping cost both ways but it's been days since I'v got an email about my refund, how much and when? Since they don't answer the phone that's disconnected anyway they sure take their time getting back to a customer. So yeah I'm pissed I pay for all the guitars on my channel, nothing is given to me. My last video with a defective/damaged guitar got 3.6K views so that's 3.6K people that did not buy that guitar and they are not as popular as they once were! Your seeing this now because I'm still waiting for my refund, they are quick to take your money but slow to give it back!!! I think Steve Brown should have went with Thomann's and had them made a signature guitar with Stainless Steel Jumbo Frets like GuitarMax did!!!
#beaniefromthebedroom #onetakebeanie #SBSguitarfetish @SteveBrownROCKS @beannie60 Guitar's from Guitar Fetish it's all about the Money$$$! FIRST, I'm sorry about that sound quality I had to delete some videos because of that but I already made this the day I got it and returned it the next day so this is the only video I have on it. For now on I will plug in a mic when I speak. SECOND, I will stop replying to those that are saying " what do you expect for a cheap guitar, buy a big brand name like Gibson or Fender"! No matter what you pay for a New guitar it should be Good PERIOD. Because I have IYV and EART guitars from Amazon along with Harley Benton guitars from Thomann USA that blows this brand out of the water with Stainless Steel medium or jumbo Frets with NO issues! I had them all and I will no longer overpay for a guitar, but you can! Thanks!

@@Ottophil This comment coming from someone with NO content on your channel at all, ha! Do you even read your own comments before you post them? Besides sounding foolish and knowing nothing about those guitars you also talk crap about a so-called "buddy" of your's, wow some friend! While owning 1/2 dozen "imports" your self you sound a bit hypocritical don't you think. And if you can't install a motor in a car you shouldn't drive it, that equivalent to your soldering comment! And I have videos on brand name over priced guitar but you'd rather troll me with your nonsensical remarks, is that what makes your day? And I had a dog named Otto until the day he snapped, something in his head made him crazy made, I miss that dog but I wont miss you and you'v left previous derogatory comments before so piss off!
@beannie60 I get where you are coming from about the cost of a guitar whether budget friendly or not should at the very least be serviceable. Blemishes are to a degree expected but having a slew of electrical issues and extremely poor manufacturing issues in the form of routing and appropriate mounting of hardware and accessories not matching that hardware is truly unacceptable.
I have a Harley Benton T-Style that costs 125 bucks that looks amazing, needed minor intonation adjustments, and while they were properly wired in and serviceable, I changed the Roswell humbuckers out for some Duncan's I had kicking around. It plays absolutely phenomenally, and sounds equally as good as it plays and looks. In all fairness I had zero expectations as my brother sent it to me as a BD gift, but surprisingly it is an attractive instrument with excellent bones to build upon.
I had been considering an SBS but have seen several reviewers say that their experience has been less than favorable given the price point and quality of craftsmanship when compared to offerings from EART and Harley Benton in the same and even lower price point.
After the number of negative experiences I am very hesitant to want to do any business with Guitar Fetish at all. I had been considering an Earl Slick model also and at this point decided to save myself any aggravation and avoid all things GFS.
I work in guitar retail and can say this If you are on a budget and want to get a decent base upon which to build a custom shredder as you go, for around the 400 dollar mark you can get a Larry Carlton S3, a Jackson X-series Dinky, or even a RG series Ibanez. I still think that you get better stock appointments like stainless frets, modern body heel contours, compound radius fret boards and so on from an EART, Harley Benton, or Sire than you do the Premium name brand instruments in these price ranges. Thanks for the brutally honest account of your experience, it is important that consumer minded audiences be able to see the good, the bad, and the ugly concerning items of interest.
@@killacoiler1707 THANK YOU!
@@beannie60 you are welcome. Do yourself a favor and don't change the level of honesty you use in reviewing a product. I think that the problem most social media influencers have is a lack of true transparency and it is hard to respect someone whose opinion is for sale.
You sir have earned my respect because not only were you honest about the flaws with the instrument but also about how disappointing your experience with customer support was. People can at least know what to expect if they choose to do business with this company and not get blindsided.
@@killacoiler1707 👍thanks again, I really do appreciate it!
Man I was so close to pulling the trigger and buying one of these. I was quite excited about it. Anybody saying that for $350 you shouldn't complain about quality issues is full of sh**. When youre buying something brand new, it should work and have the proper working parts...period.
Yes Yes Yes! Thank you! Their are some people saying I shouldn't complain at that price or they are saying "what do you expect for a $400 guitar" . So thank you for that!
True
I ordered the Purple one and it was great out of the box. Decided to get a white one based on my positive experience with the first one. The white one had issues. The neck pickup had less than half the output of the purple one and was not wired correctly or damaged. The Floyd cavity was not painted black and there were some buzzing on the frets. Now the Floyd route not painted It’s not a big deal, but it just looked like this guitar did not get the love it deserved at the factory. So while I wanted to do an exchange, they had no more left. So I decided to do the return. I did email the rep I was dealing with once it was delivered and I was refunded the same day. They did offer to repair the guitar for free and offered me free shipping back if I decided to do so, but I decided to just wait for the next batch. So overall, I did have a positive experience with Guitar Fetish.
That's great! Mine however should never have been sent out. Thanks!
