A very nice tool Rob. I think they both have a place in your tool kit. Good argument to have both. As you say, it's all in the quality of the cutting blade. Cheers Nobby

Hi Nobby. Yes, you must use top quality blades. The ones supplied are rubbish. Cheers Rob

Hi Rob. I think for the money you can't go wrong with those saws. Cheers, Alan.

Hi Alan. They both work well. For the money I agree. I use the little one a lot in the garden. Cheers Rob

I may not need one of these saws Rob but I do see they have their uses and reviews like this are a very valuable source of information on any tool. The batteries look very much like the DeWalt ones and I'm wondering if they would be interchangeable. Spare batteries and charger's are usually what the manufacture's charge the earth for.

Hi Ian. From my observations none of the brand name batteries are interchangeable. I think they do that to lock you in to their brand. You can get adapters between some, but I don't know what to what. These saws and a light duty drill are the only cordless power tools I have. I costs a fortune to switch to cordless and I can't see the point, unless you are a tradie. The owners generally wear out long before most power tools ;) Maybe I'm just old skool. Cheers Rob

Hi Kev. I was surprised by how much more powerful it was. Worth the bit extra. Cheers Rob

That one has some beans, Rob.
I'm going to try some of those carbide tipped reciprocating saw blades for steel that people rave about.

That's what I used in the saw when the ones supplied threw in the towel. I've tried Diablo and most other brands from the hardware store with equally excellent results. They last a very long time. Cheers Rob

Damn Rob it'll only cut crapiata pine come on give it some good Aussie hardwood to gnore at. Cutting tube seems ok how about plate? Young @Artisan Makes could sure use one.

Hi Raymond. I was surprised at how gutsy it is. That treated perma pine is actually a bastard of stuff to drill and cut as the chemicals make it gummy. It handled the steel jobs no problem. Considering it's only $8 dearer than the small one, it represents way better value IMHO. Cheers Rob

Hey Rob, If you still have it and you've ever interested in selling your Sherline, let me know. i really need a small lathe to get started. It would go to a good home. I'm in VIC and would be willing to arrange shipping etc. Thanks.

Hi. Yes, the little Sherline is still a valued member of the family. No plans to sell it. For tiny work it's very useful. They rarely come up for sale locally. Unimats are more likely. Cheers Rob

Looks like a grunty saw Rob. Good review.
We miss out on good deals here in NZ. Banggood don't ship this saw to NZ. Also, we cant get Vevor products here. It would be good to have these companies local, but I guess we are just too small for the market.

Hi Jon. That's a weird situation considering we are so close. It must have something to do with the way Chinese companies bypass the global cost regulated postal system. From what I understand they charge differently (way cheaper) and may also get govt subsidies. Maybe NZ wont recognise the Chinese postal charges system or expects them to pay full regular prices. Cheers Rob
