  • Had a centrifugal chiller surging while working on quarterly pm inspections. Also had to change the purge filter while on site.

We had to rob parts from this chiller to get 1 & 3 running when I started this building back up after 10+ years off being more or less mothballed.

One of things I always check is to make sure the pump-out pump is actually working and pulling into a good vacuum.

I don’t know the engineers at the building now, been over 3 years since I worked there, but there’s a large number of building engineers that don’t ask questions or watch over a tech’s shoulder to learn the why or how. It’s one of my biggest pet peeves in the trade.

I dont get to work on centrifugal's...only a few times. I really want to learn more about them. I mostly work on process chillers or air cooled. I understand how these low pressure units operate, just not a ton of hands on experience.

I never understood why the dehydrator makes a trap for the liquid drain back. Wouldn’t you want it to
Coke out of the drier and go straight to the condenser?