Sorry you had a bad experience. I bought one as a parts guitar, I ended up leaving everything as is. Plays great for me. Hopefully you’ll have a better experience next time. Great video and all valid and well explained issues. Thank you. Keep doing your videos. Much can be learned here.
Thank you very much! I got a lot of heat from this video, but there will be no next time with Guitar Fetish for me. I’ll stick with Harley Benton.
I hear what you're saying. But shouldn't guitarists that are into buying inexpensive import guitars at least have a solder iron and some heat shrink tubes?
I'm just a player not a Luthier not a Technician not a pro just a guy that likes to play guitar 😃.
And if I buy and an expensive car should I also be a mechanic and know how to fix everything on it??? Right!
Dude, it’s a piece of wood with magnets and wires. Not a fraction the complexity any vehicle maintenance would require.
Learning how to work on guitars is literally just watching a few CZcams videos and it’ll save you a ton of money. You had a great candidate to hone your skills. It’s not like going to mechanics school to learn how to work on todays vehicles.
For what it’s worth, I received a 1200$ Charvel from Sweetwater that was not only unplayable in setup, but the frets were bad and the neck wasn’t even fully screwed to the body! There were other issues as well. Sweetwater comped the bill for my luthier and now it’s my favorite guitar. These QC issues from companies who supposedly check every guitar before they go out the door is becoming prevalent.
one would think so but not always, I purchase a budget I expect the worst for sure, generally I am wildly surprised, specially the Earts .. a resale on a budget.. dood man, he is somewhat clueless about all this or so it seems? he's got stories that's for sure... he looks like the dood that works the muppets on that show... in any event its not rocket science its a fuggen guitar FCS.. deal with it! clearly he expects perfection for very little money, imagine if he were to review a brand new gibby or fenner? lololololololo GLUE DOOD GLUE!!
Did you ever find the little hex screw on the floyd rose you tighten up for the arm to stay in? I have several guitars with that setup and they are all lose like that until you adjust the little tiny hex screw.
It was the wrong arm all together. Thanks though!
@@beannie60 Ah that sucks. I have a Schecter E-1 FR S that came with the push in trem and I went through the same thing, the bar kept coming out, and unless you look hard you'd never notice the hex screw. Anyway sorry about your bad experience
Very interesting. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for your comment!
Your complaints are legit my friend. Thanks for the heads up....
Thank you for the only nice comment so far 😀.
Thank you for putting out this video. I have been seriously contemplating purchasing one of these guitars but was wanting to see more videos before doing so. My first hint that I should wait was when guitar max pushed the Harley Benton signature at the end of his video. I don’t expect to get top shelf guitar but I do expect quality craftsmanship. Cheap parts can be replaced but cmon people wire it correctly etc. I will not entertaining the idea of an SBS Guitar now. Thank You !
Your welcome! You might want to look at the Harley Benton with a Floyd.
@@beannie60 I have looked at them. I play mainly Kramer and you can see them on my channel. When I see something that looks like it came from the 80’s it catches my eye and I am always looking for a killer deal but ……. Yes I have G A S. Gear accusation syndrome.
@@herboffiresidestudio9053 I will check it out!
You could put the eraser of a pencil in your whammy bar hole and it will tighten up. You would have to grind it down slightly with a file though. I did it with a fake shecter i bought and it worked pretty well
Been wanting one. Not so sure now. Thanks for all the details.
Now other people are saying bad things about SBS Guitars, so I’m not alone. However I think it’s the roll of the dice if you really want one and don’t mind taking the risk then get one, just know that they will deduct the cost of shipping both ways from your refund as long as you ask for a shipping label from them ! Thanks for your comment!
Right and even expensive guitars can have issues. I think for $379 it’s worth the risk!!
@@edlicari3909 I agree
i like your content. i really do. i've watched a number of videos, and check them out any time they're suggested to me. Please figure out a solution to your audio. i can hear your guitars just fine, but i struggle to hear a word you speak without headphones on, and at a high level. your voice is very quiet in the mixes, and that bums me out, because i feel like you have a great deal of information to share.
Yes I'm sorry about that I had to delete some videos because of that but I already made this the day I got it and returned it the next day so this is the only video I have on. Now on I will plug in a mic when I speak.
So you were expecting a Ferrari at a Fiero price?
😃But I expect it to be as good as a Harley Benton guitar!
Why you knocking Fiero’s, bruh!?
Nice video! GuitarFetish is pretty well known for having QC issues. Some are great, some not so much.
Thank you for your comment!!!👍
I snagged a slick P bass about a month ago on a holiday saw for 220 after shipping. All it needs is a neck shim, or the 19th fret to be filed down a touch. Sorry to hear you had a worse experience on one of thier most expensive products where as I had normal 200 dollar guitar problems.
That's great and thank you for your support! The Slick guitar I had was fine I just didn't like the sound and to install a complete set of pu's was to much$$$. And I remember having the shipping both ways deductive from my refund but that was on me.
you're welcome! I do not think the price of pickups matters if one loves their guitar. once I get better, I am gonna save up to put the Geezer Butler pickup in my SLPB. I am sad they wont reduce or compensate you for shipping. Was the Slick you didn't like one w/ single coils? I may snag a sl54 or an sl57 on the next holiday sale w/ stacking coupons so I can have a 3rd guitar out for when my friends who play come over. @@beannie60
I hate that crap you can never talk to a real person anywhere. That’s how they avoid you and overlook everything. All they do is hide in the background..
