This song is a prime example of how boy bands are favored a lot more than girl groups. Jimmin and his first tenor high notes is a talent if I have ever seen one. Flip it and have a girls group try to do a cover where you need a bass, the girls often fail. This was beautiful BTS. Great job guys.

This is the video that brought me into the BTS world and I'm so enjoying the ride and learning all about this wonderful group of very talented young men.
BTS and every performance of theirs is forever iconic… Also Jimin’s Somebody tell me why and his harmonies and adlibs esp at 3:53 and the way he emotes, such a terrific vocalist!
Some people are getting so upset over this cover. Firstly, their instrumental was more directed towards The Police version of the song (the original), and RM explained before this cover was started, that the song performed by PDiddy and Faith Evans was a tribute to Notorious BIG. As its a cover, they decided to change it up and also added Korean Rap verses, which actually are quite meaningful lyrics. It's a COVER, they respected both versions of the song and put their own flair to the song. People are just hating for no reason. If you don't like it move on. Sting ( The Police, and writer of the original) has twittered about the song and seems to enjoy it. Not once did BTS ever try and take the meaning away from PDiddys version of the song or what it meant at the time when his version was released. Other performers have covered this song, and there was no hate. So why are 7 Korean men who happen to be the biggest group in the world right now, receiving so much hate???? Think about it....

What’s really great here is you can clearly see none of them are trying hard to outshine the others (which is rare with pop groups) instead they all utilise their voices to best compliment the song and each other and have clearly practised hard to make sure the harmonies are perfect. They’re not selfish they want the group to shine, its refreshing seeing such a big pop group have a healthy relationship with each other.

I lost my dad almost 3 months ago, due to an accident. My dad was the best man I’ve ever known: loving, strong, compassionate. I’ve thought many times “what a life to take”, he was a pastor, father, grandfather, but he cared for/tried to help anyone who needed him, no matter the cost. I’ve watched this at least 5 times and have cried each time. Maybe there’ll be a day in the future where I won’t cry, but the words will always resonate. As a “dope old person” who grew up in NYC in the 90s listening to Biggie, (I actually remember the day I was told he died, I was in gym class of middle school - not that anyone asked). So I’m very much aware of the importance of this song and what it means not just to hip hop but also the black community. This song will always have a place in my heart and I’m so proud of BTS right now. They did such an amazing job with this cover, you can literally feel the emotion thru the screen. They paid homage to not just I’ll be missing you but also the original Sting song “every breath you take” while adding their own color to it, I’m blown away. 💜 Proud army over here. 💜

I personally lost 4 people in my life during this pandemic; two poeple passed away due to Covid, our chemistry teacher passed away in an accident and the last person committed suicide. Losing so many closed ones in a span of 1 year is horrible and painful. I hope wherever they are, they are at peace and happy to see me from the heaven.
And I am done with mental turmoils, to that extent that I feel that nothing will be alright, I don't have even the courage to cry. Listening to this cover of I'll Be Missing You by BTS tears rolled down. The last part where all the members are singing reminded me of Young Forever Epilogue and 2! 3! heavily. Now I am at peace even for some minutes. I just can't express what I am feeling now. May God bless these 7 boys all the time.

I cry every time I watch that video or every time I read this. They've helped me so much to get through the pain I feel physically and emotionally. I will be forever grateful for the comfort and love they give.
i love how they paid homage to the original and said in the bbc radio1 interview that they chose this song because its a tribute to notorious B.I.G whom they are fans of as they are fans of hiphop and even have hiphop origins (their song HipHop Phile pays tribute to the genre and its legends) , and added that they chose to cover this as it is a comfort to many people worldwide basically the same approach to choosing fix you as their first proper cover in years. I have massive respect to them for covering it with so much sincerity and sensitivity and making it sound magnificent .

I was listening to the original on repeat when I lost my friend from suicide last October and I cried a lot. His birthday is coming up August and I'm trying to stay strong but after me hearing BTS singing my comfort song they made me realize that it's okay to be sad and to let go all the pain that your holding on to. When my son was still in the ICU, Permission To Dance had a different meaning for us, especially that my son just randomly dances. My husband would play the song in full blast in the car while we look for medical supplies. My son died on July 26. We had the memorial service yesterday.