Yes and it is aggravating to no end especially when you’re in fear of getting ripped off and not getting a refund at all! Thanks for your comment!
@@beannie60 i hear you..I don’t care what country they are made in, they need to be shipped to SBS USA factory/shop …and everyone of them needs to be checked over.. And completely set up before shipped to the consumer’s..
I have Slick Strat with no issues and was thinking of grabbing one of those. If you do a few searches, this man is not the only one with build quality issues. Thanks for providing valuable info.
Your welcome!👍Thanks!
Sorry for the bad experience with your new guitar from GF. I always hold my breath whenever I order anything online. I hate having to return things.
It's always a risk/chance but when they have a poor return police that you learn after the fact, well...
@@beannie60 That's a big part of why Amazon is so successful. Easy returns. Hope you get all of your money back soon.
@@beannie60 The other issue you have with them is they take forever to respond when you have issues if they respond at all.
I was actually considering buying one of these. I’m glad I didn’t and ended up going with something else. Sorry for your bad experience.
Thanks !✌🏼
I never understood buying pre-fab beat up guitars that are all identical. I honestly cant believe people buy CS fenders for 10k that are "reliced".
I agree 100% I try and stay away from such nonsense. And why buy a guitar that they sell all beat up???
I mean, you did lol
First review to come up, amd saved me the troubke of taking a chance. Too bad they're not legit. Thanks for the PSA. And no return shipping on a faulty guitar?...please.
Exactly!
wow, good report. I looked at these but I could not use a 12" radius fat neck:)
Thanks ✌️
Glad you tell it like it is, man. Guitars like these are a crap shoot. I got a green one and other than adjusting the action a bit it needed nothing. I have about 25 high-end Japan-made Ibanez, Jackson, ESP's etc and bought the SBS as a "beater" that I wouldn't care about scratching. I can't stop playing mine; it's that good. So sorry that you had a bad experience, and the lack of customer service is inexcusable. Thanks for being someone who, despite your bummer of a purchase, will post a video saying "be careful"...
Your welcome and thank you for your comment! Next time look into the Harley Benton guitars from Thomann’s, you’ll get something better than a beater 😎.
@@beannie60 shipping from thomann is expensive as heck!!! sometimes a beater is what you want- I built a partscaster with xgp body from guitarfetish and a mighty mite neck. if i play it and it gets wear or ding it would bother me less than on a gibson
Great Video.
Thanks for making it.
I almost got one. But saw another video a week ago.
Then yours now.
And you were through.
Greatly appreciated sir.
Thank you!
I’m having a totally different issue with them I ordered a sbs guitar but I had to leave for an extended period of time for work on short notice. So I contacted them to cancel the order they got the email, then proceeded to process the order anyway.
Then I got another email saying they were working on fixing the issue. Then my order sat in the warehouse for 2 days and got sent out anyway. I had no choice to file a dispute with my cc company. It’s like customer service is just one part time guy that tells you whatever you want to hear then does nothing.
Yup exactly! They have the worst customer service for an online company. Thanks ✌️!
The SBS series has been a mixed bag, so I haven't pulled the trigger- A lot of folks use it for a project guitar, but I've seen quite a few reviews like yours, citing major QC issues. I think if I was building a super strat, I'd go for one of the Slick strats- that "barn door" look appeals to me better than the phony relic job on these.
I also had a Slick Strat, it was nice I just didn't like the pickups at all and didn't want to replace them at that time.
I was looking at those guitars about 2 weeks ago.
It was all looking good but after I kept reading all of the specs and saw, it didn’t have stainless steel frets, that ended it for me.
I’ve noticed some guitar brands, will name every guitar part but when it comes to the frets, they never say what they’re made of.
I take that as they’re not stainless steel.
I’ve gotten to the point, where, if I’m looking at a guitar, that’s the first thing, I’m going to check.
Then I won’t be wasting my time.
I’m done with nickel frets, never buying another guitar, with those.
I hear you and agree I'm spoiled with guitars having SS-Frets now and that's all that I want as well and when I do buy one without SS/F's I'm not that keen about the guitar only for that reason unless it's really nice & expensive!
from my understanding the hole cavity of the pots should be shielded to prevent buzz isolating it
Correct they all should be shielded even the cove plates. Thanks!
I think it's more of an issue from imports coming over and not checked by the company than anything else. I got a Xavier Tele from GF that was flawless and in the same period of time got a PRS Se that was 1k and has a ton of fit and finish issues. I think this stuff comes over from the Far East and then ships out to the stores. Then we buy it and it ships to us all while not being checked once. I know some places like sweetwater check every item they sell before it is shipped but that's not the case with many places. Still nothing beats buying a guitar in a store that you try out from a Mom and Pop store that usually set the guitar up before it's sold. It's amazing that instrument stores don't do what a car dealer does before you take possession of the vehicle. All these instruments need a once over but that will never happen. This happens with all Guitars. All brands not just the cheap ones. I saw a youtuber list issues on a Core PRS that sells for thousands. It's nice to see reviews like this.
Yes but the thing is that stores don't carry these guitar. Thanks!
In about 1992 my Father purchased me a Westone Spectrum LX (198mbk) & it played perfectly! It always kept perfect tune always! The funny thing is, it tickled my throat & made me cough when I was jamming! The harmonics were on point! I always kept it in its original case & was in mint condition when in 2013 everything was taken away from me/ house stolen with everything we owned! 22 guitars, one of the first five Steinway & Sons pianos ever made, which all shipped out in one truck in the 1890's, five amps, the list goes on! Money, I lost everything & I am trying to find another guitar that holds perfect tune. I commented on Guitar max video about the SBS guitars & I asked, If he could only choose 1 guitar between the sbs guitars & AIO WOLF S-1 HSH Floyd rose electric guitar- trans black-$579.00 more then likely, it prob doesn't come with a case. Do u have any experience with a AIO s-1? I personally have had bad experienced with guitars without a locking tremelow.
Sorry but I don't know about the "AIO s-1" and I feel the same way about locking trem's for better turning. And although I'm complaining about my SBS guitar mostly because mine was a LEMON & the CS was shit I think you would appreciate a Harley Benton with a Floyd from Thomann USA and Guitar Max has a great sig/model for $400+.
should get some extra jumbo frets and a hard tail.
Is that neck actually roasted maple? On their website it was listed as "stained", which already rung several alarm bells for me. And that wiring is just a hot mess. This is why every CZcams reviewer should always show the inside of instruments and amps to show their true build quality. So much bad stuff is hidden behind a pretty facade.
It dose say Roasted neck on the website but it also says "Genuine Floyd Rose Tremolos" when it has a "GF" logo on the tremolo that I showed in my video, also it says "22 Hand Dressed Medium Jumbo Frets" and that's not trure! Thanks for your comment!
Mine has been great sorry to hear about your experience. Sounds like you got a lemon.
That I did! But it's their customer service and deducting shipping both ways for a defective/damaged guitar is what mashes my taters!
Ok, I actually bought the very model you reviewed, & at first I thought this was just going to be a gripe video..... But some of these issues you mentioned are legitimate! I'm sorry yours was a dud. I'm sure that if I really looked at mine closely, I could find some cosmetic dings. Those don't concern me, but the wiring & wood splitting does! Not good. I had to give your video a like. I wish you could've gotten one a little more like mine. 😞
Me to 😀 the negative comments or should I say the ration of shit I got for this video just to let people know about this guitar was just crazy. I glad you got a good one! Thanks for your comment!
Just put little spring between arm, bar and Floyd Rose pocket. greetings from Serbia all the best sir
Thanks!
It's sad that I've gotten higher quality guitars from Amazon than this SBS brand which is created and endorsed by a guy who used to perform, made albums and rode the crest of a wave with Trixter in the 90's.
@@bloodguts6786 👍🏼
How much was the guitar?
Guitar $379 case $79 shipping with insurance $19 total with tax $511. The case was nice 👍!
Tip for anyone with a loose Floyd type bar with too much slop is to cut down a small spring (from a cheap retractable pen or something) and pop it in the bottom.
On a budget guitar, I'd class it as a niggle.
You shouldn't really have to put up with it, but it's a cheap and easy fix.
I have however, experienced this on £500-£1000 guitars such as the Ibanez Premium range, which is unforgivable.
Yes that's well known because lots of people would lose the spring that's why Fender would have a little round green tape over the arm-hole. My guitar came with the wrong arm for another type of Floyd. That's why I like screw-on bars with the coupling so I can keep it tight, even the push-in with the little Allen key screws sometimes don't hold well. Thanks!
I've actually been looking at these.
But after watching your video I'm thinking I probably wouldn't buy one. Don't worry about nitpicking I'm the same way I just sent back two different Ibanez 670s because the there was dye all over the binding on the headstock and tooling marks all over it. It shouldn't matter what it cost when something is new it should be in good condition and proper working order when you get it whether it's $5 or $5000. It's a shame because you're pretty Good looking guitars but it's hard to find anything nowadays that isn't built like shit.
Thank you for your comment I appreciate your support because I got a lot of people saying what do you expect for a $300 guitar but you get it have a great day!✌️
I've always wondered about their guitars. I've bought many parts from them and some did have issues. Guitars are like cars, you gotta try it before you buy it.
Right! I'm not saying all the Guitar Fetish SBS guitars are crap, just the one I got, but to have to fight to get a refund for a damaged guitar then have the shipping cost "both ways" removed from my refund is total B.S.! And because of my video they lost thousands of customers! Thanks for your comment!
That is a great template to mod the piss out of….
😄
No shielding at all in the cavity means there won't be any under the pickups. Many have covered this guitar on CZcams, and it sounds great. Harley Benton guitars from Thomann are much better with QC, construction and shipping. GF says they check every guitar they sell before shipping. Please note SLick guitars are shielded and very clean in the cavity. Guitar Fetish gives store credit only so choose wisely.
I finally got my refund minus the price of shipping both ways, that is B.S. I can understand if I just didn't like it, not because it was crap. Thanks for your comment!
Mine had very bad quality issues that should not be there regardless of the price. My bridge was off center of the body and the low E was hanging off the fretboard. Shouldn’t happen on any guitar regardless of the price.
Yes 👍 100%! My Harley Benton SC SGT guitar for $119 is better than GF SBS all day long!
Whew I was gonna pull the trigger. My only grip was awful paint job looks horrible. But now see this no med jumbo frets. Spaghetti wiring job bad routing no quality control. No way I buying this now thanks for detailed review!
Thank you for your comment!
Doesn’t the Charvel come with jumbo frets?
Medium Jumbo.
Years ago I decided new or used if I saw a guitar I wanted I would add $200 mentally to the price and then say to myself if I wanted it. I also would in many cases go from the point of my purchase to my tech. He new to find and fix every issue.
With just a few exceptions I by used. The older the better. A 10 year old guitar with a reasonable finish and a good fit means the wood has dried and any nightmare things are exposed or likely to never happen. My guitars are pretty much all brand names and play beautifully once I am finished.
Yes I agree but this one was way past that point.
messed up that they wont refund shipping when its defects on their end
I know it's Crazy!
I almost pulled the trigger on one of these guitars the other day because they look good and are cheap. Seeing this video made me reconsider. Thanks buddy!!! Nothing worse then buying a guitar sight unseen and you get a lemon!!!
Yes thanks that’s the risk you take when buying online.✌️
that guitar is badass i'm definitely buying one now and i like medium frets too can play faster. amazing
👍🏼
A 5a roasted maple neck is usually like 350 to 550 depending on the cut and quality. You got a whole guitar for less than that.
It's not the price it's the quality! This doesn't happen with Thomann's Harley Benton Guitars!
Unless I’m wrong with that particular charvel you showed, charvel has always used jumbo frets so you wouldn’t be able to compare medium frets to jumbo frets and think they are supposed to be the same size
👍
I've had a SBS VS200 since July. Absolutely loved it. Played it every day since I've had it. Until yesterday. Played perfectly fine Saturday. Yesterday, plugged it in, and nothing. Neither pick up works. Not bridge, not neck, not in the middle. Amp clean, no noise at all. WIth distortion, just static and very low volume. I've owned 55 guitars and have never had anything like this happen. I've e-mailed Guitar Fetish. Waiting to see what/if they respond. I don't really want to pay shipping to get it back to them. Sure, they say they'll "reimburse" it, but it's a big chunk of money with shipping costs these days. Might just be easier/cheaper to take to a shop to have them fix it. I loved this guitar, but this experience has really soured it. Sorry if this is off topic, but it's the only place I found to share about these guitars issues.
That's fine I understand! Good luck with your warranty issue from GF, and if your past the return date you might just get store credit if anything. If they send you a free return shipping label to have it fixed that would be great! If not maybe they can refund you some money off and take it to a tech to fix it? And don't be surprised if you get hater's saying "what did you expect that's what you get for a cheap no name guitar made from a slave labor country" because I what I had to deal with it on this video. Good luck to you!
Ground wire come loose?

To those of you who say you wouldn't buy a guitar without stainless steel frets, I've got some news for you. I recently ordered an eart guitar from Amazon which supposedly has stainless steel threats, but some of the front ends were not seated properly. So I used a fret hammer to tap them back into place and they dented. This means they're either not actually stainless steel, or it's a very low grade of stainless steel which is probably not much better than nickel steel frets, or possibly even worse.
I don't like the sound of stainless steel nuts, I don't like the sound of stainless steel bridge saddles, and I'm pretty sure that I don't care for the sound of stainless steel frets either. They just get too bright and pingy.
I got a green Ms 260 and was awesome.
That's great!
@@beannie60 I never had any problems, only the trem bar was a bit loose. But i fixed that. A really good guitar

ok these guitars are made to mod the floyd rose is a decent bridge he just bought new saddles for it now about the crack in the control cavity in the wood that is an issue and i would be not happy but i would ask for a discount and the jack plate that isn’t acceptable but i again i would have fixed it
i know you nitpick your guitars and that’s ok it’s fine and for the price point it’s not a bad deal but please don’t tell people not to buy this guitar just because you had a bad experience with 1 or 2 every guitar manufacture is goin to have a flaw like gibson for one firefly is another one they have a lot of flaws but not all of the fireflys do i have one an elite custom that i bought before i joined the Facebook fanpage got it for $200.00 and it’s a decent guitar it needs a good setup which i can’t do here where i live the SBS guitars are good guitars even the pickups i bought a pair of the arena rock alnico V bridge and neck set i’m happy with i put the bridge in my monoprice guitar and it sounds awesome
I don't want to go though that time and money on a guitar even if it is cheap, the only thing I'm willing to do is change the pickups and tuners. Thank for your comment!
This looks like a budget version of the one FU-tone that Steve demonstrated. Seems like whomever the owner is wants to sell this whole expensive guitar for almost nothing vibe. Their pickups that I've tried are pretty good though.
I know of that FU Tone video as well. I think Steve Brown would have been better of going to Thomann and had a Harley Benton signature guitar made like Maxwell did!
There is paint missing too!
Beauty is only skin deep. This guitar is a good case in point.

@@beannie60 ...your customer service comments are a concern...no reason for crappy cs.
@@sb6232 Sadly enough I will never buy another thing from GF. ✌️
The person below said spot on as probably the most honest review of Sbs guitars on YT
Thank you!
Sorry you had a bad experience with GF. I've talked with some other people that say their acoustics are pretty bad too. Speaking for myself, I've had very good luck with the GFS pickups. Having said that, I wouldn't buy any guitar from anyone that wasn't a legit Fender or Squier, even the imports. I also could not own a guitar with a Floyd. I'm happy for Butt Rockers that can make them work, but I'm a pathetic hipster and I have to roll with vintage trems LOL.
I used to be a big time Floyd guy until now, I can take it or leave it. Thanks for your comment!
Is that a Greeny behind you?
Yes I have a 59 Chibson Greeny/Moore that I made videos on the work, cost where & how much $, it is the one and only Gibson copy/clone/replica I bought from AliExpress last year and I get a lot of hate for it.
I've bought stuff from GF before, but its hit or miss. This series caught my eye, but I don't see one in my collection anytime soon.
You might want to check out Thomann’s Harley Benton Max Fusion Signature!🤩👍
That has to be the thickest neck joint I've ever seen.
It may be. Thank you for your comment!
I had an awful experience with their customer service. They refused to give me a refund. I had Visa look into it and got my money back. I would recommend disputing the charge, due to poor quality, and get a chargeback.
Thanks, I finally got my refund but minus the shipping cost both ways, I will never order another thing from Guitar Fetish!
@@beannie60 I actually filed a complaint with the BBB because they were so bad. Glad you got a resolution without having to go through the hoops that I did. My issue was over a malfunctioning pickup they sent me. They did everything to not offer a refund.
@@kma6881 You know I wish I did that as well but I didn't have to go through my CC company. Great job!
I Still did not receive my refund! Buy a Harley Benton instead and they also sell on CR Guitar Center!
if you get a higher end harley benton they are really nice(mostly the ones with stainless frets)
@@creepinonthebabes I think I bought over a dozen HB guitars from Thomann's in the last 2ys. They are GREAT!
Your review is honest and not paid like the guitar influencers on here who clap like trained seals about anything they are sent. I respect your honest review far more than any review from someone who's name rhymes with Guitar Jax.
Thank you!
For that kind of money, go Harley Benton. When I bought my Fusion 3,I wasnt expecting it to compete with my higher end guitars. WRONG. It looks great. It plays even better. I dont know how HB does it at their prices but I guarentee I will be making more purchaes from them.
Yes sir HB 1000% all the way! And I don't know how they do it either, stainless steel frets with locking tuners on a Flame Roasted neck & fingerboard or even with a Floyd??? Better than anything else out there!
That's a shame Bean. I've gotten SEVERAL axes from GuitarFetish and never had an issue. No, I actually did have a Slick arrive with a hardware issue but they took care of it right away.
I just got a bad one but it's the customer service that really sucks! Thanks!
Are you upset with my post? Why are you yelling?@@beannie60
Thanks for saving me the dough!
Your welcome! They might make them better now but your better off getting a Harley Benton from Thomann USA.
I'm not surprised these affordable guitar lines are pumping out some turds (SBS, Harley Benton, EART, GOC, etc...) - but I do think it should be hassle free to get your money back. At least that part is easy if you choose to buy something from Guitar Center or Sweetwater.
i like harley benton i have several and they are good.
Harley Benton & EART are 10 times better! Thanks!
@@creepinonthebabes Harley Benton are the BEST!
This is probably the only honest review of SBS guitars on YT.
Indeed. The big CZcamsrs praise these kind of brands, never heard them say anything negative.
Thank you but I'm getting a lot of slack over it!
@@beannie60 Truths often do.
@@olebrumme6356 I think it's because Pro-CZcamsr's get these sent to them for free! I don't but if I did I would still be honest because that's people's hard earned money and most of us that buy these kind of guitar's don't have money to piss away. Thanks for your comment! Rock on!
Plus when a company sends out a unit for review, they probably do some extra QC and make sure to send a "good one" out to their planned reviewers.
As for the floyd rose recess cavity, those "drop down on an angle" sections I think match one of the off-brand floyd's baseplates. It's like the bodies were routed for a different Floyd style and then they decided to put the Special.
Also I don't like that it's a pretend roasted neck. They say its a 'roasted finish' but not actually roasted. A tinted finish on maple is an age old thing, but CALLING it "roasted finish" instead of "amber tint" or something gives the impression they're trying to fool people into thinking it's roasted wood. I don't expect roasted at this price, but it seems like a deliberate misdirection.
I love the look of the guitars, the finish choices. Steve Brown plays great and has a cool vibe. From what I see though, Eart, Harley Benton, and some other newer Chinese brands probably offer tighter QC and better frets for the price range.
Great review. Sorry for the bad experience. The day they came out I ordered one then did some research on guitar fetish and tried communicating with them with questions and concerns did not happen. They cancelled my order and when posting comments on Instagram was blocked and they got Instagram to have my comments removed. Hope you received your refund
Wow that's not cool, that says a lot about GF as a company! And yes I finally got my refund minus the price of shipping both ways!
First of all... Ignore the people saying that you're being too picky for the money. If I give someone even one dollar of my hard earned money, there are certain things I will expect. No it won't have the same quality wiring, pots or other pieces of hardware that a more expensive guitar would come with. But to me, it's not so much the quality of the components and the price as it is their marketing. They're trying to compare themselves to $2,000 guitars, they're saying it's the best guitar under 400.00 and in the initial marketing Steve says it comes with a "Real Deal Floyd Rose." But that's not the case, it comes with the same licensed Floyd that comes on the 350.00 Jacksons. I have one of those Jacksons and had to replace the whole bridge because the soft metal stripped out on two saddles in less than 6 months. Some might say you can't expect a real Floyd at that price... But HB does it with the Floyd 1000, so it can be done. Also, that roasted neck you mentioned (as it turns out) isn't actually roasted... It's a finish to make it look roasted. Some would say you can't expect a roasted neck at that price, but HB does it.. And they put stainless frets on it. A roasted neck isn't simply for aesthetics, it's a process in which the remaining moisture in the neck is pulled out, leaving you with a neck far less susceptible to the elements and changes in fluctuating humidity and temperatures. I've been on the fence because I really wanted this guitar, but between this channel and the other derogatory videos I've watched on CZcams, I'd say that my money will be better spent with an HB Fusion.
Thank you so much for your comment! I agree 100% I worked hard for my money and I don’t have money to piss away! Thanks again!
That Floyd is the worst one. I think that's the one you'll see on the Jackson JS32 or something. The routing doesn't bother me as much because of the price, but the wiring is a loser to me.
Yup to many issues!
Pretty horrendous man. I have a Harley Benton that looks like a complete noob did the routings. Holes where nothing goes and a long crack from the pickup cavity to the trem cavity. I kept it just to show people how crappy they are. Anyway, folks want to say "you get what you pay for", but they obviously don't understand that even the big companies these days have crappy qc. I've seen Fenders and Gibsons that weren't even worth using as firewood. Also, with modern cnc machines you'd think these issues would be few and far between. I wouldn't call a $400. guitar cheap either, but I'm a normal dude living paycheck to paycheck.
Yes sire!
If these are not issues you can not fix yourself. I would suggest taking it to
Your local guitar luthier repair. And drop a few bucks on him or her to go over it fix any grievances .
Seriously that neck looks worth the price of the guitar by itself. But it’s your call either way. Sorry you are
Having so much trouble. Actually there are some Asian made guitars that
come with S/S frets with nibbled ends that are very impressive . So there is more out there besides g.f.
Competition is up and on for g.f they better get their act together,,,just sayin
Thanks for your comment but first, all the guitar techs/luthier's are horrible here where I live. I don't want nor think I should have to put any money into have a guitar that should work properly unless I want to change the pu's and or tuner's because of personal preference. I do have other guitars from Amazon like IYV and EART along with Harley Benton's from Thomann USA and that's what's I'm compering it to. Thanks again! Rock on!
Bought two mine are fine bought a red non relic and offset black relic when there on crazy sale check them out again ✌️
Thanks but i will never buy another guitar from GF.
@@beannie60 understand sorry you had a rough experience ✌️
Charvel uses Jumbo fret wire. The frets on the SBS looked similar to my Petrucci. When I checked the spec on the Petrucci they were medium jumbo too. Go Figure huh?? Got to give you credit, you are the FIRST to mention about dust. As for your "not sure how long the tape inside the cavtiy will last, I've got electrical tape in my '84 Kramer and it's still stuck together. You should be good
I’m not worry about that now because it went back it just took me a long time to get reimbursed for it minus shipping both ways!
there is no standard for fret sizes
The holidays are here. SBS makes for a great log on the fire.
😀😄😆👍
I know we all have different tastes but that relic job is a real eyesore. I would cover all that barewood with a red dye/gluboost to make it more "authentic" like a real touch up but that's me. most people can do their own relic jobs at home with a couple cans of compressed air, a hand glove and the wife's blowdryer. no one likes a limp wiggle stick specially wifey
Doesn't even look like a relic, just looks painted
😄 They have a satin finish over the body so you would have to sand down the hole body. Thanks for your comment it made my day after reading some of the stupid negative comments!
Sucks that you got a lemon. I got the neon green one last week and mine was perfect with no issues. Ok I changed the strings because I did not like those that came installed, polished the frets, and now plays like butter and sounds awesome. I am picky too and if mine was like yours I would send it back, but thankfully my SBS rocks and glad I bought it! Good luck to you man hope it gets resolved.
What they is better quality control, mine shouldn't have been sent out in the first place. I'm glade you like yours, you got a good one.
You cant compare a SBS guitar to a Charvel and a Gibson, plus you going to plug that into a JVM? you should of known better
I agree you can't compare a SBS to a Charvel that's like comparing a Porsche to a Hyundai. I was just plugging the guitar that was right next to me!
Unfortunately, a lot of people are reporting problems with these.
Thank you for your support!
I’ve only seen 2 reviews that had issues out of several reviews. And needing a setup isn’t an issue, even my American Strat needed a setup!!
@@edlicari3909 What connection do you have with this brand? Do you work for Guitar Fetish or are you friends with someone there? That you’re trolling every comment on this video!
Using tape for electrical repairs is not recommended. 🤦♂️
Yeah I know.
So, you never played it?
It did not work when I plugged it in because of the exposed wire or something! This one guitar was total crap & customer service is shit, I had to pay to ship it back, B.S. But they might make them better now????? Order one and find out, LOL!
Find a good old Ibanez RG 750,550,or 770 impossible to be disappointed 😉😉
I agree, I had them as well and they are great guitars! Ty!
Quality issues on a $350 guitar. What a surprise!! lol No wonder they didn't want to pay shipping both ways, there's no profit margin on a cheap guitar.
Your right it's my fault I was comparing it to a Harley Benton or a EART, big mistake 😀.
@@beannie60That doesn't make any sense partner! Those are proven guitars....SBS isn't 2 months old yet I appreciate the heads up I was gonna get one of these for a friend of mine, but I'm not messing with it now so again thanks. The dude who commented on a $350 having issues what a surprise he's right.... expect the worse if it's awesome that is a bonus.
Go shopping for a roasted flamed neck alone and see if you can find one for 350 bucks. Ill bet you cant find one! I would buy one just for the parts and use them to build it better.
Yeah, it's not a $3500 PRS. There's going to be imperfections. The string alignment looked great in relativity to the fretboard and pickups. The neck alone was worth $350. I'm going to buy one
@@stevenpipes1555
BS. You can find them starting less than$50.00 and several under the $200.00 price range.
How did it sound?
Don’t know it didn’t work!
From the Beginning of the announcement of this guitar SBS and guitar fetish had been misleading with this guitars. Honestly a Harley Benton is a better option for the price a fusion made in Indonisia is the same price and comes with a 1000 floyd.
Yes thank you I agree 100%! Funny all it takes is to have Steve Brown send a CZcamsr a free guitar and they are star struck & blinded by any honest opinion about the quality! I buy all of my guitars & give an honest opinion whether people like it or not, and I've got a lot of hate for this video.
Its a shame that this guitar comes with a proper case and 1500 dollar guitars barely come with a gig bag and a bad set up
Yes I know what you mean, why can't other brands give you a case however this case if bought with the guitar was an extra $79 and I wish I could have kept it.
Didn't have a single problem with mine at all, perfect shredder, did a small set up to my liking, zero issues! at the end of the day it's a 400 dollar guitar not a 4,000 dollar guitar, stop complaining lol
That's great that yours in as it should be, regardless of the price $400 or $4000 I expect a good guitar. I just got a lemon maybe 1 out of 1000 but to have to deal with pis-poor customer service is a bitch. Thanks!
You work for your money…you should get what you pay for
Exactly! Thank You! I shouldn't crap I have to work on...
I would exchange it no problem
Not after getting this guitar I'd rather not rake the chance again.
Did you really say Alder is pronounced like that because it doesn't have two L's? ALRIGHTY THEN.
Yes yes I did 😄 I hear everyone saying Allder when it is spelled Alder but to me that's like saying Aunt when I say Ant 😆sorry it's my Norwegian up bringing. Thanks for your comment! Rock on!
@@beannie60how would _ald_ be pronounced then?
Its such a shame, as its such a good looking guitar, and it makes, not just the company, but Steve himself look bad! I was looking at them, but i think I'll stay away now.
I really cant blame Steve Brown he has nothing to do with the making and distribution. But i think that had Steve know of such issues before hand he might have went to Thomann's to have a signature Harley Benton guitar made like GuitarMax! Thanks for your comment!
I'm a fan of Guitar MAX, but his guitars always seem to play flawlessly, and he doesn't (or at least rarely) ever mention that had to make adjustments to the guitars. It makes me wonder...this guitar got great reviews and it's a shame that you got a lemon. There are good budget guitars out there, but reviewers have to remain ethical. I'm sorry you got stuck with this POS.
Yeah I just got a bad one but the worst part is the bad customer service and having to pay to ship that hunk of junk back. Thanks!
The name of the website has always made me kind of scratch my head (cheap price for the domain name?). And I have heard more bad than good about the products that they sell...now, enough to make me stay clear.@@beannie60
It’s a budget guitar, hope your not expecting any profit on it , might wanna learn how to wire your own guitars, you get what you pay for.take a field trip and drive and return it, I would
Even a budget guitar doesn't get a pass no matter how much I spend I expect a good product! If you eat at a budget/cheap restaurant and the food & service is terrible are you happy with paying the bill and do you leave a good tip? I think not! I never had such a problem with a Harley Benton Guitar!
Several people are complaining about the QC issues.
Good at least I’m not the only one that seems to be complaining! Thanks for that!
I’ve only seen a couple reviews out of several that had issues. And I don’t consider needing a setup an issue because just about all new guitars need to be setup!!
I bought a SL57 last year from GuitarFetish. Of all the guitars I've bought, that one needed the most work. I paid $40 in shipping, and would have to pay another $40 to ship it back. Wasting $80 on a $250 guitar just didn't seem like good financial sense, so I used that guitar to hone my luthier skills. I've gotten it to a point where it plays ok. Some positives on that guitar- came with rounded jumbo fretwires that can stand up to some aggressive fret leveling if it ever came to that. Ashbody, maple neck, brass saddles, chunky brass tremolo block make for some nice parts that can be repurposed to make for a better partscaster guitar if I ever wanted to go that route. So not a complete waste of $250, but I was one and done after that. I was seriously considering their Pro 550/555 series especially with the the easy-swap pickups, but just couldn't get myself to pull the trigger after the SL57 experience.
Lesson learned right!
Poo is what they gave to you!
And the first name wasn’t Winnie😀
